MKH Relocation Efforts Underway

Hey, everyone. I hate to break news on a Friday afternoon (I'm becoming such a politician!), but such is what the timing required.
I'm leaving the great, great folks at Townhall.com and Salem after almost three years for a job at The Washington Examiner, as online editor of the soon-to-launch dcexaminer.com. From an Examiner press release:
As online editor of dcexaminer.com, Ham will be responsible for overall management of the site’s news and editorial content and staff, as well as working with Examiner and outside resources on creative development of new features and functionality. She will work from the Examiner’s downtown Washington, D.C. newsroom and will start June 10.
“We are especially excited and proud to have Mary Katharine Ham join The Washington Examiner because she among the most respected young stars of online journalism and is also well-known to cable television and talk radio audiences through her regular appearances on ‘The O’Reilly Factor’ on Fox News,” said Vivienne Sosnowski, editorial director of Clarity Media, which publishes The Washington Examiner, The Baltimore Examiner and the San Francisco Examiner, as well as the Examiner.com web site.
“Her hiring demonstrates again our commitment to building a great news and information company that excels in three channels, including newspapers, online and video,” Sosnowski said. It was not an easy decision to make. I have appreciated the personal guidance and opportunities offered me by the company and its many gifted, conservative leaders, like Chuck DeFeo, Jon Garthwaite, Hugh Hewitt, Michael Medved, Mike Gallagher, and many, many others who grace the pages and air waves of this powerhouse one-stop-shop for today's conservatives.
It’s been both a professional pleasure and a much-appreciated challenge to work in an environment where I was allowed to be myself and produce any number of oddball web videos and other products.
I'm not outta here just yet, so I'll be around for the next couple of weeks delivering said oddball web videos (which I've been delinquent on lately), and you may see me haunting the place and the new magazine from time to time in the future. Looking forward to hanging out with you for the rest of my time here, and hopefully seeing you when you come visit me at my new place, too! I'm excited to take on another challenge in New Media using the tools and experience Townhall's innovators have given me.
Thanks, as always, for watching and reading. The Townhall audience has always been nothing but kind to me and I have appreciated it every step of the way.

Wow. That makes me sad that you are leaving. I have followed you ever since I heard you speak at the Young America's Foundation National Conservative Student Conference last summer. Oh, well, being a Georgia girl, and a UGA graduate (my future alma mater hopefully), you'll be great wherever you go! |
I like the other writers, but they just don't have the draw you have. See you at the new place! |
Thanks, everyone for the well wishes. I'll be checking in about where you can find me, as soon as things are squared away at the new office, and I have a new address for blogging and such. I'll also be continuing some video products at The Examiner, so HamNation will survive in some form or another... |
And God bless you MKH. You will be sorely missed around here. Best wishes with your new opportunity. |
Dear Hamstress,
It's just uptown for you and an extra mouseclick for us. We'll see how it goes. It's the nature of the web, though, that when someone in your position takes a following with her to a new place, it doesn't mean we LEAVE the old one. TownHall will survive.
I'm not familiar with the Examiners. Let's hope your position at DCExaminer.com is not like George Will's at NEWSWEEK (or Alan Colmes' at Fox); i.e. I hope you have some company there.
Looking forward to your first book and your move to Palm Beach (á la Coulter, Limbaugh). Conservatives need to RECLAIM the island.
And . . . how about that line Limbaugh let loose yesterday about Bikini Atoll? Sounds like a HamNation topic . . .
Orrabest, RNK |

Impressed with your appearances in Bill O'Reilly's program. Just when I'm about to find out about your contributions here in TownHall...and here you are leaving for greener pastures, so I'm given to understand.
You were great! Bill was lucky to have you on his show.
I must find out how to get into your new work and learn from you.
Congratulations and good luck! |

