The Idiot Anti-Smoking Brigades Become Increasingly Offensive

Urging people not to smoke is fine. The people who populate TheTruth.com and its tactical brethren in other countries are likely driving more people to smoke than they save.

New Zealand's "Action on Smoking and Health" (Get it? ASH?) thought this might be a good way to encourage folks to get on board with a healthier lifestyle. At least the Truth kids aren't this bad:

Staying classier still, the copy reads: "Terrorism-related deaths since 2001: 11,337 Tobacco-related deaths since 2001: 30,000,000"

Here's where you can contact ASH to complain. Keep it as respectful as possible, even though they didn't afford 9/11 victims the same courtesy.

Hmm...
I don't smoke, but that ad makes me want to put on my flag shirt, fly down there and start chain smoking a pack in their offices.

That ad is obviously very tacky and disrespectful to America as well as to the surviving family members of those who perished in the WTCs. However, it's also a poor analogy for the New Zealand organization to assert. See, people C-H-O-O-S-E to smoke and are aware of the long-term consequences of lighting up, while the people inhabiting the WTCs did NOT choose to be attacked by terrorists and they were NOT aware of the fate which awaited them when they went to work the morning of Sept. 11, 2001. I still don't get why people smoke cigs...it screws up people's brain chemistry, and it wreaks havoc on their circulation system. And it ages people's faces.

I quit smoking 25 years ago. My mee-thane production increased since then, leading to my divorce and poverty. I admit responsibility for the global warming within 3 feet of my point of emission. Make it stop. Mea culpa!

How quickly do the contributors to this site forget Anne Coulter's (a Townhall.com contributor -- and given the coverage of her "Non-CPAC" CPAC appearance) own tasteless comments regarding the wives of the 9/11 victims? I imagine Townhall contributors ignored complaints related to that just as I'm sure this tasteless ASH campaign will ignore Townhall's complaints.
