Rasmussen: Romney Tied With Obama In Hypothetical Election
Posted by: Jillian Bandes at 11:35 AM
The "card check" provision was removed from the ineptly-named "card check legislation." Prospects for health care reform are looking grim. And continued bloviation about economic stimulus actually helping the economy is finally being met with skepticism from not only the Republicans, but Democrats and the American public.

Perhaps these imminent failures account for Rasmussen's latest poll: if Mitt Romney were to run against Barack Obama in a hypothetical election that were held today, they would be tied, each receiving 45% of the vote. Obama needs to scale back his shock-and-awe tactics so he can accomplish more selective, strategic objectives if he's going to re-capture the lust of the American public. He's also going to have to realize that lying about what he's accomplishing really isn't working anymore.

That is right. I am sure Munck would accept a republican state official's word on such an issue were it a republican in the same situation.
It seems Munck trusts any lib state or federal officials no matter what. What an odd way to think. He wants to be subservient to the state as all good libtards do.

Good News: If BHO runs for re-ection...
...he will definitely have a record. The Rasmussen poll shows that in that poll at least people like Romney's record as much as they do Obama's 6-month record.

And at this point, Romney is rising; Obama falling.

Wrat Wrangler: Records Only Matter If...
...you have one.

That's why BHO and Hillary did so well: Absolutely NO resume. NO record of accomplishment. Since they never tried to do anything, nobody can hang anything around their necks.

Maybe that's the future of America. Voters electing people with NO experience only promises that people can pin their "hopes" on.

Then, when they see what the candidate actually does, they throw him out for the next promise-maker with no record.
Wrat Wrangler writes: Tuesday, July, 21, 2009 12:47 PM
Record? What's THAT?!!!
Clay, I get your point but if records matter then HOW did we get O'Vomit? He spent ALL his time from the day he was sworn into the Senate running for President. He voted "present" 143 times to avoid creating a trail that we could point to.

WHY did you THINK Hollyweird dug up one of the most arcane and unknown incidents in the Old West and ran the film to coincide with the beginning of the Primary process? Aside from the History Channel NOBODY has brought up Mountain Meadows for 150 years until now.

Can we say "Big Love"? Sure the main characters are sort of fuzzy/weird/personable but there are a LOT of deranged ones cast as the "real Mormons" as well.

As Rush has advised the public: "Look at the Conservatives the Left tries hardest to destroy and those are the ones they FEAR most." This goes for Palin AND Romney. A Romney/Palin win would be worth any effort just to see the bowels explode in newsrooms all over America.

Romney v. Beck
I wasn't listening to Beck much during the election, but I do remember that he wasn't necessarily supporting Romney even though Rush, O'Reilly, Ingraham, Savage, Levin and a bunch of financial gurus were.

It's in error to say Romney is not supporting the Pubs. He's been doing nothing BUT supporting Republican candidates and donating money from his PAC.

I believe it's also in error to say he's just running for his own aggrandizement. That would be the Clintons. Or for personal aggrandizement, political power and pure ideology, that would be Obama.

When you actually take an honest look at Romney, you see a man whose basic MO is serving others and I believe he's sincere in his desire to serve the American people.

I see a smart, good man who sees himself in a position to be a servant-leader.

MassCare, though apparently a mess, came from Romney's sincere desire to take the money that was already being spent in the ERs and apply it to universal insurance.

But he's still for free-market solutions not government messes: A far cry from proud progressivism.

Fact: The economy will still be in a mess by 2011. Fact: SOMEBODY will need to run against BO unless the Pubs and Cons just roll over and let him have another 4 years. Fact: That somebody needs to be somebody with name recognition who exudes competency on the economy.

Who else is there? Jindal? Cantor? Ryan? Maybe. But they are all young and not well known and may want to keep their powder dry for 2016. After the Enfant Terrible, BHO, maybe people will be in the mood for a sensible grown-up even if he's a tall rich white guy with perfect hair.

I believe tha Romney would best serve the party by pointing out Obama's failure to understand basic economics. I do not believe that he will have a shot as president but do believe he could do a lot of good right now if he showed what a failure the Mass health care system turned out to be. He could clearly admit that it was tried and failed. He really should do more to promote his party and not try to promote himself for a presidential run.

The key to the elections today or any elections in the future will be the independents & the hispanics. Whoever captures their vote wins!
Careful with that axe, Eugene writes: Tuesday, July, 21, 2009 7:45 AM
Here's Romney's other real problem...
The real problem the GOP has, and especially Romney, is that the non-white voters are increasingly turning against Republicans.

There was a very interesting article on this in RCP yesterday, but I'll paraphrase.

In 1976, the electorate was 90% White. Had that been the case in 2008, McCain would have won, because he carried the White vote 56-43. but in 2008, it shrank to 75%. Blacks made up 13% of the electorate and Obama carried 97% of them. hispanics made up 9%, and Obama carried them by a 2-1 margin.

Now, in the face of that problem, Romney is probably the worst candidate the GOP could feild. He's whiter than white bread, and belongs to a religion that didn't admit blacks to full membership until 1978 and still holds in their scripture that dark skin is a curse from God. His pandering to the Virginia Pats of the world means he would have lost the hispanic vote by an even bigger margin.