I meant I'm saying so long as I write here in Wantagh, not so long to everyone from there. So long. |
Congratulations, MK, and best of luck at "The Washington Examiner." I'll miss you here. And if this means you're no longer the "Internet Cop" on "The O'Reilly Factor," I'll miss you there, too. This ends up creating a void for me here at Townhall. As I keep saying every time I disagree with the commenters bashing of somebody I like, the main reason I came to Townhall was because of MK. Now that she's leaving All I'm left with is Amanda Carpenter, whom even though I have in my Blogroll at my blog, I have not read her columns in weeks. Rep. Bachmann probably has her blog posts written by her, but posted by a staffer. (I started reading her posts when she made her Townhall debut last week.) And that's about it. I guess I'll remain a member anyway. There have to be perks in membership somewhere. You can find me commenting at Johnny Dollar's Place and Olbermann Watch primarily, but also occasionally at Margaret Hoover's blog, Alisyn Camerota's Greenroom blog, and maybe even at GretaWire. There's my blog, but my posts are my comments. So long, everybody, from Wantagh, New York. |

writing. Wishing you much success in life and in your career. You remind me of my three lively daughters who are articulate and high spirited. God speed. |
You will be missed Mary Katharine. Good Luck. |
Missy, You are awesome!
You'll never be hard for us to find so keep on doing the good work you have been doing and we'll more than likely follow. |
Thank you for all you have done here. Look forward to good things from you over there. |
I have lately noticed favorable articles in the Examiner. While conceived as a strap hanger paper, I have come to like it more and more. More likely than not editorials and columns tend to make sense. I look forward to your influence on the paper and will definitely put their website on my morning news scan. Please, if possible, keep HamNation going. |
Mary good luck to you. Keep a bright young conservative voice. You and Amanda are inspring. We need more young conservatives to be active. I'm sick of Obamamania. Obama will be a disaster for this country. Take on the Washington Post at the Examier and beat them. They are awfull! |
Yes, Mary, you are hot!! And the Examiner is VERY LUCKY to to have you as their employee.
I am looking forward to reading your blogs at The Examiner. Good Luck, Mary Mark mark8262@yahoo.com |
You'll be an asset to whatever organization lands you. It's not like you are dying or anything so it's not so sad for me. . . just a different button on the same keyboard will likely get me to your appropriate spin on the political goings on.
Anyway congratulations on the new gig! I hope it is everything you want. I know you'll do well. Later! |
It'll be sad that TH can't claim ALL the good-looking-way-smart conservative gals (Carpenter, Liebau, and MKH). Ah well. Best of luck, and I'll still read with loyalty. |
All the best, MK!
P.S. You're hot!

They grow up so fast, don't they... CU at the Examiner!
Won't be as colorful and innovative. But it is a great career move. It does seem that those who actually dig for the news will eventually learn how to deliver it online in a profitable way and it makes all the sense in the world to hire a young, tech-savvy person like you to lead the way. (BTW, I prefer stale peeps. Chewier you know.) |
Okay, we'll let you go, but ONLY after you do one final "peeps" video. |
I was about to shed tears over your departure when it suddenly dawned on me ... you're not leaving the internet, you're just changing IP addresses!
The Examiner has been duly bookmarked just below HamNation.
You don't get away that easily, my pretty!
I'm fine with this as long as her new job continues to provide her with opportunities for wackiness and gives us as much or more quality "face time" with the lovely and talented and lovely Ms. Ham.
(-;
I luv me some MK. |
True talent always succeeds. I guess I'll have to add a new stop for the news! |
Congrats, MKH. Nice to see all your hard work pay off. Good luck in your new endevour- I'm sure you'll continue to impress.
However, a funeral service for the dear departed Peeps may be in order. |
Best of luck in your new opportunity. I have one question--who got custody of Peep Theater? |
Congrats! As an admirer from afar, and a friend of Steveegg's, I wish you all the best...and oh, by the way, PLEASE hire Sean!
Hopefully they'll let us comment there. TH will not be the same without you. |
Oh man! Errr Woman!
Now I'll have to add another stop on my rounds to get enough of a Conservative fix in the mornings. |
No more Ham Nations? It's a sad, sad day for us all. Best of luck at the new job. |
Congratulations are in order. I love your straight forward, no nonsense take on political matters as well as your smarts and fantastic sense of humor. I hope you'll still be doing the "Young Guns" segment with Hugh.
Best of luck in your new endeavors, we'll be watching!
I hope that we will still get to see some of your odd ball web videos in the future.
Guess we will all need to add another news source/web place to check regularly. |
We look forward to reading you at the new address!
Best, Jon http://exurbanleague.com |
D.C.'s an ever-churning place. Best of luck. |
