Prayers for the souls of those who died and for the comfort of their loved ones.
Praise for the courage of the passengers on United Flight 93.
Thanks to the first responders who immediately rushed to the Towers and the Pentagon, and to the tens of thousands from across the country who followed to help.
Thanks to the men and women of the United States military and their civilian counterparts who have fought so hard and sacrificed so much to prevent another such attack.

Darryl Worly, Toby Keith, Lee Greenwood, how can you not find yourself bawling all the way home? Watched a lot of the 911 coverage last night.. Couric's voice? Flat creepy monotone, I had to mute it. Then the history channel.. made my heart hurt ! The reporter Major Garrett.. reminded Brit Hume et al.. that President Bush's advise to us was a bit more more textured than " shop ".I appreciate that! Not all of us are pea brains . There is a person on this post.. KO's sister? Or RW's significant someone? Of messnbc's classy slasher and trasher commentary sewer gutter show? Pseudo educated socialists are dangerous, in my view.Sorta like Mr. Obama. The female on messnbc after KO, ? Think about turtlenecks.. too much decolletage..perhaps ??

I just don't get this blame game. Bush? Clinton?
How about "RADICAL ISLAMIC RADICALISM" The only ones who should be BLAMED are the ones that took credit for the attack. AL Qaeda!
The left does deserve blame after 09/11/01 for their systematic attack on our own government. The Patriot Bill, Civil Rights for Enemy Combatants, continually undermining our President every step of the way.
I still wonder if the American resolve of September 12th has waned. Have we built our military to the necessary level. NO! Remember the 1st Gulf war? We put 1/2 million troops into Saudi Arabia to kick Sadam out of Kuwait. Now 140,000 in Iraq & 30,000 in Afghanistan have our military stretched thin and that's relying on National Guard units. Are we killing more of the enemy than they are recruiting? No! Iran is close to getting the A-Bomb [6-12 months], Putin is on the rampage, the Taliban is rising from the dead. This my friends is a very dangerous world and the only light shining on the hill is the U.S.
I hope & pray that we get our act together soon enough so that our grand children are not fighting and dying in the same places as our young heroes are today. |

Obama finds it's very easy to be an armchair quarterback. 9/11 caused a $2trillion hit to our economy. Getting back to commerce and routines in life was what we needed. Obama wants forced volunteerism, don't you just love that oxymoran? |

K.G. You are so right. Funny how the libtards forget that their representatives in congress voted to allow Bush to implement the war. Now they act as if it was all Bush's doing. They voted yea to the war and now think the people are in lockstep with them in criticizing the effort. Obammy didn't vote for the war but was a mere flake minority and would have it that Saddam was still in tyrannical power. Good judgment? I think not!! |

I know what you would do...the same as the rest of us....
I haven't been on a plane since 9/11 that I haven't stood up just before takeoff and scanned the rest of the passengers, just so I knew where any potential trouble may be lurking. I also look around to see where the potential help may be.
I enjoy making extended eye contact with the passengers who "fit the profile," so that they know where the potential trouble may be lurking as well.....
I am quite sure I am not alone. |

saw the movie "United 93" over the weekend. Not that I didn't have the gumption to when it came out, we're just not inclined to spend 20 bucks on most of the crap that passes for entertainment lately. Anyway, wish we had for this one. A riveting, gut wrenching movie. After it's over with the last glimpse of the Shanksville countryside rushing at you, you sit there asking yourself, "What would I have done?" |

I for one will forever as my breath lasts be thankful that during a time of immense danger and trial we were led by a great President, George W. Bush. Nor no less will I be thankful for the men and women of our great and honorable military for taking the fight to the enemy. Nor no less deserving of our gratitude are the often unnoticed and unmentioned entrusted with our Homeland Security.
Too I will be forever proud of the heroes of Flight 93, and of those who acted just as surely, the first responders and regular citizens who did all within their power to save lives and administer to the suffering. Who many, even in their passion to save lives, gave up their own.
And sorrow. I will not forget the sorrow and the suffering that so many of our own experienced that day and even to this day still carry as enormous burdens.
On this day, at least this day, we are Americans saluting, paying tribute, honoring our own, for ours is a shared burden.
God Bless America! |

