Cheering European Crowds -- All For Naught?

A USA Today poll showed John McCain leading Barack Obama among likely voters, reversing the five-point lead Barack had last month. The poll likewise indicated that Barack's trip abroad had done nothing to shore up confidence in his ability to serve as Commander-in-Chief (it was taken between last Friday and last Sunday).
It's interesting, isn't it, that despite a foreign trip that by all accounts went well, and which gave rise to dazzling photo-ops, the poll has gone in the opposite direction.
What do you think the reasons are? I mentioned one theory yesterday. Could there also be a sort of revolt among normal people at the elites' efforts to shove an Obama presidency down America's collective throat? Did the foreign trip suggest to voters that there's a big difference between being a popular international political "rock star," on the one hand, and on the other having the willingness (and toughness and ability) to hang tough for America's interests when the situation demands it? Or has the magnitude of Barack's assorted flip flops alienated voters who thought he was going to be a "different" kind of politician?
I'm interested in your theories.

It doesn't improve one's credibility to omit crucial information from stories. How about clear-eyed pragmatism instead?
From Gallup:
"The July 25-27 USA Today/Gallup poll shows Barack Obama leading John McCain by a 47% to 44% margin among all registered voters"
"registered voters are the relevant group to trend to establish basic patterns of change in voter support for presidential candidates" |
|
The key phrase in that report Steve, is REGISTERED VOTERS. Finish the report: McCain was leading among all registered voters MOST LIKELY TO VOTE. Hows' that for clear eyed pragmatism?
First theory is correct, Ms. Liebau. With a history of hundreds of years of wars, famine, torture, kidnappings, slavery, etc, Europe DARES to opine on who AMERICAN CITIZENS should elect? Europe needs to focus on their own problems. Maybe the U.S. should start submitting opinions when they hold their elections, and we'll see how much they like that. |

We are all geeks and normal people don't give a rat's behind about a November election in July, when they've got other things to worry about. |

the very same thing on FOX last night. Obama and his staff appear to be deficient in history; especially when the "chosen one" appears to want to be the ruler of the world. I can't help but wonder what Holocaust survivors were thinking when they saw that scene. |

Obama had roughly 700 people traveling with him. In some of those smaller crowd scenes there is no proof that they were anyone other than Obama people traveling with him. |

Reagan stood firm against communism. The American left allied itself with millions of the European left who protested "cowboy" Reagan. Reagan stood firm. Communism fell. Reagan is a hero.
Bush stood firm in Iraq. The American left allied itself with hundreds of thousands of the European left who protested "cowboy" Bush. Bush stood firm. The U.S. is winning in Iraq. Bush will be a hero.
Barack Hussein Obama allies himself with hundreds of thousands of the European left who now have to be bribed with free rock concerts, food, and beer to attend rallies ...

Obama showing leadership that Reagan and Bush could never accomplish!
That's. A. Laugher.
While he may yet win the election, Obama reveals more and more ignorance about world affairs every single day.
As far as the world reviling the U.S.; why, then have Canada, France, and Germany elected more conservative, pro-American leaders? Bush is to blame for that, right?

Funny how a few weeks ago Obammy was saying how our kids should leand languge, when he addressed the crowds in Germany and France, I didn't hear hispeak german or french. |

messiah must cause her legs to tingle! Hahaha.

I think people are waking up to the fact that Obama's list of accomplishments is shorter than a Letterman's Top Ten. He has not indicated he is any kind of leader. Reagan and Bush were willing to lead, and when the going got tough, they stood firm. That is something Obama wouldn't do. I think he would fold with the first kick.
Obama showed no leadership as a "community organizer." He showed NO leadership in the Illinois Senate (apparently voting present was his biggest claim to fame), and he has shown NO leadership in the US Senater. After the equivalent of about 8 months of work (143 days--about 8 months for someone in a normal job), he decides he is ready for the big job. I think most of the smart people in the US realize he is not ready for prime time. We are not about to have an Obama presidency shoved down our throat by the elite.
As far as world opinion...they can kiss my backside if they want to "revile" America. If not for us most of them would be in a world of hurt. Maybe we ought to tell them all to take care of themselves and when they quit being ingrates, we'll talk! |
