RE: The so-called "Employee Free Choice Act"
Posted by: Amanda Carpenter at 9:54 AM
The larger-than-life debate over the fate of the Big Three automakers going on right now will be helpful to those trying to defeat the EFCA.

There is a growing recognition that the out of control expenses associated with Big Labor's demands are at the root of Detroit's demise. The American public is already outraged at the bailout and the fact General Motors, Ford and Chrysler are coming to Washington with their hat in hand to keep UAW members on their $73/hour gold-plated health care plans. That frustration towards the auto industry should be directed at EFCA in the days ahead.

If the GOP plays it right, all the drama we are seeing now with the Big Three can be parlayed into an in-your-face, real life example of what Big Labor control does for the economy and taxpayers.

here's what to do
The Stupid Party members must let the Big3 take care of themselves - either through bankruptcy or being sold to competitors or new owners. The Stupid Party reps and PR people also need to do something they are not familiar with: explain and extrapolate ideas and the future to the masses.

1. Down South and out West - the foreign car companies are doing great. No unions.

2. Michigan can be turned into a good place to live again if we get rid of unions. See #1.

3. The workers will not be out of jobs long because the companies will be bought by someone and they are ready made skilled workers on site.

Do they mean that like one would say Sugar Free or Alcohol Free?

The employee free act. The act that does absolutely nothing good for employees. Proof is in the way we ourselves vote for important issues like whether to boot one of our own to the curb.

Jus sayin
An RN may make $25 per hr, a nurse anesthetist $45 an hr.

Is there be any craft that more deserves their gain/income than those that are in nursing?

And the UAW has assembly workers hooked on the feeling that they are entitled to a $75 per hr. package?

I actually feel sorry for these UAW workers.

As an RN I completely agree with you sir! I need a big pay raise! Actually, with the number of years I have behind me I do okay.

But a union isn't the way to go. There are quite a number of unionized nurses in California and they are getting a taste that is not agreeing with them.

Big Opening For Republicans
I agree 100%. Obama and the new Democratic majority may get on the wrong side of the people right out of the gate by approving a big three bailout and/or card check (abolition of secret ballots for union formation). This would put the Republicans on the right side of the issue.

If this happens, the Republicans (and conservative journalists) need to follow up by forcing an investigation of the role of Democrats and Fannie Freddie lobbyists in the financial crisis. It would most likely reveal (a) a corrupt role by high-ranking Democratic congressmen; (b) the role played by liberal ideology; and (c) the link between the two.

People will then understand the corrupting role of Democratic ideology -- big government, unions and interference in free markets. They will see both the mortgage meltdown and the Big Three problems as the by-products of this ideology. They will realize Obama's pledge to break free of lobbyists is a joke. They will understand that he and the Democrats are in the pockets of big labor, Fannie/Freddie, that votes are provided by the UAW and community organizers in exchange for policies (passed by Democrats) that favor their consituents.

Power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely, which doesn't bode well for Democrats. Ironically, though, it doesn't matter because an investigation of the past will reveal "pre-existing" corruption, on top of whatever additional corruption occurs over the next 2-4 years.

Republicans have an opening as the party of reform -- with reform being defined first as anti-corruption, and second as conservative policy changes that help prevent the preconditions of corruption (smaller government, less union influence, less government interference in the mortgage market, etc.), beginning with those with greatest consensus in the Republican party (and those with the greatest public support).

Big 3
The auto unions are choking their golden goose to death while simultaneously demanding more golden eggs!
