All Hail Obama!
Posted by: Hugh Hewitt at 5:24 PM
Where will Bill Ayers, Benadine Dohrn, Tony Rezko and Jeremiah Wright be sitting?

The the UK's Daily Mail reports:

Barack Obama's big speech on tomorrow night will be delivered from an elaborate columned platform resembling a miniature Greek temple, it has been revealed.

The stage is similar to structures used for rock concerts and has been set up at the 50-yard-line, the midpoint of Invesco Field, the stadium where the Denver Broncos'  American football team plays.

Barack's Great Society!
Change, Change, Change,
America.
Sounds wonderful, who will pay for it?
By the way,
The expenditure just for tonight, if spent by the GOP, would have been scorned, for sure!
Done by liberals is being praised!
Wow, nice fireworks!
Have it the Obama way!

Obama famous phrase, "I am my sister's keeper", forget the brother living in the hut; that is the government's failure not providing him a Rezko deal.

winesnob,
Coronation, has already started in Denver!
Barack Apollo Obama's glorious ascending, trascending, suspended ever so graciously, one arm outstreched, anointed in oil, clothed in white robe, floating, rising to the heavens!
Tonight divine celebrations resumes, all exuberation, euphoria, will end in November 08, quite in a sudden downfall.
It is in the stars, such hights, doomed to a tragic wreck!
Toasting the winner! till then, skoal!
Sorry Obama prefers; a votre sonte!

Wine cellar
Stella- thanks for the suggestions. I've got Screaming Eagle, Harlan, Gemstone, Bressler, Scarecrow, Hourglass,Lafitte, Latour,Margaux,Haut Brion, Mouton and a few other goodies. Fortunately, I started buying wine back in the 70's when it was still affordable. First growths were $15-$20 per bottle and you could buy cases of Petrus at $201 on futures. I've got enough in the cellar to last the rest of my life. I'll save the Dom and Cristal to toast Obama after the coronation in January. Come on by for a glass of bubbly!

Their own hand gesture (Obama's being a large "O" which I think stand for a big ZERO), their own flag symbol, going after the disgruntled & only focusing on the downtrodden as their base, campaign based on hatred, scapegoating the successful, the crowd chanting his name swaying in a foggy haze,& now a Romanesque stage...I could go on! Winesnob - have a drink, a tall one!
Please read this because it is prophetic and suitable for your candidate. The americans who get impressed by candidates who rebuild stadiums, don't decide elections. Rational, hardworking americans who understand that every penny counts in our economy see this as a waste of resources for a man who until 3 years ago, was a community organizer voting to kill infants who survive abortion past the 23rd week. Americans won't be committing obamacide. I suggest you stock up on some good wine because you'll need it after McCain gets inaugurated - that will become your HOPE.

The Barakapolis NOT Barak is the story
I knew Barack had issues with our infrastructure. Especially after he said China had better infrastructure than the USA. But the rebuilding of the broncos stadium is just insulting to we the colorado people. We aks our leaders to respect our space and not rebuild it for a 1 hour speech whenever possible! What infrastructure problems was Barack talking about, the Barakapolis is STANDING STRONG and it has cost us $$$$ for a ONE HOUR speech. I think his 6th sense realizes,he won't have the whitehouse lawn so he is creating something majestic to remember his affirmative action moment.

Thanks for the recommendations. I know Casanova but not Oreno, I'll look for it. Nothing better with Italian food than their wine. My tip to you- Tangent from Edna Valley. Excellent whites (no Chard) such as Viognier, Riesling and Albarino at fair prices, great summer drinking. We always need to keep this stuff in perspective. You had 8 years of Clinton, we've almost made it through the Bush years and we'll survive whatever happens this year. Good wine, family and friends makes it all bearable.

Reagan and Arnold have/had legitimate reasons to be celebrities. They were both movie stars. Arnold more so. Reagan was involved with politics for years and years, plus traveling for GE and having a radio commentary before he became POTUS. With Arnold you have more of a case about saying he's just a celebrity. With Reagan you can't say that. Also, the enthusiasm is not showing up in the polls, at least not so far. Plus, 50 thousand people in Oregon is still just 7 electoral votes. You also have to factor in the percentage of people who go to: be part of something they think is historic, the underage who can't even vote, people who go there to score babes, and those who are excited now but won't vote.

I think the main point is that Obama is just giving more ammo to the charge that he is thinks too highly of himself.

By the way, if you haven't already, you need to try Oreno and Cassanova Di Neri.

Everyone should remember: If something is LOOSE you may LOSE it.

Tailspin?
No recession as officially defined.Nor will there be. Foreclosures @ 4%...Banks have failed before and most are doing ok, thank you very much.

Al Qaeda is reeling NOT flourishing. Remember all those dead Al Qaeda in Iraq?