I was in Chile in the very early 60's, during Allende's first run for president. Communism was rampant throughout the campuses and barrios, just like liberalism is in the US today.
Graffiti, unheard of in America in the early 60's, marred nearly every wall and building, reading: Cuba si, yanquis no. Viva Che (Guevara) and Mao. Death to the Yanqui pig (JFK)in Washington, which sadly came to pass while I was there.
Libs today lie when they imply that world-wide anti-american sentiment is something new with GWB. It was way worse during the Cold War--under Dem presidents, BTW. Libs lie when they imply it was GWB's fault we were attacked.
He was only in office a brief period before the attacks.
Islam's been on the march, off and on, since 600 AD. Libs lie when they imply that with a President Obama the world will finally love us.
They lie to themselves if they dispute the fact that there will always be forces fighting against freedom. And who inspires those forces?
The Father of All Lies--he who would deny us our God-given freedoms and have us in chains. Say what you want about McCain: He gets it.
Obama? Not so much. |

restaurant one evening for a party in 1997, several years after the first attack and several years before the final attack. I worked on a movie that was released that year, and my company rented out the entire restaurant, and flew us to New York to celebrate.
I remember feeling worried that a terrorist would try to blow up the buildings when I was in them.
I remember trying to make myself walk close to those floor-to-ceiling windows, and barely being able to look out because the ground was so far away.
Then I think about the multitude of people that jumped from those windows, and realized how terrible it must have been inside those buildings that they could bear to leap from that great height. |

who reminded us that the victims of 9/11 are no longer able to vote for themselves.
Anyone who is still standing on the fence about the McCain Palin ticket, don't vote for yourself in November: vote for the victims of 9/11.
Vote for the people who were incinerated sitting at their office desks, the ones who jumped from an unbelievable height because that was a more merciful death, the brave Firemen and Policemen who ran toward the twin towering enfernos while everyone else ran away and never came back.
These are people who no longer have a voice about the president that will confront the twisted, evil philosophy that believed that the slaughter of innocents was the will of Allah.
Do we really want to face them led by Tweedledum and Tweedledee?
Or do we want the War Hero and the Pittbull to confront them? |

We have all seen the sci-fi movies of time travel, where one incremental change of events profoundly and drastically changed the future. In all of these depictions, there is one who is charged with the awesome responsibility to insure that all events remain constant. Detaining a single event could have gravely prevented the cure for Polio. If Michael King had not met Alberta Williams, would a son not declare, “I have a Dream!” Now, what of the events that took place September 11, 2001. Obviously multitudes were adversely affected. Attitudes were altered for all time. But what possibilities were stifled? What casualty, or offspring thereof, would develop the cure for Cancer or Aids. What of the daughter of a son who would develop a free and boundless source of energy. Has the innovative agricultural technique that could feed multitudes have been impeded for generations. sgtblogger.com |

to poor Kristianne. She's got some learnin' to do. . . And thanks Seahawk for the link to that very touching Aussie letter about our military.
I lived in Asia for 7 years. While comments about Americans were not always the best, one thing was clear - they were really quite envious of the American spirit and joie de vivre (okay, don't know if I spelled that right but am sure I'll get corrected). I remember sitting on a ferry, going from my island home to downtown Hong Kong for my job. As we were coming in, an American carrier was coming out of the bay. I will never EVER forget the immense pride I felt when that carrier went past us, with all the sailors in their whites, standing with their hands behind their backs, encircling the deck of the ship, with the Flag flying high. I stood up out of my seat to go stand at the side and watch them as they went past. Never had I been more proud to be an American. While none of the people on the ferry stood up, every single one of them - Chinese and European - had their eyes on those men. Call me a sucker, but I knew that greatness was going by. |

Actually, I'm a registered Libertarian who's voting for Barr. I'd vote for McCain before I'd vote for Obama, though both are weak and will do nothing but expand the central govt. But knock yourself out. Let me bottom-line it for you: The worst terrorist attack in U.S. history happened on Bush's watch. That's a failure not achieved by any other president in history.
Also, I'm assuming you hold Nixon responsible for allowing all the domestic terrorism that plagued us during the early 1970s? You know, Cuban exiles and Black Liberation Army and all that? That's on Nixon, I suppose.
And Obama's half-white ... so what? Is that a problem for you? |

