Right out of central casting for PBS. Way to go Fred! |
I thought it was pretty rude. That said the moderator was a stumble bum and handled it poorly. I am glad a feckless liberal question didn't have to be answered though.I loved Mitts answer on what government programs to fund. he truned around to what we can get rid of. This is Mitt's main selling point for me. |
.....Fred won the debate on what he said and the answers he gave but he did not look Presidential ...people are swayed by image more than words ...
....That open collar look doesn't cut it ...if a man is auditioning for the job of President he should at least wear a suit and a tie ...
....Luntz's focus group thought Romney won the debate even though he spoke in platitudes and talking points but he looked smooth and Presidential while doing it ...
.....Put the image with the words ..... |
After the debate Frank Luntz focus group of Iowa Republicans said Mitt was the clear winner.
4 or 5 came in supporting Mitt and like 15-20 supported him in the end.
Watch Hannity & Colmes tonight if you want voters opinion and not spin from people like Matt Lewis. |
question, does that mean when the focus group thought McCain did well a few debates ago - you thought he won? What about the two times Huckabee scored well with Luntz' group?
Matt is not biased against any candidate. In fact, he is one of the most un-biased pundits out there!
JMHO!
PS Harry, the bias comes from the West Coast! |
look more stupid than before.
Had this version of Fred Thompson shown up in June or July he may be in the lead now. |
What the h*ll does it matter when a candidate enters the race? It took me only the Jay Leno interview to figure out Fred and the fact that I like him to be president.
Why does it take 8-15 months and $70 million to figure out a candidate?
Frankly, I think TH made up its mind long ago that it does not want to favor Fred favorably, no matter the substantative proposals that he has put out and the message that he is sending and the strong answers that he gives.
I want a consistent conservative, with strong stature, and solid ideas to move us forward, not flip-flopping RINO Energizer bunnies! |
Unlike most of us who have been following this since the first candidates declared, most registered voters are only now noticing the candidates and the race, so Fred has been there just as long as the others in their minds. |
"A show of hands"???? This woman looks and sounds like my fifth grade teacher Sister Lucilla. A show of hands? Is she asking who needs to use the washroom? These are grown men up for one of the most important jobs on Earth and she just wants them to raise their hands? What would that tell the average voter. NOTHING!
Good for Fred Thompson for insisting on being treated like an adult with an important opinion not a grade school child. He was NOT rude. If anyone was rude and impertinent it was this sour broad. |
Mitt won!
Huh?
Where has Huckabee gotten all those "surge" votes in Iowa from? Thompson, that's who. By doing well today, Thompson may have gotten some of those votes back.
That hurts Huck. |
I've noticed after each debate, which I have to miss because I am busy working to pay my taxes, that I can't find it afterwards anywhere on the internet. Does anyone know where that clip came from so I can watch it?
You'd think the news service that sponsored it would have it available to, I don't know... watch or something... |
Because he managed to stay awake?
Fred's over, folks. Move on. |
and I think the LOOOONNNNGGGGG primary campaigns do not have the effect those participating in them believe they should...unless you want to count all the media advertising dollars that were coming in.
Fred has the only proven conservative history and I am one conservative who will vote for him! |
I hoped our candidates would demand respect, and it appears that one did! Thank you, Fred! |
I liked it when Fred wouldn't respond to the raise of hands baloney, however he should have just answered without asking for 1 minute. He should have blurted out, "NO, I don't believe global warming is caused by man." He missed a big opportunity, because he probably would have been the only one up there to speak the truth, and it would have been GREAT. He missed the chance to stand out.
I hated Romney's answer, and I'm a big fan.
Fred did well on the other questions, but Romney was better, overall. |
Look how fast Huck rose and fell. Fred should still pour on the steam and do something. I hope he does, and I think a Romney/Fred ticket would be pretty good. |
The latest Strat Vison Poll in IA has it Huck 30 Romney 25, Fred 13.
Strategic Vision has usually been an unfriendly Romney Poll. It may have something to do with their methods. I do not think that they are biased.
I want to see more polls but maybe Huck has peaked and is within reach of Romney's GOTV.
I said maybe. |
...and I don't mean deuces! The moderator was incredibly terrible, and shouldn't be let out of her editorial room. Obviously, she needs to mature a bit in the emotional mentality.
It doesn't matter whether Fred should've entered in June or in the fall. Everybody talked about Fred, lots of his comments were covered better then than they have since he has officially stepped into the race. Doesn't look Presidential? What, you think little quirky McCain with the wiggly cheeks does? How about chicken-neck Rudy (sorry about that, chickens)? Or maybe you're thinking of Mitt and that handsome head of dark hair? (actually, Mitt isn't bad, but he is too much of a softy to be my first pick).
I'd definitely vote for Fred, because he knows, instinctively, what the right thing to do is, and what the country needs. |
I agree that this was a defining moment in the debate. It showed backbone and a statesmanlike ability to stand on principle. I wish Fred had done it earlier. If he had showed these qualities in the earlier debates AND supported the fairtax---I would be a definite Fred guy.
BY THE WAY: did you notice that some of the other candidates(including Romney and Rudy) were ready to raise their hands? |
Pedro- I don't think Fred is against the FairTax. He certainly hasn't said so and he got an earfull from the people here in GA when he was in town for Hannity's Freedom concert.
He says that his flat tax proposals should be taken as stepping stones to a larger comprehensive tax reform. I think that is smart thinking. |
If you go back and watch the video again you will clearly see that they did in fact raise their hands.
No more RINO's, vote for Fred! |
It's a letdown that they all proceeded to "concede" the GL issue to the left, acknowledging how awful we are to cause this warming. Where are the rational thinkers? Not in this bunch. |
Fred looked and spoke like Ronald Reagan ("Turn on this microphone, I paid for this mike". When he was given the perfect opportunity by a dumb Democrat moderator, Fred refused to fall for her ploy. I've talked with Ronald Reagan (4 yrs. before he challenged Pres. Ford, and I've talked with Fred Thompson -- they are strong, resolute and both are consistent conervatives. Go Fred Go! |
