Going After The Children
Posted by: Jonathan Garthwaite at 9:01 AM
Thanks to the Huffington Post, unrepentant domestic terrorist Bill Ayers has a place to blog. His first post laments Obama's pragmatic choice for Secretary of Education but says it's a better choice that someone a Republican would nominate who would push "teacher accountability", "testing", and actually close bad schools and fire bad teachers.

His solution for Obama's pragmatic pick? Protest.

Obama is not a monarch -- Arne Duncan is not education czar -- and we are not his subjects. If we want a foreign policy based on justice, for example, we ought to get busy organizing a robust anti-imperialist peace movement; if we want to end the death penalty we better get smart about changing the dominant narrative concerning crime and punishment. We are not allowed to sit quietly in a democracy awaiting salvation from above. We are all equal, and we all need to speak up and speak out right now.
Does it bother anyone else that Bill Ayers wants to start up a "robust ant-imperialist peace movement"?

No more math and science either. They are just tools of every authoritarian regime.

Much of what we call schooling forecloses or shuts down or walls off meaningful choice-making. Much of it is based on obedience and conformity, the hallmarks of every authoritarian regime. Much of it banishes the unpopular, squirms in the presence of the unorthodox, hides the unpleasant. There's no space for skepticism, irreverence, or even doubt. While many of us long for teaching as something transcendent and powerful, we find ourselves too-often locked in situations that reduce teaching to a kind of glorified clerking, passing along a curriculum of received wisdom and predigested and often false bits of information. This is a recipe for disaster in the long run.

pragmatic? really?
Obama's made a pragmatic pick that william ayers doesn't agree with?

Seems to me that statement repudiates everything you people have been saying about How Obama will govern from the far left and how Bill Ayers would be secret running things from his living room.

Oh wait, I guess the guilt by association game didn't work and Obama's really pragmatic and Bill ayers is out on his own just like smart voters knew all along.

Funny thing is now thanks to the GOP Bill ayers is a national name and not in th way the gOp wanted. Way to go guys. Ayers wouldn't even be getting half the attention he has without morons trying to use the same failed strategy of smear and fear.

Now that we are done with this stupid execise
can we focus on the real problems a hand?

your an idiot
Frank you need to close your mouth as your mind is.This guy needs to be exposed and ran out of the school he is teaching at. He is one shinning example as to why we need to get control back from the teachers UNION and start canning idiots like this who are ruining our children. He need to go to work for bin laden and such, where his talents will be wanted and leave our children alone. Who ever put him in a role teaching our youth should be arrested along with him.You left wing idiots always do the same thing, duck and jab, never do you address the true issue, this guy is a danger to our youth and should be ezposed and removed from the school.

Mr. Ayers is a paltry man.
Bill Ayers has all the importance in America of a Gus Hall or Angela Davis.

Hiding in academe, frothing at the mouth and wearing his high blood pressure like a deep fryer set to blow; he's a fulminator without a following.

If he could get an assembly in the streets, we could meet him with a legion.
Yes, he bothers me. He is the bile at our banquet.

What a sad, sad little loser.
What is more delusional than portraying America as imperialist?
They may as well submit that the sky is green and the grass is blue.
Such people are to be pitied and protected from themselves, lest they start gnawing on their own arm, but are not to be allowed anywhere near our children.
Such would be akin to national suicide.
Frank writes: Saturday, January, 03, 2009 1:18 PM
of course douglas
first defense of the common ditto head is to smear and fear. this is why the GOP is in such dire straits.

Where was all this concern about Ayer's teaching programs during the election? I know! You didn't care then all you cared about are associations.
Funny how now you want to adress the issue-you are so pathetic its beyond sad.

1. I am a republican not a social conservative so please be aware that when you make assumptions 9 times out of ten people like you are generally wrong and wind up looking extremely foolish.

2. When a tactic fails-tying Obama to Ayers radicalism-you move on to SOMETHING THAT IS EFFECTIVE. Hence why the RNC needs new and fresh leadership.

No wonder we lost-with guys like douglas at the wheel we were doomed from the start.

As Ace so aptly put it...
Ariana Huffington would protate herself to Hitler to get a good table at Nobu.

Actually he described the specific act and misspelled Nobu, but you get the point.

What a dirty gutter scamp to hire Friend of Barack, Former Terrorist, Current Radical Bill Ayers to be one of her salon members. The truth comes out in the end.

Frank
I guessed you just missed all the "concern about Ayer's teaching programs during the election?"

There was plenty of it about but it's hard to get the true story out there when you have the likes of UIC trying to block good people like Stanley Kurtz from investigating just where the Annenberg money went and just how many Ayers backed radical progs were involved.

Ayers, should be given
all the respect that one would give an incarcerated felon. But for a "technicality", that is exactly what this piece of human debris is. He is a very small leftist, with equally small leftist's notions. He believes as all leftists believe, in things which fail, every time they are tried. Socialism and socialists, they are as welcome as a "turd in a swimming pool".
David writes: Saturday, January, 03, 2009 5:06 PM
Is this an insect imperative?
"Does it bother anyone else that Bill Ayers wants to start up a 'robust ant-imperialist [sic] peace movement'?"

a. I am bothered by the failure to proofread.

b. Mr. Ayers doesn't bother me in the least as long as his activities remain non-violent. He is entitled to his opinions; I am entitled to mine.

c. Were there not an effort to falsely link Mr. Obama to Mr. Ayers, then there would be no interest. They both served on the (Republican dominated) board of a 501(c)3. Apparently, Ayers hosted a house party for an Obama campaign. In case you don't know, a new politician would show for the endeavors of a street-person in their cardboard box hosting a campaign party.

It's "YOU'RE an idiot'"
"your an idiot

Dr. Ayers teaches at the college level. I doubt that there is any union involved. Moreover, I believe that he is tenured and he is a full professor.

You can skip the talking point. Ayers is only an issue if you plan on attending the University of Illinois at Chicago. In that event, I recommend that you not register for any of his courses.

David has such high, noble, standards:
"I am bothered by the failure to proofread."

Julie writes: Saturday, January, 03, 2009 10:50 PM
Ayers proofreads quite well...
that does not mean he should command our respect.