He also makes a point about how the youth vote is going Democratic... which I can attest to. Meetings of my local GOP is the only place where I can be the youngest guy in the room these days...

Please, guys like Romney are what caused this economic mess. Because for the last 30 years, people like him have been systematically dismantling the middle class.

We'll take away your union, send your good paying manufacturing job to China, use every recession to downsize you into a job that pays less... but not to worry, we'll let you invest in the stock market and flip your house. You can be PART of the Exploitation. Whooooopeeee.

Except most of us aren't saavy enough about the stock market and real estate to actually do that. So along came September 2008, and we found ourselves with worthless 401K's and Mortgages where we owed more than the property could be sold for if you could even find a buyer and a jumping unemployment rate as everyone started panicking.

Now exactly how would nominating one of the very people who got us into that mess help us.

A working person voting for Mitt Romney is like a Chicken voting for Colonel Sanders.

And this is very similar to what Obama's proposal for health care reform is. Romney lost because people saw that, despite whatever success he had in the private sector, as a public servant he sucked hard.

"Very easy to produce a fake document such as a birth certificate"

Yeah, but this one was certified as authentic by the State of Hawaii. That wasn't true of your fake driver's license last year when you were 16.

Here you go. Note the date.

“There have been numerous requests for Sen. Barack Hussein Obama’s official birth certificate,” said Chiyome Fukino. “State law prohibits the release of a certified birth certificate to persons who do not have a tangible interest in the vital record.”

Citing her statutory authority to oversee and maintain Hawaii’s vital records, Fukino said she has “personally seen and verified that the Hawaii State Department of Health has Sen. Obama’s original birth certificate on record in accordance with state policies and procedures.

"Therefore, I as Director of Health for the State of Hawaii, along with the Registrar of Vital Statistics who has statutory authority to oversee and maintain these type of vital records, have personally seen and verified that the Hawaii State Department of Health has Sen. Obama’s original birth certificate on record in accordance with state policies and procedures," Fukino said.

Romney Rising
Wish we'd had a debate between Mitt and Obama (without any teleprompters to help Obama read his script).

Romney talks a mile a minute and says a lot while Obama reads with feeling but stumbles on his own.

Romney hit us with his firehose of ideas while Obama kept hammering hope and change. Was it a vocabulary issue? Did Obama read us bedtime stories and lull us to sleep while Mitt tried to get us to reason and compare?

Romney is better understood his second time around. This time we know what "hope and change" look like and we don't like what we are seeing.

When Romny said he couldn't wait to get his hands on Washington to cut out waste and duplication, we collectively yawned.

When he said Washington was broken, we switched the channel.

When he compared his leadership experience, we said he was only the governor of a small state, fixed a world-wide Olympics that we've since forgotten.

We didn't understood economics so his record of successfully running a venture capital business we didn't know anything didn't impress us. Bains sounded like a weak word to our ears.

Our reaction was "He looks like a business man and talks like a college professor." Plastic and stiff were used freely to describe his personality.

And then the doomsday Christians came out in full force, all but saying that a vote for Romney made a person less than a good Christian because he was a member of a church people were throwing rocks at. Huck's question to the media all but sealed Mitt's fate at the ballot box in Iowa where lots of good Christians live who didn't want to be labeled as bad Christians.

Is it any wonder that Romney is rising now that the American public can see the 'change' candidate Obama in office and see the former candidate Mitt working as a patriot? What a contrast.

My "point of view" is pragmatic, not extreme. Huckabee's team did the damage to Romney, as well as, some mis-steps by Romney himself. I didn't state it in my previous post, but I would've voted for Romney if I'd had a chance. I thought I made that clear by my reference to the Ferrari - maybe you didn't get that?

Are all governors "stupid" or are some more stupid than others? Are governors who take their own party to task in order to root out corruption "stupid"? Are governors who negotiate complex energy deals with recalcitrant parties "stupid"? Who would you give as an example of a "smart" governor?

No candidate can win the presidency relying on only their "base". BHO didn't nor did Reagan. All candidates must persuade the voters that their plans and policies are better for the individual, and the country as a whole, than the opponents'. McCain, Dole, Ford are examples of poor, uninspiring communicators and the voters chose accordingly.

That's a pretty broad brush you're painting with. Not "all" Christians "hate Romney" - as you claim. I'd say a significant number of Christians of all stripes, even many Evangelicals, supported and would have voted for Romney. Why? First, we know there is no "Religious Test" in the Constitution for public office. Obviously, a candidate who adheres to basic tenets outside of mainstream thought (witchcraft and voodoo come to mind) might necessarily self-select as being "unelectable". Do I have significant theological disagreements with the Mormon faith? Absolutely. But this isn't the forum in which to air them.

Second, we recognize his business/economic skills and maturity on both domestic and foreign policy. He has had to demonstrate the ability to compromise with his opponents when he didn't have the leverage of a majority in his favor. BHO has never shown nor demonstrated that ability, nor has he ever run any type of business.

The American voters have given the keys to the family Ferrari to the 16 year-old who just earned his learners' permit. I'd rather have someone who's been around the block a few times, even if I don't agree with all his driving techniques.
