Conservatives Show More Kids--and a Brighter Future

When the McCain and Palin families assembled together on stage at the conclusion of the Republican Convention in Minnesota, I felt profoundly encouraged about the future. There are seven McCain children, and five Palins—for a total of twelve offspring for the ticket. Among the Democrats, Senator Obama has two children, and Senator Biden has three – for a total of five. Meanwhile, in an interview scheduled for broadcast this Monday, Michelle Obama told TV host Ellen DeGeneres “I’m done” when asked if she wanted another child. “This campaign is that child,” she said.
Of course, it’s possible that some of the McCain and Palin kids will find themselves influenced by friends or professors and abandon the conservative outlook of their parents – just as some of the Obama and Biden kids could shock their mothers and fathers with their own right turns. But studies show that the overwhelming majority of Americans (over 80%) replicate the political affiliation of the previous generation. This means that the population of conservatives (with their larger families) should grow more rapidly that the numbers of liberals (with their enthusiasm for Planned Parenthood and their substitution of campaigns for kids). Demographer Philip Longman has written about this phenomenon in Foreign Affairs and other publications. In other words, a more welcoming and protective attitude toward children and human life not only benefits conservatives with more fulfilling lives (as I fervently believes) but helps to secure a brighter political future. The crowded stage in St. Paul, compared to the less numerous Democratic display in Denver, may well provide a vision of things to come.

