Spending on overseas travel for "congressional delegations" has risen 50% since Democrats took control of Congress two years ago. As the linked piece from The Wall Street Journal delicately notes, "taxpayer-funded travel is a big and growing perk for lawmakers and their families." No one should object to lawmakers traveling when there is a real, pressing need to do so. But perhaps they would more carefully evaluate how much "need" there is if they themselves were paying part of the cost? Let's hear no more complaints about "tax breaks" and "giveaways" for hard-working businesses; these folks are enjoying plenty of government "giveaways" of their own.
When, exactly, do elected officials start deciding that they are entitled to live the high life, courtesy of the taxpayers? All of this reminds me of the behavior of Democrats in California, whom described in this piece as follows:
For politicians . . . , when the hardworking or productive keep more of what they have earned, it's only because politicians have been "giving away" the tax revenues that purportedly belong to them. In this mindset, meeting the "needs" of a greedy, ever-expanding government is the only imperative; taxpayers are nothing more than cash cows, commanded to provide the fodder that allows [politicians] to meet their "moral obligations" with other people's money.

Earning your keep huh..don't wear out what few brain cells you have left..burnout.
The bottom line is these corruptocrats have NO business going on their taxfunded vacations when Americans are out of work and taxed to death and after death. They have managed to fix it so they get their annual raises without having to vote for them; have the Porsch version of federal taxfunded health care while they plot to force the same taxpayers into the jalopey; pensions fit for kings after only a few years of what is euphemistically referred to as work; free franking privileges; and when they leave their federal, taxfunded careers they can seque into lobbying their colleagues; and they also get free travel back and forth to their home districts. And the DemonRATS are the world renowned experts at gaming the system, I wonder if there is just ONE honest, patriotic member among them..the last one I knew..left..Zell Miller. |

...They'll do it in quantum magnitudes when it comes to health care, energy allocation, whatever the product or service that Big Government takes over. Politicians will allocate to themselves THE BEST and THE MOST. to The People they allocate THE REST and THE LEAST. That is how centralist Big Government has always functioned; that is how it will always function. For the sycophantic, drooling, useful idiots [Rafi girl resembles that remark] who worship pres. Hussein's coming centralist Big Government, hope you're the first to feel the pangs of being rationed to the point of lacking. Your disappointment will only be mitigated by your ability to live in abject denial of your abject new poverty. |

Has anyone else noticed that barry has spent less nights in the whitehouse than he has on the road in his "prepetual campaign mode" since his inauguration?
Somebody tell barry he won and he doesn't have to campaign anymore. Then again, barry lied through his teeth during his two year campaign for the whitehouse and I guess he feels it more effective to spread his lies in person amongst his worshippers than from the oval office.
Hey Barry, if youre not going to live in the whitehouse, at least rent some rooms out to help pay down that multi-trillion dollar deficit you have run up in the past 6 months... |

Support of the People? A CONVICT!
Here's some restoration, reformation, & revolution that Our Founding Fathers supported:
1) Advertise and Promote the Fact that you are forming a Grand Jury in Blogs, Local Newspapers and Community Organizations.
2) Form the Grand Jury and select a Foreman.
3) Select a Private Attorney General to make Presentments to Grand Jury, if local DA refuses to make presentments.
4) Select a convenient Meeting Place.
5) Communicate with all Citizens who have criminal information to present.
6) Schedule presentments by said Citizens.
7) Subpoena documents from Government Offices and Officials.
8) Schedule presentment of said Documents to Grand Jury by Grand Jury Attorney General.
9) Have Grand Jury Attorney General present said Documents to Grand Jury.
10) After investigation and deliberation is completed, vote and issue a True Bill (Indictment) or No True Bill.
11) Announce all Indictments to the Press.
12) Serve the Indictment on the Judiciary for the Issuance of Arrest Warrants. |