. . . and still not one of our leaders has the intellectual integrity -- or the guts -- to tell the truth about why the attacks occurred.
The war will be long because of our decency, but it will be made exponentially more costly in American blood and treasure because our leaders refuse to recognize and expose the enemy:
"the Messenger of Allah . . . would say: 'Fight in the name of Allah and in the way of Allah. Fight against those who disbelieve in Allah. Make a holy war. . . . When you meet your enemies who are polytheists, invite them to three courses of action. . . . Invite them to (accept) Islam . . . If they refuse to accept Islam, demand from them the Jizya . . . If they refuse to pay the tax, seek Allah's help and fight them . . .'" (Muslim Book 19, Number 4294).
"fight and slay the Pagans wherever ye find them, and seize them, beleaguer them, and lie in wait for them in every stratagem (of war) . . . " (Qur’an 9:5).
"Fight those who believe not in Allah nor the Last Day . . . nor acknowledge the religion of Truth, (even if they are) of the People of the Book, until they pay the Jizya with willing submission, and feel themselves subdued" (Qur'an 9:29).
"Allah's Apostle said: 'I have been ordered (by Allah) to fight against the people until they testify that none has the right to be worshipped but Allah and that Muhammad is Allah's Apostle . . . '" (Bukhari Volume 1, Book 2, Number 24).
"It is not for any prophet to have captives until he hath made slaughter in the land . . . " (Qur'an 8:67).
“Allah’s Apostle said, ‘I have been made victorious with terror . . . ’” (Bukhari Volume 4, Book 52, Number 220). |
|
. . . and still not one of our leaders has the intellectual integrity -- or the guts -- to tell the truth about why the attacks occurred.
President Bush was right to remove the Taliban and Saddam and to secure his WMD. Since that time, thousands of American lives and billions of American dollars have been wasted hoping to win the hearts and minds of people already enslaved to Allah.
If the President -- or Hugh -- or anyone else in a position to influence policy and opinion knew anything about Islam, they would know that Allah demands -- and Muslims expect -- Infidel tribute.
And we keep giving it to them.
Additionally, we have now two new states with Shari'a enshrined in their constitutions, the establishing of an Islamic state in the heart of Europe, demands that Israel cripple its own defense against the same enemy, and the spread of Islamic law and agents throughout our own institutions, including the highest levels of government, aided by practically-unrestricted Muslim immigration, the craven, America-hating Left, and the gullible, ignorant Right.

The "Day the Towers Fell" on The History Channel today. After getting the kids off to school,I was on the phone with my friend and had the t.v. on in the background, I turned and saw the smoke coming from the #1 Tower and said to my friend "Oh Lord, no!" Nothing has been the same since that moment. "Thank you, President Bush for your courage and steadfastness, to fight the enemy in a place of our choosing. You took it to them and have defeated them on one battleground. Like the Civil War and WW2 there will be many other places of battle. May God grant us another leader as strong and determinded as you have been to carry on." |

"W"'s beaten you guys every way but Sunday, and it just grates on you leftists, don't it. It was your boy, BJ, who dropped the ball repeatedly, and did nothing to combat terrorism, but indict, in some police action, nonsense. He was too busy being served by an underage girl in the White House to be bothered with terrorism. The plan was hatched during his watch, "Nicky nack", and during "W"'s watch we have not been attacked, since, not once. GWB 7 jihadist 0. Your side did everything possible to keep victory from happening, but again you leftists lost that one too, didn't cha'. Now, you've put all your stock, in a metro-sexual, wimp, unqualified half white leftist called obambi, and now, hows that looking, "Nicky nack". |

who feel compelled to be partisan in this thread. |

|
Now that was some good readin', son....! |
|
day to be partisan - both administrations made mistakes - look up Rick Rescorla - he predicted the attack after the first WTC bombing - he was prepared - all but 6 of the 2800 employees he was assigned to organize security for got out of the building - 4 of the six (including Rick) were part of the security organization - he was making one last sweep when the tower collapsed. Let's focus on these brave first responders that died so others could live. Lets honor the brave passengers on United 93.
The only blame that should be passed out today is on the perpetrators - they are the ones we should focus our hatred on

