Foley 'Bombshell' Coming?

Foley's lawyer's holding a press conference. Stay tuned.

Isn't it weird that a "bombshell" is coming from Foley's lawyer? As his lawyer, wouldn't he want to avoid bombshell press conferences for the time being? It seems if there were a bombshell coming, it'd come from the pages' families or Dem operatives. This oughtta be interesting.

Update: Wait, that's the bombshell? Foley was molested as a kid by a priest?

He should have kept his mouth shut, I think. This makes it look like he's excusing/mitigating his behavior, which I know is the point of a lawyer, but it doesn't help to come out with this when everyone in America is still seething about what Foley did. Wait a while and use it in court-- not as a P.R. offensive.

Is Sen. Foley's lawyer trying to justify the Ex-Senator Foleys (thank god) actions? From what I gathered.... "I was molested (by a Catholic priest no less)...I never molested a minor....BTW I am Gay". In essence Foley's lawyer is saying.... 1. It is not my client's fault because he was molested. 2. It is the Catholic Churches fault. 3. He is gay (and that explains it)? My BS meter is going off big time. Frankly what (if anything) happened to Sen. Foley when he was younger does not matter period. He should take responsibility for his actions instead of trying to make excuses.

Just another example...
of what is wrong in this country. Glad he is being condemned universally, but man, I am sick of seeing this refusal to accept responsibility for one's behavior. Checking into rehab in the firt place was a stunt. What's next? A heart-to-heart with Dr. Phil?

I'd almost be willing to bet that you will see at least 1 Democratic congressman being named for doing almost the same things as Foley. I also wouldn't be shocked if Rove's promised "October Surprise" was the outing of some Democratic misdeeds but someone got wind of it and decided to beat him to the punch with Foley. 5 weeks befor the election is a little too soon to be releasing damaging info if you are going for maximum impact. The bottom line is that a lot can happen in the next 5 weeks. Democrats should be extremely careful about counting their chickens and passing out commitee chairmanships just yet. Anyone who underestimates Karl Rove is a fool.

Foley's excuses for inappropriate behavior are insulting. Now the man says he is gay. Lets get this straight....he's not gay, he is a pedophile. I am gay and do not want to be painted with the same brush as a pedophile. Foley is not approaching men-he is approaching boys. There is an enormous difference between the two. To add to this excuse, he now says he needs to be in rehab and was abused by a priest. Give me a break. Then to top it off the Speaker of the House lies about this when it first came out. I have been a steadfast Republican, but I cant't deal with any more of this crap.
