Rudy's Move-on to London ...

Following up on his brilliant "Moveon" maneuver, last week, Rudy Giuliani has performed yet another PR coup, by taking his campaign to ... London.
From the Caucus:
... he sat for a very British “conversation” with Celia Sandys, Winston Churchill’s granddaughter. The campaign had to love it when she referred to the former New York mayor as “Churchill in a baseball cap.”
Not only does this trip help portray him as as a statesman -- and remind folks he of his "Churchillian" 9-11 image -- it also allows him to dominate the headlines for yet another week. The message is clear: while his opponents are pandering to voters in Iowa and New Hampshire, Rudy is already acting as a diplomat.
And, from PR perspective, this is a "two-for": Not only is Rudy sending the right message, but he's also sure to get lots of coverage from a political press corps dying for something interesting to cover. He is, after all, giving the press something new and exciting to talk about (I mean, how many steak fry's or state fair's can you attend?)
Rudy's opponents must feel as if they are being outmaneuvered right now.
Anyone could have stood up to Ron Paul, but Rudy did. Anyone could have taken on MoveOn.org, but Rudy was first. And now, London.
Once again, Rudy has seized the moment.

You have it backwards. Nominate Rudy, guarantees President Hillary Clinton. Nominate anyone else and we have a fighting chance. Many will not show up if the choice is New York liberal A or B. Or R or D. |
|
skep41,
Churchill didn't come up with the term "iron curtin". He plagiarized it from one of Goebbel's articles, "The Year 2000". Either google the article or see John Toland's magnificent work "The Last 100 Days". ========= Marine,
Rudy is also involved in the Trans Texas corridor. He'll make a great president for the plutocrats and the Israel Firsters. |
|
|
I think Rudy has a heck of a nerve posing with foreign leaders. He's not president, has no authority to make foreign policy, and he clearly overstepped his bounds posing for a photo op with Prime Minister Brown. That's just another typical example of Republican arrogance so no one should be surprised. |
|
If we nominate anyone other than Rudy the dems will jump for joy!!
Virginia Patriot writes: 1:37 PM "You're going to have to get alot of Dems. to switch to make up for the gun owners, amnesty opponents, pro-life, and traditional marriage voters who will not vote for him."
Do you honestly think they'll not vote against Hillary?? She's 10 times worse than him on all of those issues!
Do you want to end up with another Bob Dole loss?
Don't you understand that the clintons are a MAJOR opponent?
Practically EVERYONE thinks "oh it will just like having Bill in the office, good economy, etc. etc." Not knowing the real danger that she poses to the economy.
And she is unbeatable with any other nominee.
Rudy is the ONLY one who can beat her with his strong National Security platform and Fame!
When the average voter thinks of him they think 9/11 hero/strong national security = president who can win the war on terror'
National Security weighs heavily on the collective consciousness in the U.S. also the economy does and this is what it will come down to;
Which candidate will be able to defeat the islamofascists and maintain a strong economy?
Hillary or Rudy?

Rudy if elected president would allow things in this country that will destroy it. Ex. Illegal Immigration. When will people wake up and understand that America will no longer be America in another 15-20 years if this problem isn't solved. Rudy's stance on this is pathetic and should immediately disqualify him from a chance at POTUS. |
|
Is even worse than LSD.
But hey, Rudy is one of the four most famous Americans, as he proclaimed to the international press yesterday.
So in addition to having an authoritarian streak a mile wide, Rudy the Urban Legend is completely full of himself.
Still, he was a terrific advocate for the illegals in his sanctuary city. And his Houston law firm is doing a yeoman like job of faciitating things that are important to Americans, NOT.
Bald Hillary, you go. |
|
Because that's what you must be taking to accuse the man who invented the term 'Iron Curtain' and spent all of the 1930's denouncing Stalin of 'cozying up to the commies'. He called his alliance with Stalin a deal with the devil, which he was driven to by FDR's policy of keeping this country out of war. Britain was bankrupted by Hillary Clinton look-alike and policy twin Clement Atlee whose misguided Labor party nationalized health care, the mines, the railroads and most heavy industry. By 1953 Britain still had rationing while Germany, which had been utterly destroyed eight years earlier did not. Decline and poverty are the result of the leftist policies you and your anti-semitic leftie friends advocate. The reason that Rudy is talked about in the same vein as Churchill is because he has imagination and courage. He goes against the prevailing wisdom. This war that you deny we're in is EXACTLY like World War 2 and the Cold War because it is being fought against totalitarians who want to impose their Utopian nostrums on the rest of us at gunpoint and are supported by people who arent able to distinguish between good and evil. |