Back in the 1998-1999 time frame, Bill Clinton had at least two opportunities to have Osama bin Laden assisinated, once in the Sudan and once in Afghanistan. He didn't do it because Janet Reno, then US AG, said that would be "illegal." Thanks to Clinton, bin Laden lived to plan and have executed the attacks on 9/11/2001. There were four other attacks on US people which Clinton didn't respond to. |

has stood up to and faced down all this country's enemies over the last 7 years. No attacks, none, that's right, no attacks, you hear that, you leftists. GWB 7, jihadists 0; over that same time "W" defeated you leftists every single, solitary time, when you tried to pass, defeatist legislation. GWB 5,850,777 leftists 0. Harry Pelosi, proudly announced, "We have lost", no Mr. Pelosi, we did not lose, we won, we defeated muslim scum in Iraq, but more importantly, we defeated leftists scum, like you, right here in this country. You leftists, so fond of always telling us that "W" was just some dumb cowboy from Texas. Yet, he kicked your A..........S............S, so often that his cowboy boot is so far up your A......... S............S, you no longer can swallow, without tasting leather. If he's dumb, what in the heck does that make you. He beat you riff raff, every single time and it has just driven you to derangement. Just listen to that ex-sportcaster, nightly for confirmation of this. You never beat him, no not once!!! HAHAHAHAHA!!! Oh, consider this post, a face washing, that is "W" doin' the face washing. LOSERS.... |

I have a music blog and posted a tribute to the fallen of 9/11. The anti america hate comments were terribly sad. Instead of honoring the victims of that day, they revert to how many civilians are dead in Iraq, etc. etc. Breaks my heart.
Thanks for your light Hugh.

"Suggestions?"
When it comes to "poverty, ignorance, helplessness and despair," I would suggest the Obamaians draw upon their own campaign experience the past week or so. |
|
might be today?
In 2001: According to Barack Obama, the madness that drove terrorists to turn passenger jets into manned cruise missiles aimed at our centers of finance, government and military power "grows out of a climate of poverty and ignorance, helplessness and despair."
Possibly Obama can draw upon his experience as a community organizer (having worked first hand with "poverty, ignorance, helplessness and despair") to expand his definition of madness .....
Suggestions?

