New ads from Fred, running in Iowa and nationally:
There's also a 30-second version, here.
"Strength, Conviction, Honesty" is the tagline for the ad. Why different from his campaign's tagline, "Security, Unity, Prosperity?" I guess "conviction" and "honesty" are digs at Rudy and Romney, but what of "strength?" There's something to be said for brand consistency, and this tagline is so similar to the campaign's tag, it's a little confusing. Is this the second in a series of triplets for different issues (are there others I've missed?)? Maybe the three nouns will become a hook for him, tweaked to cover different topics when they come up.

And Mitt Romney is not the offically the social conservative alternative. Sorry, folks I'm not buying Mitt Romney! |

It sounds like "Strength, Conviction, Honesty" are meant to describe Fred, while "Security, Unity, Prosperity" are meant to describe what he wants to achieve. |

|
I guess it counts because teenage Fred's first wife didn't get an abortion when he got her pregnant during high school. |

|
There is nothing inspiring in this lazy old coon dog's methodology. |

This is a good add that will connect with Iowa Republicans. Fred Thompson comes across as Fred Thompson. He clearly annunciates his conservative credentials including pro-life.
Is is innovative? Not particularly, but can it be effective? I believe so. If he has the budget to run with this extensively in Iowa it will help him.

Refreshingly simple and positive and it puts government in its rightful place, under God.

from Fred - a few ads, because he is not willing to get out there on the trail and shake hands and meet people. He has a very laid-back schedule and cuts it short all the time. Can he run effectively against Hillary? Not to my mind. |

I'm not a "Fred Head", but this was good, short, and to the point. It's called "Hound Dog" selling, and it carried Lyndon Baines Johnson all the way to the VP.(Behind the scenes LBJ was blackmailing every living human being within 50 miles of Washington including J. Edger Hoover!)..But it's cornbread at it's finest on the surface. And compared to Romney, he is a hell of a conservative! |