If he can't get an amnesty no one can! |
|
|
Same as Bush's. Make them all legal. Multi-national money is what he was in London looking for. They want more cheap labor and Rudy will deliver, he has said as Mayor he wants them here. |
|
If we nominate Thomson whose conservatism isn't questioned as much as Rudy's - what's Thomson going to do in the office without sixty votes in the Senate? Nothing! That's if Thomson can win the elections in the first place.
In 1999 George W. Bush was more conservative than Rudy. We elected him ... and he can't even fire 8 attorneys without a mess. Same with Thomson, he won't get much done.
Rudy has kept his election promises! He trimmed the government, blossomed the economy, reduced (!) abortions, secured NYC, and much more. All that while working with hostile Demoncrat city council.
Rudy is the only candidate to have a plan for all major issues. Nowhere in his plans are anti-gun pro-drag pro-abortion agenda. These are NOT the issues that will be on presidential agendas. Border, islamism, and fiscal issues are what's on the agenda for the next 5 years.
Rudy IS the only one in the field who can crush Democrats and deliver while in the office.

Warren,
You're right. Another nail in Rudy for 9/11's coffin. Having that senile old fool as a foreign policy advisor tells us a lot about how Guiliani views the US. Apparently, his view is similar to Podhoretz's in that they view the US as one big supply dump and troop assembly area to serve as an annex to the IDF.
The idiotic comparison between what is going on today and WW II shows that Poddy is stuck in a past he doesn't understand.
I liked the time Poddy tried hitting up on Jackie Onassis and she told him to drop dead. |
|
He demonstrated why Guiliani is unfit to be president. Rudy is either ignorant of the facts or trying to pander to the AIPAC crowd. Paul nailed Rudy for the phoney he is.
Paddy,
That photo of Churchill with the tommy gun is a piece of Dr. Goebbel's propaganda. You probably thought it was real. |
|
The problem with conservative republicans is they are so often simplistic.
First, you know that the complete shutdown of immigrations is impossible--even the borders for that matter. So, let's not pretend that Tom Tancredo, for the wonderful things he has done, to which I often agree, would ever win the nomination, let alone the general election.
We need someone who is tough or border security but also that can appreciate and suppor legal immigration.
Second, don't be so naive or under the illusion that other than Rudy, all other conservative candidates are weak on Islamic terrorism. That is certainly one of the most ridiculous things I have ever read.
Except a few in the nomination list like the complete hopeless Ron Paul, I think the rest pretty much have the same clue about the threat of terrorism.
Third, as the Bush's dry and colorless presidency has shown, we need someone who is very very articulate, brilliant, has clear clue of what he is talking about, but also knows to pick the fight and the right words in countering the political opponents.
Just like Reagan with his wonderful like "there he goes again..."
Can we find that from the pack? So far, I can see none. Unfortunate, but it is true and frustrating!