remember who our enemies are. Most certainly, Islam, some say radical Islam, but my recollection of that day was muslims dancing, by the thousands, in the streets of the Mideast. But as great an enemy, as these jihadists pose to our liberty, it pales in comparison, to our enemy within, that is the leftist party, the democrat party. This country has remained attack free, since 9/11. No thanks, to leftists, who have fought tooth and nail, every measure that would keep us safe. They even screamed bloody murder, that the enemy, an enemy eager to kill Americans, had the same rights as the citizens, they longed to kill. These leftists pose the greatest threat to this country's liberty, in it's history. They hate, liberty, and our rugged individualism, and our sovereignty. They are repulsed by our Founding Father's, their Christianity, and their founding principals. For the last 45 years they have attempted to destroy, their legacy, casting them as bigots and miscreants. Yet they bristle at the notion that they are unpatriotic, claiming their patriotism is "true" patriotism because it is not outwardly, shown or expressed. The doubter must simply believe that they are "patriotic".
If you doubt that these leftists, pose that threat, all you need do is read the post by "Kristianne" at 2:09pm. She, perfectly encapsulates the leftist mind set and the absolute hatred they have for this country. She speaks in glowing terms about the head purveyor of this hatred, an ex-sportscaster, who confirms nightly that he is totally consumed with hatred for this country, and specifically the President of the United States.
We cannot find common ground with these people, they, simply, MUST be defeated, totally. |
|
need to take a moment and read the words he spoke 8 days after the tragedy. A recent article about his speech in Hyde Park is on my TH blog ....
Re-hashing the actions/inactions of Bush or Clinton is nothing but a smoke screen to cloud the ineptitude and blathering of Barry Soetoro - Barack Obama.
Reminder to the hairballs who keep posting talking-point links no one reads: Bush and Clinton are not running again. Obama is and shouldn't be. |
|
Your own factcheck -
Clinton: So we tried to be quite aggressive with them [al Qaeda]. We got – well, Mr. bin Laden used to live in Sudan. He was expelled from Saudi Arabia in 1991, then he went to Sudan. And we'd been hearing that the Sudanese wanted America to start dealing with them again. They released him. At the time, 1996, he had committed no crime against America, so I did not bring him here because we had no basis on which to hold him, though we knew he wanted to commit crimes against America. So I pleaded with the Saudis to take him, 'cause they could have. But they thought it was a hot potato and they didn't and that's how he wound up in Afghanistan.
I guess this was another "was for something before he was against it"
Also - Qatar offered bin Laden to Clinton and he refused! |
|
|
Go listen to Clinton's speech where he himself admitted the Sudanese wanted to hand him over to the US but Clinton didnt believe there was any legal authority to do so. He is on record as saying it was the biggest regret of his 8 years. Having said that, I don't blame Clinton for 9/11--and you shouldn't blame Bush. Our enemies declared war on us in the 90's and struck at us in a big way on 9/11. Half the nation understands the continual threat we live in from those that wish to kill us. A pity that you, like the rest of your left-wing comrades, pour out more hatred against those that fight evil rather than the jihadists who commit it. |
|
according to Factcheck.org - the site McCain famously cites wrongly as proof against one of his Obama lies (http://www.factcheck.org/elections-2008/mccain-palin_distorts_our_finding.html) - your claim against Clinton being offered bin Laden by the Sudan seems to be debunked. Long debunked in fact. Perhaps you should factcheck your accusations a bit more thoroughly - or does that go against your state of perpetual denial?

WE DID HAVE THAT LEADERSHIP WITH CLINTON. He did try to go after these guys - remember "wagging the dog"? Cllinton was derided continuously for seeking retribution for terrorism BECAUSE of the rightwing attack dog, Ken Starr claiming he was trying to "change the subject" away from Lewinsky, you fools. In the late nineties, our focus was solely on Clinton's jewels and nothing else - and you know it. He was not allowed to lead in a manner befitting a President without that hypocrite adulterer, Gingrich getting selectively "offended" about extra-marital affairs.
Clinton warned Bush. Clarke warned Condi. YOUR clowns dropped the ball, and now you want to "honor" the victims by casting YOURSELVES as victims of the truth. You guys are TOO MUCH. Get over yourselves, whiny conservatives. |
|
If you've watched O'Reilly, Hannity or listened to Limbaugh or Levin, then your idea of "spewing hatred" is skewed concerning Olbermann. There is a difference between justified anger at a Party that was in power on the day of the attacks has cast the 9/11 attacks as somehow instead a failing of the Dems, and then having the temerity to run Republican campaigns on the myth of making us "safer".
Olbermann speaks truth to power in a manner that the rest of us can't. YOU just don't want to hear the truth about your Party and it's leadership that has failed this country so miserably. For you, apparently, it is less about dealing with the facts and more about victimhood - your own. WIth you and your apologists, you forget the 3000 souls who lost their lives while Bush read a kid's book - a man who at that moment KNEW that the warnings he had brushed off all summer were indeed coming to fruition.
More and more Americans are coming to appreciate the truth behind Olbermann's powerful words. He trumps the petty mewlings of the FNC and EIB clowns who will keep the rest of the indoctrinated tied down to the slavery of their own pathetic self-pity. |
|
|
The Keith O hatred over 9/11 was outrageous. I hope all posters heard the first 15 minutes of Rush today in which he reminded the listeners how, what, the liberal Dems ranted about just days after the 2001 attack. All posters, even the lefties, should remember just how reviling those comments were blaming the USA, ala Wright, and Bush, and Israel for 9/11. The Dem left hatred did convince voters that Pubs in 2006 should not be in power. Yet, those comments still come into play. The Left still blames the USA and their hate wants voters to put even more liberal Dems in power in 2008. I pray that never happens. |