|
That's what they are calling you. Actually the Dems are doing us a genetic favor by not breeding. |
|
|
What about all of the children born to uneducated illegal immigrants? I don't think that they're conservatives. |
|
Bill Schnieder of CNN declares that it was because of Iraq:
It's always been an article of belief among Republicans that they lost the 2006 congressional elections because of their abandonment of one of these core Republican principles and their embrace of federal overspending.
That's simply not true; they lost because of Iraq. But they refuse to believe it.
The Iraq issue has really receded in importance in this campaign. It was the central issue in 2006 but not 2008. And one of the ironies is that more Americans think we're winning in Iraq, but more Americans believe that Obama will handle the issue better than McCain.
http://www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/09/05/schneider.speech/ind ex.html
Undoubtably that is true for Democrats. And certainly some Indies and Republicans either voted Dem or did not vote at all because of incompetence during the Iraq Occupation.
But over spending and the apperance (real and imagined) in the GOP ranks, both spending wise and sexually with certain politicans, also hurt the GOP badly--especially with its base.
McCain to his credit was on the right side of the Iraq occupation, the right side of fiscal matters, and the right side of pork barrel politics. McCain infuriated some conservatives, but he did not come off as a phoney and hypocrite. While his first marriage did not last, he has been a great father and has lived family values for the last 25 years.
It is leading not merely by rhetoric but by example that counts. To their credit, Barack and Michelle Obama seems to be great parents too (as do the Bidens). But McCain and Palin embrace certain values and also live them, and that is a powerful message. |
|
|
When was the last time you heard anybody called this in politics.Okay how about the pop idols your children emulate, lets see:PDiddy,Britney spears,Snoop dog.We need to get wholesome back in our vocabulary.Sarah Palin could help with that. |
|
In the past three presidential elections, the Democratic ticket had more or the same amount of children than the Republican ticket.
Kerry and Edwards, 5 children (8 including steps) Bush and Cheney, 4
Gore and Lieberman, 7 (8 including steps) Bush and Cheney, 4
Clinton and Gore, 5 Dole and Kemp, 5
Stop being silly. A single example is not evidence of anything. Demographically, Republican chances don't look good, since they are a party of white people and white people have a smaller and smaller share of the electorate.
|
|
|
Proud conservative and future (I'm only 21) mother of, at least, five! |
|
|
To say you're pro-life is one thing to prove it it something else indeed. Betting on the surge McCain put his political career on line and it worked proving once again that he is right. |
|
|
Relax Hazel just look at it as baby offsets. You kill them we raise them. |
|
at 7th grade, they teach that christian crusaders were horrific invaders. and say Islam was spread as peaceful merchants. then they teach the agricultural slavery of America while ignoring the 100s of millions inslaved in the Middle East to this day, and thusly the Liberal Lies begin and our children grow up ashamed of christianity, America, and scream & hate their parents, and the Atheists, Marxist, tenured professors pretense multicutural equality and on it goes to the big city Media, Hollywood, websites. So don't underestimate the non-producing's plan to take the children of conservatives.
|
|
with the left, watch Real Time this week. After Jeffrey Toobin and Bill Maher go over every Palin lie in misleading false detail as they were fact, Bill and his guests attempt to lynch Michael Steele for having the audacity to defend McCain-Palin.
Seriously, it was not close to funny. It was sick in its relentlessness. |
|
Right. It's a great family photo op.
The 17-year-old knocked up daughter of a governor who line-itemed vetoed funds for a teenage pregnancy prevention fund.
And..... if she's such a great Mom, try taking a peek at the "Face Book" page of her future son-in-law. He's a little monster.
What kind of Mom or Dad would let a boy like that anywhere near their child?
GOP Family Values!!!! |
|
|
That line that Gov. Palin vetoed funds for a teenage pregnancy crisis group is a flat out lie, which has already been debunked, on statements from the organization itself. Palin's administration gave that group less that what they wanted to, due to budget constraints, but more than the group had received in previous years. |
|
|
Conservatives don't kill their future as the Pro-Death Democrats do. Conservatives marry partners with whom they can produce offspring. Conservatives nourish, support and preserve family relationships. It stands to reason there would be more children surrounding them. |
|
|
|
|
fake military funerals and have to resort to using stock photo's of African-Americans in McCains life story movie in order to try and pull the wool over America's eyes. |
|
|
The reasons to vote for these two just keep piling up. The fact that they have more children than their opponents is just one more reason why they'd be better leaders. |
|
To add to Julie's response, Gov. Palin reduced a budget allocation for a multi-year project and decided to fund it on a yearly allocation instead of an all in one funding request. Covenant House had requested $10 million, the Legislature allocated $5 million and Governor Palin reduced it to $3.9 Million (an increase of $2.6 million from 2007!)
The funds that were allocated(2008) were a substantial increase from the funding allocated the previous year.
Here's a quote from the Executive Director of Covenant House Alaska, Deirdre Cronin:
"Despite some press reports to the contrary, our operating budget was not reduced. Our $3.9 million appropriation is directed toward a multi-year capital project and it is our understanding that the state simply opted to phase in its support for this project over several years, rather than all at once in the current budget year."
Dude, quit drinking the kool-aid! |
|
Don't you think using an actual funeral would be something the Code Pink Democrats would do??? Intruding on a family's time of sorrow by filming it for any reason would be sinking to the Democrats level.
As to the use of stock photos...do you have any proof or is it just another of the talking points you received form your handlers at the DNC??? |
|
|
Medved is right as the logical outcome is that pro-choice liberals have diminished their strength and will, as non-breeders, secure their own ultimate political abortion. Little Trig has become the poster child for the value of life. |
|
The Republicans are correct to make this a focus of our campaign. It is about the future of our children/grandchildren who will lead that future! It is only right that they should be upfront and center when talking about the issues in America and in our world today!
When President Elect McCain asked us all to "fight with him" in the coming days and years to come - he meant "fight" for our children! Fight to keep America free, fight to keep families financially sound, fight to protect our shores and our land, fight to give our children the best of an education, the best of healthcare and all the best we can provide to them.
Isn't that what life is all about? Isn't that what each of our parents/grandparents and now we, wanted for our children? To have a better world and future than what they or we had? I will fight for that - I am fighting for that in this blog. By just writing this comment - I am fighting for that.
I attended the rally yesterday in Sterling Heights, Michigan. I was there with people of like mind. People who viewed President Elect McCain and Vice President Elect Palin as our hope for our leadership for tomorrow. They exhibit all the qualities and policies that we embrace. I will fight with them for the future of my children/grandchildren and I, and they, are going to fight for yours too! |
|
Ex-Pat,
Are you a friend of Levi Johnston on Facebook? If not then you did not see his Facebook page, because one of the advantages of Facebook is that you have to accept or reject friends before they can see all of your info. I suspect what you saw was a public Facebook page that was put up by someone whose intent was causing the reader to question Levi Johnston's character.
So the two "facts" you listed are completely unsubstantiated. Please don't come here criticize GOP family values with unsubstantiated info.
And you imply that Palin is a hypocritic?!?! |
|
Ex-Pat,
If you did real research, you would look beyond the talking point made by partisans.
For instance, I know that Levi Johnston did have a fairly crude Myspace page, and I suspect that he is in need of quite a bit of character development. On the other hand, the fact that Palin's have decided continue to love their daughter and encourage the young man to do the right thing, in spite of their bad choices, shows that while they are not perfect parents they are still trying to do their best.
Furthermore, if you have ever gone to the myspace page of any young person that you know, you might be surprised that it does not match the person you know. Kids get stupid on-line and often their pages are outlandish and do not reflect who they are in real life. I suspect Johnston is neither the wonderful young Republican that some GOP partisan's sites may portray him to be, nor is he the second coming of Hugh Hefner that some Lib's seem to be claiming he is. |
|
|
Really, that's the new test? Whoever has the most kids wins? Whoever has the most kids would make the better leader? Okay- so how about a welfare mom, you know, the ones you all talk about with 6 & 7 kids, I guess they would really know how to run the country. This is why America is losing it's standing because of the lack of intelligence of the average voting AMerican. When did being smart become a bad thing? Oh, when it causes people to be RATIONAL. I have two kids, been married for 20 years and have a very loving moral family. The number of kids I have doesn't make me better, worse, smarter, or dumber...it's a choice we made based on economics and health. This is by far the most stupid thing I have ever read. |
|
Reading through these rancorous, hate-filled posts I can only assume that you and your wife are proud to identify, expecially since you never challenge any of them.
As for your wide-eyed support of Sarah Palin, I thought I would send you the list of books that Palin wanted removed from her public library, and tried to fire the librarian who refused:

