Democrat's Propose the Largest Tax Increase in American History

Their budget proposes the largest tax increase in American history - The Democrat's budget calls for a tax increase of every tax bracket, slashes the child tax credit, raises the death tax, and reinstates the marriage penalty. And this is just a sampling, there is more. In all, the Democrat's plan will cost taxpayers over $390 billion in the next 5 years. What is particularly frustrating about this ill-advised action is that the Democrats are blatantly ignoring the economic consequences and fiscal benefits that lower taxes have brought to the treasury the past few years. Revenue has increased in double digits the last two years alone because of the economic expansion encouraged by reduced taxation. This revenue growth has been crucial in reducing the deficit. The Democrats refuse to recognize this, though, and instead they just want to tax us to death. This is a recipe for disaster.

Their budget proposes massive increases in spending, expansion of government - As highlighted above, revenue is not the problem, out of control spending is the problem. The Democrats, however, don't seem to care. Their singular goal is to spend more and make government bigger. In that spirit, their budget calls for a $42.5 billion increase in non-defense spending this year. Yikes.

Their budget proposes no offsets to pay for these increases - Despite these huge increases, the Democrats offer no way to pay for them except by raiding Social Security and raising taxes. This is completely irresponsible. Governing is about making tough decisions and ending governments programs that are ineffective and wasteful -- even if they sound good. Their budget, however, has expansion across the board regardless of effectiveness. Hardly fiscal responsibility.

Their budget proposes no fix to the AMT - In spite of their continued talk of fixing this increasingly oppressive tax, they have done nothing and are allowing it to continue to grow and adversely affect more taxpayers.

Their budget proposes no entitlement reform plan - The Budget Committee has heard testimony from several witnesses warning of the unsustainable growth of entitlement programs likes Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security. Repeated experts have said that if entitlements are not reformed, in the very near future, the budget will either be completely consumed by them or Congress will have to double current tax levels. Do we really want to saddle our children and grandchildren with our debt? The Democrats apparently do.

Their budget proposes no accountability standards - With all of these increases in expenditures, the Democrats are conspicuously silent on all the current waste in the federal budget. Instead of making the government more efficient with what it is already operating under, they are just calling for more money. I do not know of one business that operates in such a backward fashion. We need to promote efficiency and accountability -- not just blindly sign away taxpayer dollars to useless government programs.
It is apparent from today that the Democrat's rhetoric during last fall's campaign that they would bring fiscal responsibility to Washington was exactly that -- rhetoric. We need serious reform proposals and decisive leadership, not the tax and spend days of old.

If the Democrats are elected this term we can expect an endless war costing $3Billion a week, Record budget deficits, a National Debt of over 10 Trillion$, incompetent leadership in the FDA, Justice Department, HUD, Defense Department, FAA, FDA, FEMA, Treasury and Homeland Security. Additionally the Social Security Trust Fund surplus will be robbed to "lower the annual deficit" and Hedge fund managers making $Billions will be allowed to pay 15% in income taxes. Of course the jobless rate will soar, homes will be foreclosed and wages of working Americans will stagnate. Additionally manufacturing jobs will disappear and foreign government investment funds will be allowed to purchase the US financial institutions. Inflation will increase on basic items and the gas companies will receive billions of $s in tax benefits.
Instead of raising taxes or lowering spending the Government borrowing will continue strapping our children, grandchildren and at the present rate our great grandchildren with the bill.
I could go on but you can tell what the dire consequences of having the Democrats take power this year. Instead we should elect a Republican President, Senate and House. After all they did so well last time. Better yet maybe we should out source the government.

