My Favorite Lines from McCain's Speech

Nope, it wasn't a barnburner speech. But, we all know speeches aren't really McCain's thing. I'm betting McCain will be a lot more fiery in the coming debates like he was at Saddleback Church a few weeks ago.
Although the speech wasn't as rousing as Sarah Palin's last night, there were several noteworthy moments. Here are the lines that stuck out to me the most:
-To Obama, "Despite our differences, much more unites us than divides us. We are fellow Americans, an association that means more to me than any other."
-About Governor Palin: "I’m very proud to have introduced our next Vice President to the country. But I can’t wait until I introduce her to Washington."
- "I will reach out my hand to anyone to help me get this country moving again. I have that record and the scars to prove it. Senator Obama does not."
- "I fell in love with my country when I was a prisoner in someone else’s."
-"We’re Americans, and we never give up. We never quit. We never hide from history. We make history. "

Everybody knew that was coming. Ann and Nancy have been outspoken anti-war liberals since the band first played that song back in the 70's.

"Republicans Lack Heart!
"Ann and Nancy Wilson are pissed at the Republican Party and have fired off a cease and desist letter to the McCain/Palin campaign.
"Specifically, the Heart women are upset that the GOP has used their classic "Barracuda" as a theme song for Sarah Palin. TMZ obtained a statement from Heart's rep, who says "The Republican campaign did not ask for permission to use the song, nor would they have been granted that permission."
"The statement goes on: 'We have asked the Republican campaign publicly not to use our music. We hope our wishes will be honored.'"

"Despite our differences, much more unites us than divides us....."
This quote would have been correct if it ended right there as well. |

Obama sounded like this country is doomed and we are liveing in the streets and its a terrible country, and the world hates us, I dont care if the world hates us, thats their problem, its the United States of America, that matter to me, McCain makes you feel great to be an American, thats the difference, we will work together and solve our problems, and stand up to our enimies and defeat them if we have to, but they will know that [we can] defeat them. |

What a contrast in feelings after watching both conventions. The dem left you with :vote for me so I can fix this terrible country and the Government will take care of you.Republican said to me this is the greatest country in the world together lets solve our problems and defeat our enimies like the other Americans did before us. |

There were many good lines, but the way it came across to me in my family room was John McCain the man - his passion and what makes him tick. I am very glad to have Sarah to balance him out, but I am also deeply impressed by the picture that was painted of John - by others and by him. He meant what he said at the core of his being; and that goes quite a long way. |

...but a speech is only "rabble-rousing" if you are referring to the audience as rabble. That would have applied last week, but not lastnight.
It would suffice just to say rousing. |

to a powerful climax. That message as the end got me. |

but I like how he blamed both parties for failing to fix the energy problem, and other problems, due to partisan fighting, something about "oppose an idea because we didn't think of it first". Great point. |