Gas is @ $4. a gallon because dems for the last 30 years have blocked every effort at developing ANY of our oil resources.

The 'stage' is evidence of just how tone-deaf your candidate is and McCain's going to win in an electoral landslide.

Obama is TOAST. He's done and its over, you're just too blind to see it yet.

I love the title someone gave the conceited slob. FOX news is beginning to talk about the comments they're getting from people making fun of Obama's play of granduer at his Colliseum, formerly known as Enesco Field. Where does his ego end? Oh, I see, it doesn't! So just who the hell does this buffoon think he is? I hope he gets his head handed to him on a silver platter by John Mc Cain and company in November.

If LA had only known. They could have offered Barry not only a real, full-sized Colosseum, er, Coliseum, but an appropriately dressed university band to play "Tribute to Boy", er, "Troy". (The Trojan Fan's version, Hugh and Duane, not yours. Heh.)
sheryl writes: Wednesday, August, 27, 2008 6:01 PM
Hugh I know you weren't a fan
of the Olympics (for very good reasons). tough many Americans still watched.

With all the hilarity coming about his stage: Jonah Goldberg referencing Spinal Tap’s pageantry and ode to Stonehenge, on a blog at Townhall coined the term “My Big Fat Greek Convention”, Powerline says they’re hearing the chant “toga, toga, toga” and McCain’s camp saying “Is this from The Onion?” upon seeing the stage.

I wonder if it ever occurred to the Obama campaign that their majestic, magical staging would come across as rather paltry or rinky dink when many Americans just witnessed one of the most spectacular stadium events in Beijing. You gotta think someone, somewhere asked “Should we re-think having him speak in a stadium?”

Perhaps no one will compare the stadium spectacles but I’m not sure it was such a good idea to look dwarfed in a stadium spectacle to the Chinese if you want to lead the most powerful nation in the world.

winesnob writes: Wednesday, August, 27, 2008 5:49 PM
Obama
You righties just don't get it. Obama excites people who are sick of Bush and want a change. The fact he can fill a stadium is a reflection of the passion of the Dems this year, as evidenced by the huge number of new voters and amount of money Obama has received from numerous voters. You never complained about celebrities when they ran on your side (Reagan and Schwarzenegger), and you never discuss the number of movies and TV shows McCain has done. If anyone has tried to have an imperial presidency, it's been Bush. I challenge McCain to give a speech in a large stadium and fill it with excited and energetic supporters. Can't wait for November.

Triumph of the Barry
Oh lovely, Neo-classical Greco Revival. Where’s Leni Riefenstahl when the klieg lights come on?

This pretentious over staging, when they could have used the Pepsi Centers acoustics to their advantage shows how second string the Obama candidacy is.

This convention is as poorly fleshed up and received as the choice of Sen. Obama. It's as if they all realize on dress rehearsal night that they cast the lead badly, the script need dramaturgy and the direction is ham-handed.

The closing act, going to the stadium will leave all concerned with the bitter taste of the spectacle that didn't meet the needs of the hour. Is anyone awake at Sen. Obama's team? Creating dynamism is easier in controlled and roofed venues than open air shout-athons. The candidate and his team are second stringers.

No ushers required save for House of Usher.

Who the heck cares. If reports are right and McCain is the puppet of the Huckabee people then he doesn't deserve to win anything. And Obama can have his place at the table. The country can't get any worse than to have the Republican President's chain yanked by the likes of Mike Huckabee.

The stage is supposedly the Lincoln Mem.
It is the aniversary of the I Have A Dream Speech. August 28, 1963. Now that is an important date, and obviously a major party candidate whose father was Kenyan is a powerful thing, but is it presumptuous for Obama to be the embodiment of that dream?

Even Andrew Sullivan things the stage is OTT. http://andrewsullivan.theatlantic.com/the_daily_dish/2008/ 08/pillars-ctd.html

Democratic Suicide?
Suicide of the Democrats

The defence is in ruins, the 'keeper has died and, miraculously, the striker is on side and facing an open goal. That, roughly, was the position of the Democratic Party at the start of the American election campaign. Bush was less popular than cancer, Cheney was out-sinistering The Joker and the economy had gone weird. But then, in the great tradition of the Donkey party, the Democrats proceeded to shoot themselves in both feet prior to stepping on a rake. Denver is a debacle with hordes of mad, Hillary-briefed women stealing the coverage while McCain creeps ahead in the polls. Hillary said as little as she could get away with and God knows what Bill will say - he'll probably take credit for motherhood, the McFlurry and Michael Phelps. Post-primary Obama is over-cautious. Standing before that open goal, he's lining up his shot like Tiger planning a putt. He is, I would guess, within a few days of losing the election.