reveals a mind that is uneducated, bigoted, narrow, frightened, and superstitious.
Just what we need for a Commander in Chief. |
|
Somehow Sarah Palin was able, in 1996, to anticipate the release of the Harry Potter series, whose first book was published in 1998. Apparently.
This list has been debunked. And shame on Barack Obama for allowing this lie to appear on his own campaign website. |
|
I have had several Democratic friends and family go absolutely nuts about Palin in the last week. They are really shook up. They would politely tollerate my support of McCain (I do not talk politics with my Dem friends so much, because it is a good way to save friendships). But lately they have been going into rants, some of them almost violent in nature.
For Obama supporters it was not supposed to be like this. That is why they are acting so crazy. I am pleasantly suprised by the turn of McCain's fortune.
It is not that Obama is a terrorist, he most certainly is not, but Obama is definitely part of the shady and corrupt world of Chicago politics--which is what the ties to Rezko, Ayers and Dohrn show. And these ties also show the hypocrisy of Obama's new poltics of change. It is more than merely having a few friends who commited crimes in the past, it is owing actual favors to these criminals.

Medved is like a kid who was bullied at school and then grows up to try and join the bullies.
Here's the responsible soon-to-be-husband of Palin's daughter - in his own words:
"I'm a f - - -in' redneck" who likes to snowboard and ride dirt bikes.
"But I live to play hockey. I like to go camping and hang out with the boys, do some fishing, shoot some s- - - and just f - - -in' chillin' I guess."
"Ya f - - - with me I'll kick [your] a--."
"I don't want kids."
Truly the perfect new father in this age of GOP hypocrisy. |

Republicans pulling wool over the eyes of America? Sure... -I think most forget that the Republicans are the ones who were against slavery and led the charge to abolish it. In fact, the Republican party was formed in the first place in opposition to the Kansas-Nebraska Act that would have allowed the expansion of slavery into Kansas. -Martin Luther King Jr. (and Sr.) was a Republican. His niece, Dr. Alveda C. King confirms this. -The DNC conveniently OMITS the history tied to Democrats and slavery, segregation, opposition to the constitutional amendments that gave Blacks rights, and their part in the creation of the Ku Klux Klan. In fact, they have sanitized themselves from historical reality and over the years have managed to pin the Republicans with the "Old, white people" racial prejudices. See the National Black Republican website for links to this info. The Republican party has changed somewhat over the years, but still endorses the same values that made them against slavery in the first place. One of the fundamental beliefs of Republicans, which is often miscontrued as self-righteousness and elitism, is that government should teach people to do more for themselves versus having government do it for them. In the long run, which approach, when embraced and put into practice, is really better for the individual? Think about it...

