Sweetening a Poisoned Pill
Posted by: Carol Platt Liebau at 5:23 PM
Over at US News & World Report, Peter Roff points out an overlooked  but significant part of the Democrat "cap and trade" (cap and tax) bill

If the new cap and trade regime is going to bring "jobs, jobs, jobs" as Nancy Pelosi has promised, and if it's really -- as the President described it -- a "jobs bill," then why does it include such generous and extensive provisions for the newly-unemployed?

Fair question.

Hey even gods make mistakes...just check out what happened to Pharoah when he wouldn't let God's people go...

yes isn't it great that we got a stimulus that was almost 800 billion dollars and now they admit they misread the economy. Now they ask us to jump on cap and trade and healthcare. So far they are not showing that they think before they act. Who will suffer the consequences if both these plans are a disaster as is the stimulus.

Sorry fact is that what is right for the American people is no longer important either.

Yup. Hurry up and pass every legislation to pay off contributors and take the first express flight to Banana Republic!

Obama says in January...hurry up and pass stimulus that nobod read to insure that Unemployment numbers don't go over 8%. We at 9.5% and going up. That worked well!
SJA writes: Tuesday, July, 07, 2009 10:55 AM
Well BK
All rational thinking has gone out the window with this administration. Facts and figures are no longer important. Sorry fact is that what is right for the American people is no longer important either.

Morning Diane
Boy we would not want facts to get in the way of a real money maker like this would we.

Yup, can't let science determine legislation...just politics. Just like Healthcare & jobs for Obama Administration...."Hurryup and wait".

This entire Climate Change bill is nothing but bull. Some will get very rich, others like the algore fawners will feel victorious and the average American will again be taxed for no good reason. I heard a great statement that Cap and Trade is a ponzi scheme that would put Madoff in awe. The hurry to pass this fiasco is because so many scientists have come out against this. Boy we would not want facts to get in the way of a real money maker like this would we.
BK writes: Tuesday, July, 07, 2009 7:10 AM
The last time Government
got into this, they said that we were in for an ice-age of catostropic proportions. We were doomed. That was int the 70's. In the 90's it was Global Warming. "We're all gonna die". Now it's; "Well we don't exactly know if it's Global Warming OR Global Cooling so let's call it "Climate Change". Yes, yes...that's the ticket...it covers ALL WEATHER.

How can we make some money off of this and dupe the world? I know Cap & Trade. Let's start in Europe cause they are stupid over there. Result: 4-5 years at 5-10% increase in cost of living.....0 impact on the environment. Wait, wait...it gonna take at least 95 years to kick in.

About this time alot of Scientists began jumping OFF the bandwagon with..."This is Crazy".

What is C&T going to do
Probably the only thing fordeeable is an increase in taxes ans additional governmental intervention. Will it decrease the amount of carbon in the worlds atomsphere I think not, will it decrease the climate warming effect I think not. Just another tax and an addition attempt to control Industry. Our congress does not think and they should be replaced.

"ALL Debate Is Over On The Martian.. Icecaps dramitically shrinking during the last 5-10 years."

Mars's orbital eccentricity, axial tilt, and wobble have exposed it to significantly more solar radiation over the last few years. You may have heard on the news recently that Mars was closer to Earth than it had been for tens of thousands of years. That means it was closer to the Sun than it had been for a very long time. Look up "Milankovitch cycles."

That said, the evidence for any significant global temperature changes on Mars is pretty thin. The surprisingly large effect of dust storms is dominant.

From Roy Spencer
Former NASA scientist;

"Given the pain (and public backlash) the EU has experienced from two years’ experience with its Emissions Trading Scheme, why would our politicians ignore that foreign experience, as well as popular sentiment against cap-and-trade here at home, and run full-steam with eyes closed into this regulatory quagmire?

The only answer I can come up with is: more money and more power for government. As a former government employee, I am familiar with the mindset. While the goal of a private sector job is to create wealth, the government employee’s main job is to spend as much of that wealth as possible. A government agency’s foremost goal is self preservation, which means perpetuating a public need for the agency. The idea that our government exists to help enable a better life for its citizens might have been true 100 years ago, but today it is hopelessly naïve."

NOTW: My friends from Spokane...
...lost their horse trailer, boat, tractor and other machinery when record heavy snows caused the roof of their barn to collapse.

A little twit on Hannity today called in to speak in favor of Cap and Trade. She claims that "scientists say that all this cooling is caused by global warming."

Uh, no. All these lies are the cause of completely killing the fragile economy.

K.G....Take the New York Ponzi Kids, Too
Cuz they've had their coolest June in many, many years.

Down here in Central Florida it's hotter than the walls of Hell and Humid as sin...Ohhhh... Nooooo...It's called Summer in the Tropics, Duuuuudes! Sheeessshhh...Like, what's next...Fall..? Yeah, right. Like I'm gonna believe that, Duuuuudes.

NY had its 8th coolest June. Chicago was way down, Vancouver was also, etc...Can anyone say Pacific Decadal Oscillation ten times fast?

We won't have to worry about the future anyway. WW3 will start when India refuses to give up its 200 million plus cows roaming freely.

No, Neo: Somewhere, Somehow....
...undetected by mere earthlings, there are little not-so-green Martians exhaling and little not-so-green cows farting.

We need to increase the Cap & Trade exponetially to save Mars from CO2 poisoning.

Meanwhile SoCal just had its coolest June ever. Maybe we could send all the liberal Californians to Mars now that they've fixed all of Cacafornia's problems.

ALL Debate Is Over On The Martian..
Icecaps dramitically shrinking during the last 5-10 years. Martian pozi schemers & politicians say that's Martian Made Ice Cap Shrinkage.

Whatever, ponzi greenies, but Hubble and Mars Landers have found NO evidence(pardon that awful, hateful, bigoted, sexist word..)of life on Mars. Yet, those danged Icecaps have shrunk massively. So, you're prolly gonna like blame the like Sun..Right. No way, all debate's over.
NOTW writes: Monday, July, 06, 2009 6:10 PM
15% cap?
That probably why the Repulicans wanted an amendment to suspend the tax if unemployment hit 15%. Pelosi, in her infinite wisdom (I mean control and power grab), said NO! Wouldn't want a little pragmatism to slip in on accident.

Could it be because Nan the
Botox Queen has such a feeling, sympathetic nature? And of course we know the community organizer has only the best interests of the planet in his consideration, after all it is his personal triumph to beggar the nation! Do you think sweet Nan got confused between Steve Jobs and jobs, jobs, jobs?

reasoned-critical thinking thingy...Now, stop that. We need Cap & Ponzi because the leadership wise Bamma and the economy wise Biden say so.

Shipwreck.