All those who died or were injured, as well as the first responders who, without thought of themselves, saved so many. I have a magnet on the back of my car that says 9/11 NEVER FORGET.
(btw, Kristianal, sounds very familiar.) |

My daughter was on a plane headed back to LA. from Vancouver..my heart froze.Hours later.. phone rings.. " Hi Mommy , Whats going on ? We had to return to the airport.. " To this day I do not erase messages until I hear the words .. home safe ! Is ko. on missnbc. having a psychotic break? |

I agree with you 100%. Unlike Bill Clinton, George W. Bush kept his promises and went after terrorists. Had someone said on 9/12 there will not be another terrorist attack in the USA for the next seven years I would have laughed. George W. Bush has kept us safe and should be saluted for a job well done! |
|
I'm dismayed over such negative comments re: GW Bush.
In my view he is a hero. He has been willing to sacrifice his popularity, his footnotes in history, even the angst of his own political party--to pursue a strategy to: fight Al Qaida off-shore; improve our internal security/response apparatus; and commit funds for the above.
He has been under attack from naysayers within his own administration--yet he has held the course to protect the U.S. and prevent anything like 9-11 from occuring on his watch as Commander-In-Chief.
Which of the current candidates have the character and resolve to do that? |
|
...school marm, but I believe that in Kristianne's case, she should properly be called "puerca."
Otherwise you are 100% correct. You get an A+. |

Imagine if Bill Clinton accepted the offer when both Sudan and Qatar offered Osama bin Laden to him on a silver platter. |
|
...if you had a brain and a knowledge of things as they really were--are--and perhaps can be in the Middle East.
Imagine you listening to Maggie Thatcher: A desire for freedom comes from God and resides in the heart of every human being. (Paraphrased)
Imagine you reading the Declaration: We believe ALL men (not just Americans) are endowed by their Creator with certain inalienable rights, and among these are life, LIBERTY, and the pursuit of happiness.
Seven years later both Afghanistan and Iraq enjoy constitutional governments and are the most free Islamic nations.
Before you start screaming about ineptitude and lives sacrificed, take a few quiet moments...and just imagine. |
|
A prayer for those who lost loved ones on 9/11.
A prayer for wisdom on behalf of President Bush and members of Congress, and our military leaders.
A prayer for wisdom for the two men vying to be our next President: Senator John McCain and Senator Barack Obama.
A prayer that further efforts by terrorists to kill and destroy would be thwarted.
A prayer for the peoples of Afghanistan and Iraq, that they may become secure, prosperous and free. |

Barbara Olsen's spit. God Bless Barabara, Ted and all who died and grieved. God Bless America.
*K.--May you receive absolutely everything you so richly deserve. Puerco.

I had a last l straw moment this morning with NBC. While all the other networks were honoring the 8:46 AM special 9/11 moment, including PSNBC , NBC was running a cooking segment on desserts. What the hell are they thinking? 5 minutes later, I switched to the Today Show and they were still running the segment.
On 9/11, for a brief time, there were no political parties, we were all Americans in disbelief and in horror. NBC should be sold by GE or GE should accept more responsibility for their actions. How un-American can a network be than to turn its back on the worst attack on America since Pearl Harbor? I am sure they will run hours of 9/11 programming today, however, most Americans including myself were thinking back to the time and place we were standing at that 8:46 AM timeframe. Honoring in our minds the thousands of innocent people about to die as the plane crashed into the World Trade Center. Does NBC not have a soul or at least a conscious? Are they so dedicated to electing Obama that they were concerned reflecting on 9/11 might hurt him in the polls?
Today, I realized where the pig is in this year’s election. It is at NBC and GE should be ashamed and take immediate action to divorce itself from this out of control subsidiary. This pig has taken on an animal farm mentality and dares to influence our citizens with their predetermined, biased position. How does an American icon of industry run amuck? Where are the stockholders and board of directors during this Titanic voyage for a once great broadcasting company? I don’t blame Jay Leno for leaving, who could blame him? The best material he can obtain comes from the company that writes his checks. Hooray for cable and choice, at least the American people do not have to be force fed this junk without alternatives.
Even lipstick cannot help this pig!!