I have always felt that conservatives live happier, more fulfilled lives. I enjoy my life, my home, my husband, etc., and so do most of those I associate with. It seems that most of the angry, hate-filled blogs I read come from DEMS. I feel sorry for those who feel victimized, angry, and helpless. I think so many of us relate so well with Sarah Palin - we have problems that accompany this life but generally feel happy, empowered, and ready to keep moving on. Thanks for your article! |
|
Yeah, they're good tax deductions.
;)
PS. Someone was tallying up the candidates' children on another post, demonstrating that in past elections, Dems had more. I appreciate the homework, but I do know that Laura Bush almost died giving birth to Barbara and Jenna. They probably wanted to have more, I don't know.
But the point of the blog is in the second paragraph. Conservatives like babies, and the ones I know, like making babies. And that is just a good thing all the way around. |
|
And liberals don't? I love babies, and love that all my liberal friends are having them! I go to baby showers constantly.
Conservatives so fundamentally misunderstand liberals. We think people should have the liberty to make decisions about their own body. We do not think there should be a government bureaucracy to decide HOW threatened a woman's life needs to be before she can terminate a pregnancy, or that a rape victim should have to file a lot of paperwork, or that a woman should be forced to bring a baby with no chance of survival to term.
But we still have babies, and love babies! Our defense of personal liberty against encroaching government doesn't mean we don't have kids.
Demographically, things look better for Democrats, since the fastest growing part of the population is Latinos, who Republicans have worked so thoroughly to alienate.
|
|
You are talking to the wrong person about terminating a pregnancy.
When Mary greeted Elizabeth, the baby leaped in her womb for joy. All the emotion, the genetic uniqueness, the form and likeness of a human, are there.
You are not defending rape victims and mother's lives in danger. You very well know that.
I am not going to talk to you about "keep your laws off my body." Our laws protect your same body from being raped, murdered, stolen from, and in many cases, slandered. Laws are good for your body, and they are good for the baby's body.
We don't have anything to say to eachother. It has been said.

Yttrium..excellent rebuttal.
That list ZERObama's website had up..was supposed to do what????
Skimming over the list..there are several there that have no business in a school library. These trolls have been raking Palin, Bristol and Levi over the coals for days. Yet they get their knickers in a twist at the mere hint that ..feavens to betsy..a dirty book would be off limits to kids. Fanny Hill is porn!!! And these deviant minded sewer rats are having hissy fits because it was rumored Sarah wanted them out of the schools. Maybe if there were more "healthy" reading matter in the schools, the progressively prurient marxists wouldn't have to get to "het" up over a 17 year old girls pregnancy and her 18 year old boyfriend. Hypocrites!!!!!
Mother of five birth children and one adopted son with more black blood in his veins than Zerobama and NO arab blood. Birth children's father is 1/4 American Indian. And grandmother of 15 grandchildren. Makes your teeth hurt sucking air in too fast Hazel..15..FIFTEEN beautiful grandkids! And 13 are/were homeschooled, since three have graduated already.

The MSM is going to try everything they can to destroy Sarah Palin over the next two months. Already, they've tried to portray the Palin family as white trash; lose women getting preggers.
Everyday between now and November 4th we need to talk to everyone we come across, especially our friends and family members. Make sure everyone is registered to vote, and that they know what the important facts are. America is depending on everyone to get involved; we're in for a fight against Obama and the MSM propaganda machine. The stakes are too high, and America simply cannot afford Obama, on oh so many levels. Are any members of your family Obamabots? Rescue them from the cult! We've got to get the word out, and perhaps word of mouth from "the Average American" is the most trustworthy endorsement a candidate could have.
|
|
Thank you.
If Sarah Palin ever said these books were inappropriate for certain ages, well, there she goes.
I do not agree with taking books out of public schools...I say, take the students out--in a MASS EXODUS!
And John McCain is right: educational choice is the civil rights issue of our time. I am sick of my life from paying for government schools, and trying to educate my own children on what is left over. |
|
Medved is really scratching the bottom of the barrel here. The Republican ticket is optimal because it has more kids, and therefore represents the wave of the future? Hardly. Conservatives, in general, are more close-minded and afraid of change than Liberals - and in this 21st century world of complex international relations and immediate access to information via the internet, more and more young people are opening their minds to the fact that the world is not as black and white as their parents assured them.
I am a proud American, but I winced through the Republican national convention and its relentless chants of "USA! USA!" by people who are not fully aware of the complete role this country has played on the world stage since its inception. There has been much good, to be sure, but we've made our share of mistakes - supporting bloody dictatorships, supplying arms to insurgents and fomenting civil wars for our economic and ideological interests. The phrase "my country right or wrong" only works if you are prepared to accept that your country has indeed taken some wrong turns, and from what I can tell, Conservatives are not willing to make that rational leap.
Which is all a long way to say that more and more young people are becoming more and more educated about the complexity of the world - and once their mind is opened, they are able to see and appreciate situations as more than just black or white, good versus evil. This taxes the Republican base, which depends on folks who see the world in simple, basic terms.
So count the candidates' children if you'd like, and read into those figures what you may - the fact is, the smarter America becomes, the more Liberals there will be. Because you'd have to be an idiot to close your eyes to the truth that is slapping you in the face.
Thanks, Medved, for providing the kind of idiocy that makes me proud to be a Liberal. |
|
Yes, God forbid any of your family have any Arab blood in them - would you love them any less?
Comments like this make the far wing of the right seem like racist, close-minded fools. Can you blame us Liberals for doing all we can to keep the reins away from your hands? |
|
Your ideology is blinding your ability to reason.
That list of books "banned" by Palin is a hoax. Really, even my kiddies know not to believe everything they read. Unless you can find a source, you should stop spreading lies. They only makes you look gullible.
PS - In the other versions of this hoax, these books were "banned" from a town library, and the year was 1996 (before the Harry Potter series was published). Besides, does any THINKING liberal (which is beginning to look more and more like an oxymoron these days) believe Palin would ban The Living Bible? And what's up with putting Huck Finn on there twice?
|

