Tom Friedman's 9-12 Theory
Posted by: Matt Lewis at 9:28 AM
Thomas Friedman worries we've become the "United States of Fighting Terrorism."

... He's not that we shouldn't fight terrorism -- but he thinks we've let 9-11 define us:
Before 9/11, the world thought America’s slogan was: “Where anything is possible for anybody.” But that is not our global brand anymore. Our government has been exporting fear, not hope: “Give me your tired, your poor and your fingerprints.”

... Al Qaeda is about 9/11. We are about 9/12, we are about the Fourth of July — which is why I hope that anyone who runs on the 9/11 platform gets trounced.

Thoughts?

Your moronic comment is exactly what TF is talking about. What on earth does AQ's torture methods have anything to do with how WE conduct ourselves? You're a fool.

Constitutionalist is right!
"Give me liberty or give me death!", was real! True conservatives will never sacrifice liberty for safety............Besides, if a fat Mexican woman dragging a baby across the sothern border can get into America, "WHAT IN THE HELL DO YOU THINK CHERTOFF AND HIS IDIOTS HAVE DONE TO STOP A TRAINED TERRORIST?"..................THINK!
Constitutionalist writes: Monday, October, 01, 2007 4:44 PM
shhh...
big brother is watching. We should not question are great leaders. They know what's best for us.

Oh grow up people. It's the constitution stupid which gives us our freedoms, and to Bush it's just a god damn piece of paper. You people should be thrown in jail because you crap on what made this country great, The Constitution. Not the Bush family, not the Clinton family, not the Patriot Act, etc... it's the constitution! Freedom of speech, freedom to bare arms, etc., etc...

Tom Friedman is right. You people have let the fear control you. stand up for real conservative values, which throughout history have been to be anti-war. No more nation building while our own crumbles!!!

Friedman
Tom Friedman lost his way when his Mid-East Peace Plan, aka the Saudi Mid-East Peace Plan, was preempted by 9/11. He was never very consistent. Now he is both inconsistent and clueless. As Soccer Dad put it, he was once a decent reporter, but as a pundit, he is the embodiment of the Peter Principle. But he doesn't see himself as a mere pundit. No, he is a real policymaker. Definitely a Legend in his own mind.

His wish for the defeat of all 9/12 candidates should not worry anyone. The only voter he will influence is himself.
Frank in Phoenix writes: Monday, October, 01, 2007 3:09 PM
Tex MacRea responds best to Friedman ...
"9/11 made YOU stupid. You and your herd of stupids stampeded right over the rest of us and sold out our rights and liberties (not to mention killing a lot of uninvolved people) in your bedwetting panic. Therefore, admitting how stupid you were and are is not enough to wipe the blood from your hands."

Amen, and amen.

As far as Friedman's remarks go ... well, the dike is finally beginning to leak.

Terrorism doesn't scare me. What the United States of Godblessamerica is doing in the name of fighting terrorism ... now THAT scares me.

I wonder...
...how al Qaeda would treat Thomas Friedman if he were kidnapped by them. Even more interesting would be to see what Friedman would think would happen if he were kidnapped by al Qaeda.

I'm sooooooo glad
he's NOT making the BIG decisions in the REAL WORLD.

Ya, I got thoughts
But none suitable to print. This creep continues to trash America at every turn. It's a direct shot at Rudy. And the age-old adage as far as the "fingerprints" go: "Why worry if you have nothing to worry about"? What are you worried about Friedman?