"I'm probably one of the four or five best known Americans in the world," Giuliani told a small group of reporters at a posh London hotel "
This is from the same guy who once commented that freedom is about doing what we are told to do by our government. I'm sure he was wearing his patented condescending smirk when he said that. What a conceited a-hole. |
|
|
Paul has the same problem with truthers that the Dems have with MoveOn. They keep company with them and won't disavow them. Were Paul a serious candidate, it would have been shown spine for Rudy to stand up to him. Against such a non-candidate, it was just a cheap shot. |
|
|
I meant to write that Rudy is selling out our soveignty, not our amnesty. |
|
|
|
|
Exactly. Rudy is identical to Hillary. Incoherent. |
|
There are worse credentials than those of Rudy.
Yikes! What if we had Hussein Barack Obama as a Republican candidate? The guy has never even managed a lemonade stand and he cited his "degree in International Relations" as a qualification for being President.
As much as I like to poke fun at Rudy Girliani, if he wins the nomination, I WON'T sit the election out. |
|
"I realize there are angry, visceral folks who threaten to sit out the 2008 election, enabling the Clintonistas to once again occupy the White House, however, serious-thinking adults ought to realize that life doesn't always offer the "perfect" candidate---sometimes you just have to vote for the "better" or "less-worse" choice."
Why settle for the lesser of two evils? Vote Guiliani.
While the guy can campaign, judging by the foreign policy manifesto he put out, he's about as inexperienced and unrealistic as a candidate can get.
|
|
|
The effort against Islamic jihad should include border security and enforcing immigration laws. We cannot expect to win against the jihadis if we leave the back door open for them. In the process we are allowing our citizens to be raped, murdered and killed by illegal alien drunk drivers. How can we "win" by losing our country? |
|
The fight against Islamic Jihad is the most transcendent issue, and Rudy Giuliani realizes that.
Divorce, abortion, guns, same-sex marriage, yada, yada, yada---those are all secondary issues compared to the prospect of Al-Qaeda or Iran running around with nuclear weapons. I realize there are angry, visceral folks who threaten to sit out the 2008 election, enabling the Clintonistas to once again occupy the White House, however, serious-thinking adults ought to realize that life doesn't always offer the "perfect" candidate---sometimes you just have to vote for the "better" or "less-worse" choice.
By the way, Matt Lewis, when you add additional text to your post after several people have commented on it as you just did with this post, you should be above-board and present it as an "edit," or an "update." By changing your post without a notation, it is unfair to those whose comments were directed at your post as it originally appeared.
Otherwise, you come across as trying to be sneaky.

After seeing pictures of Rudy Girliani in drag, I can no longer ascertain with 100% certainty which "chap" he is in subsequent pictures.
In the above photo, is Rudy the one on the far left or the far right? Oh, sorry, that was a stupid question......Rudy could NEVER be on the FAR RIGHT!! |
|
|
Why try to appeal to the conservative base if he knows that they will not vote for him anyway! REAL LOWER TIER CANDIDATES show up for the "Value Voters Debate and Straw Poll", and Sir Rudy is across the ocean appealing to his Globalist Constituency?.........Says everything about his priorities. After 20 trips to Mexico City, who's surprised? Next stop Canada and promises of the NAFTA SUPER HIGHWAY!(Which is being represented by Bracewell & Guiliani)........Who needs American Citizens to win? |
|
Republican voters still get to decide who their nominee will be. Money only buys elections when people act like sheep. If 80% of Republicans are indeed seeking a conservative, we can nominate one. We can nominate Duncan Hunter. The money players won't like it and are trying to convince us only Rudy, Romney, or McCain can win. Hogwash. They want an open borders candidate. Give Americans a chance to vote for a candidate who WILL secure the border and watch turnout soar. Americans want their government to fulfill it's most basic responsibility.
The primary responsibility of the U.S. government is to protect the territorial integrity and people of this country. They have completely abdicated this responsibility. Both parties have been complicit in this. We are being told it is not possible to control our borders, enforce our laws, and thereby control our destiny as a nation. Hogwash. We are being sold out by corporations intent on importing workers for jobs that can't be exported with the taxpayers paying the true costs, financial and human. If we act like sheep and don't stop the inundation across our borders, we will lose our country without a bleat.

How about seizing the moment here in America! Congress is trying to sell out our amnesty again and again, Rudy is AWOL! Just like last time. And by the way, where are the other candidates? |
|
Brilliance and the condition of being a neocon are mutually exclusive, are they not?
Why don't you just go ahead and say it Matt:
Two bits, four bits, six bits a dollar, all for Rudy stand up and holler, Yeah!
Yes, the urban legend rolls on, and we all stand in rapt admiration. Is that cheering or bleating I hear? |
|
The best picture of Churchill I ever saw was one in which he was holding a tommy gun and had a cigar hanging out of his mouth.... Let's see Rudy do that picture....! |
|
You're going to have to get alot of Dems. to switch to make up for the gun owners, amnesty opponents, pro-life, and traditional marriage voters who will not vote for him.