|
The liberals are compounding their problem by promoting abortion. |
|
|
is that they are not making a choice about a womans' body or a womens life. They are making the choice to dismember and rip apart another human being's body and destroy another human being's life. The child in the womb is a wholly unique human being, only relying on the woman for sustanance for a short time. The woman, should she choose not to continue caring for the child once it is no longer dependant on her, has the option of placing the child for adoption. There are millions of families who would eagerly adopt these supposed unwanted children. Abortion is a selfish, cynical choice. It's a choice the we Americans, as a nation will have to answer for. We have murdered over 50 million babies since 1973. May God have mercy on us. |
|
|
Yes conservatives outbreed liberals. But there is little point when most of them hand over their kids to the liberals to be indoctrinated, and pay the liberals to do it! The churchgoers among conservatives would balk at liberalism being taught for one hour of Sunday School, but are oblivious to the liberalism of the Monday-to-Friday schools, for six hours per day. |
|
compares a Presidential campaign to a child. How utterly ridiculous. The Obamas - are both very educated, very left, very wrong about this country, very suspect, and very tiresome. The American public is sick and tired of politicians - Obama is one of the worst we have seen in ages - we are ready for a fresh, honest, average person - and lucky for us - one has come along. McCain/Palin - 2008!!!! |
|
they are just jealous b/c Palin and her family have the drive and determination to do what they only dream of. They hate what they cannot be because the fear commitment. Michelle My Bell's comments about the campaign being her child show her to be the bitter, lame, America Hating Nubian Princess that she is. It's simple, just leave and go find a country that you can be proud of. They can't take down Palin on issues becasue there's not much ammo (like Obama's lack of record). So they attack the family because they are spineless. Bill Maher? He's an angry homosexual with no place to vent his homocentric views - so he has cable.
Palin's family is taking this head on and good for them. Just get over yourselves you sick Dems and find something worthwhile. I wonder how long it is before Biden has to pull out of the ticket so they can get Hillary on it? |
|
"Over population Doesn't seem to be on the GOP radar screen. Self-centered, is what it's called." -- The fact that the world is NOT overpopulated doesn't seem to be on Hazel's radar screen. Self-obsessed is what that's called.
"And don't you love how McCain and the Republicans all embrace the boy who got Bristol pregnant! Amazing! You can't make this stuff up." -- Yeah, we were all expecting them to have him arrested or conscripted into the Army or ... something.
"we can only guess that is what the official GOP talking point is now on teen pregnancy - so long, of course, that the expecting teens are of a Republican RW bent {extremists optional}. In other words: IOKIYAR" -- Nothing has changed. Nothing AT ALL has changed! It isn't "okay", but you react by providing love and support to the pregnant teen. What you DON'T do is abandon the teen or, worse, encourage her to kill it. The last thing you need to do is compound one mistake with another. No double-standard; one standard, regardless of political affiliation.
"Palin is FAIR GAME for criticism from the American people who are expected to vote for the best qualified candidates in this election." -- She is fair game for FAIR CRITICISM. Try to come up with some, rather than repeating this sexist gutter-tactic "unfit mother" crap. |
|
"Conservatives so fundamentally misunderstand liberals." -- Oh, did u make a pun? Good for u! What a cwever wittle libby u are!
"We think people should have the liberty to make decisions about their own body." -- You think that unborn children should have no liberty AT ALL.
"We do not think there should be a government bureaucracy to decide HOW threatened a woman's life needs to be before she can terminate a pregnancy," -- Nobody thinks that; NOBODY! So why'd you say it? Does lying make you feel empowered?
"or that a rape victim should have to file a lot of paperwork, or that a woman should be forced to bring a baby with no chance of survival to term." -- Answer to my previous question: Apparently it does.
"Our defense of personal liberty against encroaching government doesn't mean we don't have kids." -- Who said that it does? Another lie.
"Demographically, things look better for Democrats, since the fastest growing part of the population is Latinos, who Republicans have worked so thoroughly to alienate." -- Republicans are working to alienate Latinos? Get ready, you know what's coming ... LIAR. |
|
"The 17-year-old knocked up daughter of a governor who line-itemed vetoed funds for a teenage pregnancy prevention fund." -- Yet another pathetic lie.
"And..... if she's such a great Mom, try taking a peek at the "Face Book" page of her future son-in-law. He's a little monster." -- Lays out all of his plans to be a career criminal, does he?
