Short-term AS IN Forever
Posted by: Jonathan Garthwaite at 8:49 AM
Do you really think that the $1 Trillion in stimulus is a one-time event?
Democrats want to use the big spending package designed to jump-start the staggering economy to send billions to long-term programs to help poor and disabled school children.

President Barack Obama's recovery plan amounts to the biggest increase ever in federal money for schools. Many Republicans say it is not a short-term boost but an immense expansion that will be impossible to roll back.

Just love it, as always...
...the hate-filled, gratuitously insulting, mindless diatribe of Scarlett is so inspiring. How conveniently she forgets that the majority party in both houses that passed that dastardly bailout "without oversight" was her darling democrat party. She conveniently also forgets how much money key democrat politicos have garnered from the Big Companies most benefitted by the bailout. And her emperor, pres. B. Hussein O., is proposing more of the same - but his adoring, sycophantic minions will see nothing wrong with that. Will you, dear.

Sweet Princess Caroline, under the bus!
In the middle of Evan Thomas' insidery campaign book, A Long Time Coming, there is a section on early conflict between John McCain and Barack Obama in the Senate, even before Obama was openly running for president. I thought this bit was interesting for more than one reason:

Obama further aliented McCain on the immigration issue. McCain took great political risks on immigration, defying the GOP faithful who wanted to build a wall across the Mexican border and arrest and detain illegal immigrants. Working with Ted Kennedy and a bipartisan group, McCain came up with compromise legislation to create a guest-worker program. Obama asked to join the group. The senators agreed to hang together to vote against amendments from both the right and the left. Some very conservative senators honored the agreement, voting against conservative amendments -- but Obama did not, voting in favor of a number of liberal amendments. After one meeting, Kennedy chewed Obama out for his fickleness. (Months later, asked by a colleague why he had endorsed Obama for president, Kennedy gave a one-word answer: "Caroline.")

Without reading too much into this anecdote, on immigration, at least, Barack Obama took care of his base and John McCain did not, and his base included Caroline Kennedy. She must indeed be a little bitter about now.

Obama's problem, too many IOUs
The Sweet Sweet Princess Caroline Patterson Bus Accident is just an example of what we are in store for. President Obama made a lot of promises and he cannot keep them all. Many will be disappointed.

Irresponsible
Given that the irresponsible spending of the previous administration got us into this mess, Obama has no excuse. Malia and Sasha and their contemporaries are going to spend the rest of their lives burdened by the debt brought upon us by the fiscal irresponsibility of Bush, Bush and Reagan. Obama just wants to add to it. This is ridiculous.

So what your saying is that it's ok to double the deficit ecause of Bush and Reagan. That's hillarious.

Obama: good at rhetoric and campaigns
Obama has said that he will stop government programs that are not effective. He has held public office since 1997. Where has he ever taken a definitive stand against profligate government spending and ineffective government programs?

Watch for more "gathering clouds and raging storms,” and long droughts from “the bitter swill" of even more difficult economic conditions.

Incompetency has now trickled up from Pelosi Galore and Harry "Coal Makes Me Sick" Reid.

What makes you think that any of us supported the bailouts in the first place?

What makes you think that we were big Bush supporters instead of being tremendously disappointed and disgusted with his performance ?

What makes you think that Bush is a conservative?

Deficits
Isn't it funny how the libs constantly complained about budget deficits during Bush's years yet trillion dollar deficits are somehow acceptable now that the ONE is president. Strange how the standards change LOL

Same old big spenders...
A way around the "no earmarks" policy BHO says will happen with this stimulus...

Change? or simply slight of hand
I read Fredosso's book "The Case Against BHO", and I have to say BHO's actions to date truly reflect those of hist past. BHO stated the other day the Stimulus package was intended to get votes for the 2010 and 2012 elections for dems and himself. He has spent his entire career voting on legislation that gets him contributions for campaigns...and the stimulus package is more of the same and a monstrous wish list off wasteful spending.

This isnt change. We dont need a huge package. What is needed is cool heads and common sense decisions. Cutting the costs of doing business will do more to stimulate the economy than anything else.

Repeal the other half of the original stimulus and throughout this bailout.
J writes: Monday, January, 26, 2009 7:07 AM
Problem with the stimulus
A major problem with the thought that the stimulus will create jobs is that if you look at those that are getting laid off, how does building roads help those that got laid off from financial institutions, software companies or other businesses?

It doesnt.

People need to call their congressman/women and senators and protest both the second half of the bailout and this so called 'stimulus' package.

Monkey Girl
None of us who care about our money will sit back and let this waste happen. Like I said- do any of you trolls have a clue how many zeros follow that 1?
Do you have any idea that in a country of 350 million people what 3k per person would do to stimulate growth as opposed to spending money that isn't there and for programs that already exist? i think not.

This is the stupidity of a liberal. You would rather insist that BHO is correct than see that the long term consequences will bury future generations.

You would rather ignore that the benefits of this bailout will not be seen until we are already in recovery.

It was not Bush economic policy that got us into this mess, but the banking and financial industries faulty practice, period. Bailouts with my tax dollars are not acceptable.

And to this I say, what would be so hard about simply riding this out and letting the industries that fukk up take their licks? Nothing. The longest recession the US has had of late is 30 months. We're halfway there.

YES WE CAN do without this money.

Mr. Obama's Neighborhood:
Meanwhile with friends like this:

Freep.com: You don’t think there is a distinction between domestic bombings … that hurt real people, and John McCain executing a mission over North Vietnam? Is there any difference in kind between those two acts?

Ayers: There is no difference in kind between killing of any human being. Any killing of any human being is a universe lost. Let’s be clear.

If we sat on a stage with Henry Kissinger, Robert McNamara, John McCain, John Kerry, Bob Kerrey, me and whoever else you want to put up there … George Bush. And then you could measure responsibility. And I’d be happy in that context and that company.

Freep.com: They are more guilty than you are?

Ayers: You think so? That’s what I’d love to see. Henry Kissinger is responsible for the death of millions. I’m responsible for the death of no one. Does that distinction not seem to matter? In other words, why am I held up as an example of something beyond the pale. Whereas Kissinger, hey it was normal. He was the secretary of state ... Yeah, he was the secretary of state overseeing an illegal, immoral, genocidal attack on civilians. That is terrorism, pure and simple.

Freep.com: Is there any difference in your view between that action and 2003-09 in Iraq?

Ayers: No.