I would really like to see a comparison of the expenses paid out of pocket and those charged to taxpayers by every single member of congress. With maybe a chart for what would be expected or acceptable for those who must travel longer distances to DC (to do their job).
Even better would be a detailed chart(list) of the wasted tax dollars by the entire federal government for one given year. We know of those in the Porkulus bill and the others passed this year.
Heck let's make it Bush's last year. It doesn't matter what year because the pennies turn to dollars and the dollars into millions.
The federal government is too big to ever get an accurate account of our tax dollars, just like ACORN and Americorps it gets moved around so much we can't track it. Sucks to think we work, it takes, and then loses track of what we pay,or wastes it on stupid crap or others who don't deserve our money by virtue of the government's standards. |

From the WSJ article: "In mid-June, Sen. Daniel Inouye (D., Hawaii) led a group of a half-dozen senators and their spouses on a four-day trip to France for the biennial Paris Air Show. An itinerary for the event shows that lawmakers flew on the Air Force's version of the Boeing 737, which costs $5,700 an hour to operate. They stayed at the Intercontinental Paris Le Grand Hotel, which advertises rooms from $460 a night."
Another paragraph related San Fran Nan traveling to Afghanistan to "support the troops" - after a 8-day stay over in Italy!! "Government of the People, by the People, for the People," my left butt cheek (as opposed to my right one)!! I certainly don't know any "People" like this gang of leeches. Glad their having fun on my dime. |

You may have noticed that this is how I usually refer to our "nation's" capitol. I usually do so in connection with its imperials deeds. But it also applies to the rampant corruption and its' politicians' love of wasteful, self-indulgent largess as is described above. And the GOP is as bad as the A$$ Party in this regard.
Tell me, "conservatives": is this beast really capable of reform? Will voting in more Republicans in the elections to come really fix it? Get real.

the trillions that the well connected and rich have fleeced, this is rather small potatoes.
It is still rather irritating. |

Obama is NOT the only Political FRAUD! Want to LEGALLY remove Obama from POTUS? Start HERE:
There is an ongoing criminal conspiracy among Obama supporters in Nashville to cover up crimes committed by his campaign in 2007, 2008 and 2009. These crimes include, but are not limited to, VOTER FRAUD, IDENTITY THEFT, COMPUTER THEFT, INVASION OF PRIVACY and petty BURGLARIES similar to WATERGATE.
Judge Tom w. Brothers and a Partner in Karl Dean's favorite FIRM, Bass Berry & Sims, were INDICTED once and Tom w. Brothers and Bass Berry and Sims will be INDICTED again and CONVICTED this time.
When Nashville Judge Tom w. Brothers was first INDICTED for Drug Money Laundering Karl Dean was the Public Defender FIXING Cases his Wife's FIRM, Bass, Berry & Sims.
According to an old Law School friend of mine who was working for the DEA when Tom Brothers was INDICTED for DRUG MONEY Laundering, Bass, Berry & Sims was the biggest Drug Money Laundering FIRM in the Southeast.
My DEA Agent Friend's words were similar to what Phil Williams of http://www.NewsChannel5.com wrote about Russell Brothers. According to Phil Williams, Russell Brothers was a "Giant among Giants" in the Drug Smuggling Business.
Somehow the Deans accumulated a "reported" Fortune of $100 Million despite the fact that they both grew up poor. The cover story spun by the Deans is that Ms. Dean's STINGY MISER Uncle gave her the money.
Coincidentally, the Deans' cover story was similar to Tom Brothers' cover story about where the money that he was LAUNDERING for his Convicted FELON Uncle Russell's Drug Money came from.
Tom Brothers testified at his trial that he thought, "Uncle Russell got the millions from selling insurance for CNA."

Are you saying that it is better that only the powerful be wealthy and/or live like elitists, than for the wealthy be powerful? |
|
I'm saying that this stinks, but it's far less noxious (in sheer scope) to the regular fleecing of taxpayers that happens every year as a result of corporate subsidies/welfare and especially putrid legislation like TARP.
This... this is just the standard behavior I expect from corrupt functionaries of a government that has long since abandoned any idea of restraint when it comes to itself. |