"What kind of Mom or Dad would let a boy like that anywhere near their child?" -- What kind of mom & dad would let a boy like you wear that plastic bag over your head until you turned blue and passed out?
"Maybe if you see it in her own handwriting you'll believe it?" -- Maybe if you actually read it you'll understand it? It was funds for the EXPANSION of an EXISTING FACILITY; she reduced the amount from $5 million to $3.9 million. Horrors! She was making the tough decisions a REAL executive has to make: limiting the money spent on some programs so that all necessary programs receive a useful level of funding and the state stays out of debt. |
|
"Really, that's the new test? Whoever has the most kids wins?" -- Medved did not say that.
"Whoever has the most kids would make the better leader?" -- He did not say that either.
"Okay- so how about a welfare mom, you know, the ones you all talk about with 6 & 7 kids, I guess they would really know how to run the country." -- What a fantastic extrapolation! First, you falsely accuse Medved of saying the candidate with more kids makes a better leader; then, you falsely extend that to mean that kids from a large family make better leaders. Where do you work, Lies 'R' Us?
"This is why America is losing it's standing because of the lack of intelligence of the average voting AMerican." -- Are you quite sure that it isn't due to a lack of commas?
"When did being smart become a bad thing?" -- NOW you know why they locked you in the closet when you were little.
"Oh, when it causes people to be RATIONAL." -- There are NO irrational smart people? Have you actually watched one of Obama's speeches?
"I have two kids, been married for 20 years and have a very loving moral family." -- tankufoknothavinmo.
"The number of kids I have doesn't make me better, worse, smarter, or dumber...it's a choice we made based on economics and health." -- Again, nowhere in his column does Medved say that people with more kids are smarter or better. Hate to say it but, the fact that you so completely misinterpreted what he wrote denotes a lack of intelligence.
"This is by far the most stupid thing I have ever read." -- Re-read your own post. |
|
"Medved is really scratching the bottom of the barrel here." -- You are really scratching your balls here.
"The Republican ticket is optimal because it has more kids, and therefore represents the wave of the future?" -- You're half right, which is probably the best you can hope for.
"Conservatives, in general, are more close-minded and afraid of change than Liberals" -- If by that you mean 'more resistant to embracing impossible dreams', you are correct.
"and in this 21st century world of complex international relations and immediate access to information via the internet, more and more young people are opening their minds to the fact that the world is not as black and white as their parents assured them." -- Congratulations; the indoctrination took hold.
"I am a proud American, but I winced through the Republican national convention and its relentless chants of "USA! USA!" by people who are not fully aware of the complete role this country has played on the world stage since its inception." -- The inception of the world stage, or the inception of this country? Which came first? [Ha! Chicken & egg jokes kill.]
"The phrase "my country right or wrong" only works if you are prepared to accept that your country has indeed taken some wrong turns, and from what I can tell, Conservatives are not willing to make that rational leap." -- Well, it IS hard to accept that the country has taken a wrong turn toward liberalism. |
|
"Which is all a long way to say that more and more young people are becoming more and more educated about the complexity of the world" -- Which is a long way to repeat what you already said.
"and once their mind is opened, they are able to see and appreciate situations as more than just black or white, good versus evil." -- Their "mind"? as in, their GROUP mentality?
"This taxes the Republican base, which depends on folks who see the world in simple, basic terms." -- Also known as stark, correct terms.
"So count the candidates' children if you'd like, and read into those figures what you may - the fact is, the smarter America becomes, the more Liberals there will be." -- And THAT isn't seeing the world in black or white? Liberals - smart, conservatives - dumb? You are both wrong AND disingenuous.
"Because you'd have to be an idiot to close your eyes to the truth that is slapping you in the face." -- By all means, I insist that you keep your eyes open while I pu*a-slap you.
"Thanks, Medved, for providing the kind of idiocy that makes me proud to be a Liberal." -- Insert "for allowing me to post" in-between "providing" and "the kind"; then you'll have it right. |
|
"You are now basing the qualifications of our next President on the number of their offspring?" -- At least you put it in the form of a question, although it's still sad that you asked it at all. NO, Medved did not say that!
"As if barck Obama and Joe Biden love their children and wives any less?" -- Sorry. Neither did Medved say that Obama bin Biden love their families less. Shove your "as if" UP your "as if"!
"How pathetic - you right wingnuts have gone off the deep end." -- How pathetic - you libertards have to lie in order to criticize something you don't understand. |