Not to be partisan, but where is Osama????? Obama or McCain need to answer that question first. |

that took heed of the hair-on-fire warnings about al Qaeda threatening to strike the US in the August PDB.
Imagine that, after failing to keep us safe from the attacks of 9/11, which was indeed possible with all the FBI activity and warnings going out that summer previous to the attacks, we had a leadership that did indeed smoke out bin Laden and the perps of 9/11. Rather than going into a country not tied to the attacks at all (and knowing full well when war was waged that they didn't).
Imagine the lives he could have saved, and the lives that are now lost because of Republican leadership ineptitude.
Imagine... |

May we all seek His forgiveness for our sins and pray that He heals our land.
May 2008 be the year when America was reborn... |

Over at nancysinsights.com, politics is not going to be discussed today and I'm proud that Hugh and other conservative blogs are taking the same course. The fact of the matter is, we all love this country and we would all be devastated if something happened like this again. In politics, I enjoy debating liberals on this blog and others, but I would put my life up for any one of them, yes even Keith Olberman. I hope we can have some perspective today and everyone just takes today to reflect. |

Dear American Sweetheart:
Truer words were never spoken! Every time one of these “supposed” entertainers “Madonna, Olberdork, Damon, and Russell Brand speak badly of President Bush or Dick Cheney or other honorable people in our country I see the more open minded democrats being soured by such blatant stupidity and an overt attempt to use their celebrity to influence the election.

The world has been at war with Islamic terrorism for far longer than the 7 years that have elapsed since 9/11. Though that terrible day punctuated the seriousness of the conflict it was by no means its beginning. The 8 years of Democratic leadership that preceded 9/11 failed to grasp the deadly intent of the enemy and left this country vulnerable to infiltration and attack. These same Democrats foolishly lament governmental actions taken since 9/11 which tightened American security and have succeeded in stopping another such event on our soil.
This anniversary of 9/11 brings the country to the threshold of another presidential election. We have an emboldened Russia reemerging. We have an untrustworthy North Korea already with nuclear weaponry. We have a fanatically anti-semitic Iran anxious to destroy Israel. We have a stubborn Israel standing hard on a Palestinian ghetto. Where would the world be today had Saddam and his money been left alone to pursue his deadly and perverse dreams?
The lives lost 7 years ago stand as grim reminders of a listless Hollywood White House. Remember each of them all over these next crucial months and as you vote in November. This country of heroes must have heroes at the helm so that citizens will never again pay such a terrible price. |

Thank you for all the previous comments to set the tone for this day to reflect and to recommit to preserving American and global freedom.
Thank you Rudy and thank you Pres. George for your public leadership of strength and compassion.
Thank you firefighters and police for you were the heart and hands of America as the rest of us watched, horrified as the images of panic and pain unrolled on our televisions.
I will never forget the unfolding events of one plane crash after another, events I never imagined would or could happen on our soil.
So our national wake-up call continues as we listen to two very different presidential candiates. I pray we choose wisdom and character.
May God continue to bless America. May we be deserving of such blessings. |

The fact that the rest of the world is encouraging us to vote for Obama is reason enough for me NOT to vote for him...especially the Middle Eastern nations that are all for him! |

It was my freshman year of college and I was at a satellite campus of the University of Pittsburgh out pretty much in the middle of nowhere...The planes hit while I was in my algebra class. It was my only class that day until 1. So I went back from class to my dorm to get a few more hours sleep before lunch and Bio lab.
By 11:00 people were pounding on my roommate and I's door screaming for us to wake up and turn on the news.
One of the planes crashed just a few miles down the road is the neighboring town on Shanksville...hard to swallow on top of the fact that I was just learning of the other chaos and buildings hit all at the same time.
I never made it to Bio Lab. Classes were suspended and the town was on lockdown. I couldn't even leave campus to drive anywhere. Even home.
I made friends that day in our moment of fear that I otherwise never would have met. Kids walked into town to the local Army and Marine recruiters and were gone the next semester in basic training. They knew war was coming and they wanted in on it. Other kids found ways to sneak out and join the volunteer firefighters in Shanksville in a recovery effort that simply didn't exist.
To everyone I met that day and to everyone whom gave their lives, their time, and compassion that day...Thank you. And to the families and the departed you're always in my thoughts. |

at my house...4 Flags, 4 moments of silence. And for me a seven mile walk with those flags. Click my name, read the blog. Never forget! |

