Duncan DROPS
Posted by: Amanda Carpenter at 2:19 PM
Current RNC Chairman Robert "Mike" Duncan just withdrew from the race for RNC Chair.

He received 44 ballots of support in the third round of voting, which means the competition for those ballots is going to be fierce.

Comments from National Right to Life
From lifenews.com

Yet, Steele appeared to be unqualified in his support for the pro-life perspective when he talked with the National Right to Life Committee and its Maryland affiliate during his Senate run.

As Darla St. Martin, the group's associate executive director tells LifeNews.com, "Steele clearly told National Right to Life and Maryland Right to Life when he was running for the U.S. Senate in 2006 that he believes that unborn children should be protected by law and that he supports reversal of the Roe vs. Wade abortion decision."

This still doesn't sound like a moderate to me.

hey don't get me wrong I would like it if steele won because he is a MODERATE.

I just am 100% that social conservatives will not allow that to happen.

We will see won't we?

Frank - you are an idiot
Steele was endorsed for RNC Chair by the National Right to Life Committee. In news releases when he ran for US Senate they also called him pro-life. Both major newspapers in the DC area, the Washington Times and Washington Post, identified him as pro-life when he ran for US Senate.

You have nothing to back up your statements but random internet gossip. You are a fool!

Chuck
Yeah that what he said on Hannity and Colmes however some of the quotes he gave to the liberal press were not so generous.

And yes Chuck do not be so naive as think that social conservatives will allow a pro-abortion figur run the RNC.

Don't kid yourself.

Hence why Dawson is closing th gap.

Frank, in revolt?
Only those who think the abortion issue is the be-all and end-all would call Michael Steele "pro-abortion".

I concur that a bad precedent should not be respected just out of any "stare decisis" obligation. But is overturning Roe the job of the RNC chairman? Or is working to elect more Republicans?

Making sure that those Republicans are conservatives is YOUR job. Overturning Roe is YOUR job: see to it in the primary process that pro-life candidates get nominated, even if that means getting out from behind your computer and *being* that candidate.

As for the song, I saw him on Fox with Hannity, and he said it was a non-issue and brushed aside efforts to make it one.

FILIBUSTER IT
http://hotair.com/archives/2009/01/30/mccain-i-dont-see-any -gop-votes-for-the-stimulus-in-the-senate/

I am so proud of Republicans for opposing this disaster of a Democratic "stimulus" plan! It is more of a big honkin pork roll sandwich. Do the right thing--fight this. No compromise at this point. Better the bill die and both parties start over. If the GOP votes 100% against this the GOP can block it with a Filibuster in the Senate.

Hold the Line! Hold the Line! Hold the Line!

after three votes of no-confidence
A step in the right direction already, regardless of the eventual winner.

proven wrong
well I thought duncan had enough inside juice to retain his hold but apparently he didn't.

Can we assume that Duncan is not adverse to cutting a deal for his supporters? Question is who will he cut the deal with?

If he cuts it with stele the race is over and we must question whether duncan and steele really did have a previous arrangement.

Steele, a pro-abortion- "black man first, republican second" moderate is one of the few GOP leades who actually scolded Limbaugh on the magic negro song. I can live with him but will social conservative revolt?