it is reassuring to think that "...studies show that the overwhelming majority of Americans (over 80%) replicate the political affiliation of the previous generation", but we are not watching closely enough what public education and the teachers' unions are doing to distort that statistic. |

Byron York at the Corner after reviewing Palin's performance in the Alaska Governor Debates:
On a few other issues, there was a passage in the debate that will lay to rest all those reports we have seen that Palin supports abstinence-only education when it comes to sex. It seems Palin had written in a questionnaire that she opposed "explicit" sex-ed programs, so she was asked:
In a recent survey you said that you would support abstinence-until-marriage education but that you would not support explicit sex-ed programs. What are explicit sex-ed programs, and does that include talking about condoms in school?
Palin's answer:
No, I don't think that it includes something that is relatively benign. Explicit means explicit. No, I am pro-contraception, and I think kids who may not hear about it at home should hear about it in other avenues. So I'm not anti-contraception. But yeah, abstinence is another alternative that should be discussed with kids. I don't have a problem with that. That doesn't scare me, so it's something that I would support also.

Well imagine that, Sarah Palin is not the crazy absolute fundamentalist "Christianist" they* have been making her out to be on public school sex education either.
* "they" are the more rabid left leaning journalists and pundits who are still pretending they are being objective about McCain-Palin. But personally I like Glenn Reyonold's description of them as the "insane clown posse." http://www.pajamasmedia.com/instapundit/archives2/024016.p hp Andrew Sullivan is of course driving the mini car that these clowns spill out of every now and again. |

It amazes me that we have such a weathl of talent inthe GOP and who do we choose? The McBarbie ticket. Both are flawed.
Hucklabee and his bigot brigade put a very bad taste in my mouth. NEVER votefor anyone associated with the Evangalical movement. You can flush my vote, each and everytime you put a bigot (even by association). Palin has a daughter who can't seem to fit that wedding ring on her finger, even 5 months after learning she has a virgin birth happening. She has a potential son in law who is a drop out, with zero future, and zero intent to marry, unless at the business end of a gun. She has a downs baby that she parades out so we can 'feel her pain" ye, I seriously doubt she's taken any time to bond. Affairs are not rumors anymore. THIS WOMAN DOES NOT REPRSENT ME OR MY FAMILY. McCain deep sixed his frinds, for the barbie bimbo vote, and the handclapping snake handling evanglical vote. Good luck with that one. You lost me at Howdy.
Obama 08, CONSERVATIVES back in 12. |