I was born, raised and currently live in NYC. I will never forget that day. People at work calling their brother one last time, friends and family hoping and praying their loved survived. Walking home that day was America at its best. Restaurants were giving away free food and drinks. Shoe store gave away free shoes to people. There were lines at hospitals for people volunteering to give blood.
I hope people remember and keep in their prayers the victims of that day. I knew several people who died that day; in particular two close family friends who were 24 and just starting their carriers. A day does not pass that I do not think of them.

In it the author movingly writes of the final moments of the life of 32-year old Melissa Doi, who perished in the World Trade Center, and the dispatcher who stayed on the line with her:
The operator tried to calm her down, but a few minutes later, Doi panicked: ‘I’m gong to die, aren’t I?’ she asked. ‘No no no,’ the operator replied. ‘I’m going to die,’ Doi repeated. ‘Say your prayers,’ the operator advised. ‘Oh God, it’s so hot. I’m burning up,’ Doi replied. Several minutes later, the line on her end went silent. And here’s the thing, really, in a way — one of the very few things we have to hold onto: the operator continued to speak to her for another 20 minutes, ’soothingly, according to the Los Angeles Times article, ‘repeating Doi’s name over and over, calling her ‘dear.’

Sadness because many innocents were lost that day. Hopefulness because many showed how truly noble humanity can be. May God bless them all. May we be better human beings because of their loss and service. |

We are all Americans.
Let's set aside our differences today, and remember the Americans we lost on 9/11. I remember that day well. I'm sure you do too.
As much as we care about politics, today isn't a day to politicize.
God bless you all. I hope we all have a good day, and a good life.

In addition to the Victims, their families I pray that the World will wake up to the reality of Jihad and for Muslims that they will stop this insanity... On the 7th anniversary of 911 and the Murder of 2,974, 24 missing (not including the 19 hijackers) with Injured over 6,291 Americans by blood thirsty Islamic Jihadists a survey reveals that citizens of the World belive that Al Qaeda was not responsible for 911!http://tinyurl.com/5s42m4
No wonder 0bama would win if the World voted for the next American President... see this article, It's Official: The World Wants Obama http://www.heraldonline.com/115/story/808080.html
Even Wikipedia states the perpetrators were members of al Qaeda!
I believe in the USA and the American Citizen and Soldier Heroes rmembered today...We the "Men & Women of the West" will Prevail no matter how ruthless and cunning the Islamo-Jihadist Assassins are! Why? Because we are the Americans imbued by the spirit and ideals of our Forefathers and although reluctant to fight we are FIGHTERS and when forced we are the Men and Women of the motto "Semper Fi"!

From a Lileks column in 2003: http://www.lileks.com/bleats/archive/03/0903/091103.html
" ... I’ve no doubt that if Seattle or Boston or Manhattan goes up in a bright white flash there will be those who blame it all on Bush. We squandered the world’s good will. We threw away the opportunity to atone, and lashed out. Really? You want to see lashing out? Imagine Kabul and Mecca and Baghdad and Tehran on 9/14 crowned with mushroom clouds: that’s lashing out. Imagine the President in the National Cathedral castigating Islam instead of sitting next to an Imam who's giving a homily. Mosques burned, oil fields occupied, smart bombs slamming into Syrian palaces. We could have gone full Roman on anyone we wanted, but we didn’t. And we won’t. "
"Which is why this war will be long."

I watched Keith Olberman's "Special Commentary" last night.
OMG!
I have never seen such sustained, focused hatred spewed from a paid television personality.
The poor guy is going to have a heart attack. |

nameless ones to thank on this day. I start with God, the PA flight 93, the president, the first responders, our soldiers, their families...so many who have kept a vigil watch over us all. Even and perhaps especially the unnamed faces who saw something not quite right and reported it; those who stand in long lines at airports and willingly take off their shoes and remember. There will be a prayer in my heart all day although every day there is prayer for a whole list it would take too long to type. Thank you is all I can muster to say before the tears come. |