Interesting that the most liberal or Blue districts have the lowest fertility rates. Compare very Red Douglas County Colorado with very Blue San Francisco, Boston, or Vermont. Or Utah (very Red) with Rhode Island and New York. This trend holds true for other Red States (Texas, South Carolina, Alaska, Georgia) and Blue States (California, Washington, Illinois, and Pennsylvania).
Red States or districts have children; blue states or districts do not (or have fewer children). Could abortion be hurting the Democrats? Birth Control, the gay agenda?
Look to Europe for the answers. Most of Western Europe has the same beliefs as today's Dems. Europe's fertility rate averages 1.7 children per couple (cannot count Islamic families as they are not nearly as hedonisitc as European families). Spain, Greece, Italy, Bulgaria, Holland, and Great Britian have on average only 1.1 children per couple.
In Utah, the Conservative Mormons average 5 children per couple (even more than Muslims). The future doesn't look bright for the Dems. |
|
An example of what is on the required reading list in high school AP English because there are questions about it on the AP english exam Get a clue what these people are about How they desensitize children to obvious perversion and then hold up their moral failings for shock and awe btw my daughter asked for an alternative book after reading two chapters and my son had a teacher who refused to assign the book

The legend lives on from the Gray Lady on down To the network they call “Fair and Balanced.” The MSNBC, it is said, never gives up her dead When the skies of September turn gloomy.
With a load of delegates - 2,500 or more Than the Barack Obama weighed empty That good ship and true was a bone to be chewed When the gales of November came early
The ship was the pride of the Democrat side Rising out of the machine in Chicago As big ships go it beat out Team Hillary so With a campaign and the Veep well seasoned.
Concluding some terms with special interest groups When they left fully loaded for Cleveland And later that night when the ships bell rang McCain announced Sarah Palin.
The Kos and the Dish made a tattletale sound Claiming that McCain was insane First it was Trig, and then it was Bristol, This would finish the old man off early.
Gustav came late and the GOP convention to wait And bets were being taken when she would drop out But when the Governor spoke to the assembled folk The Dems were in the face of a hurricane Palin
When supper time came the old Veep came on deck Saying I hear that life starts at conception At 7AM when Intrade caved in Biden said fellas it's been good to know ya.
Then Captain hit a shoal called "New Pennsylvania" And the Dem ship and crew was in peril And later that night when Mac’s polls went out of sight Came the wreck of the Barack Obama.

Hope you are right Michael. May Christian, conservatives (around the world) live long and prosper and be a shining witness to those living in a world of darkness. |

"It amazes me that we have such a weathl [sic] of talent inthe [sic] GOP and who do we choose? The McBarbie ticket. Both are flawed." -- And Obama bin Biden are not? "Hucklabee [sic] and his bigot brigade put a very bad taste in my mouth. NEVER votefor [sic] anyone associated with the Evangalical [sic - and it's a tough one; it contains "angel"] movement." -- Since when is Huckabee is emblematic of ALL evangelicals?
"You can flush my vote, each and everytime [sic] you put a bigot (even by association)." -- So you admit that you're painting with a broad brush, but refuse to take it back.
"Palin has a daughter who can't seem to fit that wedding ring on her finger, even 5 months after learning she has a virgin birth happening." -- A "virgin birth", Mr. Mixed Metaphor? Will it at least be halfway better if they get married before that birth, virgin or otherwise?
"She has a potential son in law who is a drop out [LIE], with zero future [LIE], and zero intent to marry [LIE], unless at the business end of a gun." -- That's right. They're all hill-folk trailer-trash.
"She has a downs [sic] baby that she parades out so we can 'feel her pain" -- Why did the other candidates parade out THEIR children?
"I seriously doubt she's taken any time to bond." -- Don't let the fact that YOU DON'T KNOW stop you.
"THIS WOMAN DOES NOT REPRSENT [sic] ME OR MY FAMILY." -- Not unless you live IN Alaska, rather than the state of denial.
"McCain deep sixed [sic] his frinds [sic], for the barbie bimbo vote, and the handclapping [sic] snake handling [sic] evanglical [sic] vote." -- You couldn't be less respectful to her if you tried. And who are these friends that McCain deep-sixed?
"Good luck with that one. You lost me at Howdy." -- We lost YOU at "stop drooling in a cup and pay attention". |

Wait, I finally figured out what 2cents meant by McBarbie. It's the Governor Barbie.
She comes with 5 kids, several rifles, has outfits for everything from running a state to hunting moose, plus she has plans for more pipelines, sold separately. Yes, and an updo and titanium rim glasses, and ahem, lipstick.
My girls would be allowed to play with that one. |