Well, in teaching the Republicans a lesson by losing the House and Senate. Americans have cut their own stupid throats.
So who is getting taught a lesson here? Its not the Republicans, but rather the American tax payer that is getting jacked with higher taxes.
We are the ones who are getting punished by the Democrats with higher taxes, and I'm not surprised that Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid aren't sending us to political re-education camps to further punish us for voting for Conservative politicians. But then again why do we need to be sent political re-education camps when we have government run schools. |

It doesn't surprise me in the least to see a massive tax hike hidden from the American people. It no longer suprises me that so many supposed Republicans and conservatives have joined the party of evil in doing everything they can to destroy this country. Sphincter and McLame, Hegel, Grahmn and the rest of the cowards and cajoneless traitors in the Republican party being held in some kind of esteem by the mainstream media should be a dead give away they are neither Republican nor conservative. I'm not entirely certain there is ANY real difference between the two parties, except the commiecrats support their own (right or wrong) while the Republicans will drop their own in the grease even if they are right. Can there be any doubt as to why Republicans are seen as more corrupt than the commiecrats? |

I'm confused Congressman. I saw nothing about this in the main-stream media? Don't our news guardians see anything sinister in the Democrat repeal of common sense?
Is any of this a surprise to those of us who well remember the Democrat power of the past?
God help us all if these people gather in the Presidency as well. Will American voters really be that stupid? Unfortunately, they have been known to be just that.
It's amazing how little the Democrats understand people, society, economics, religion, history, responsibility, family, and tolerance. All they ever seem to want is higher taxes to pay for more entitlements for the people who vote for them to get just that. Never mind that such activity will ruin the economy, society, and their chances for any more influence. They want to fiddle while Rome burns. Hah! Hah! George Soros, Al Gore, and others of their ilk can then rebuild with bio-degradable buildings.
Be afraid, my friends. Be very afraid. Impoverishment, civil unrest, and war may follow.
Step out and do something! Write, run for office, vote---be all you can. Find a conservative politician and actively support him or her. |

I have no arguments that the recent Republican-led Congress lost its way fiscally9among other issues). And what BWD says about his his local radio host is interesting because I thought that we lost Congress for the same reason, to teach our Republicans a lesson on spending. November showed us what happens when people either don't show up to the polls or vote a third party as a protest. I voted Republican, but I think it was a good lesson for the GOP to keep fiscally responsible.
We can't afford to protest the presidential vote on the hopes that Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama will become the next Jimmy Carter. Also think of the Supreme Court judges who will retire over that four year span. And don't forget about Congress. If many conservatives go for the protest vote again, our government will be dominated by Democrats and liberals.
It would be the conservative movement's worst nightmare. |

From a strictly economic standpoint, what difference would it make? If you believe that republicans don't waste tax money on par with democrats, I urge you to look at Citizens Against Govt. Waste's web site. Granted, democrats are more wasteful, but the gap isn't as bad as you may think. I also urge you to read BWD's post. I agree with the conservative philosophy on fiscal resposibility, but no republican's seem to be practicing it. At least democrats can say they are being genuine; huge taxes and big government is what their political philosophy is all about. |

... as my local conservative talk-show guy puts it, a Democratic president would be the best thing to happen to the Republicans since Jimmy Carter. 4 years of Hillary might actually put the conservative-ness back in Republicans to the point that we might get a real one elected. I say for now, support Fred Thompson (everyone else smells of RINO-ism). He might actually be our last hope. Remember that God allowed Israel to wander in the wilderness for 40 years so that they would learn their lesson. Pray that we don't have to suffer under 40 more years of Democrat-malaise. |

Big government and wasteful spending will continue untill ALL the clowns in our current governement are replaced and that means on all levels, your local government right up to the fools in DC. Incidentally, it is amusing that democrats respond to this sort of situation with absurd logic: "well, well, the republicans did it too" missing the point entirely and sounding like any common 4 year old. The republicans lost both houses for failing to govern according to the conservative philosophy, not because anyone thinks the democrats have a particualary better idea of how to run the country. |

"We need serious reform proposals and decisive leadership, not the tax and spend days of old..." This is sanguine advice that both Parties should follow. Unfortunately "of old" means the past six years. Hate to state the obvious but there's no difference between Donkeys and Elephants when you see them from out here in the flatlands.

To end the war and increase spending. Nothing could be further from the truth. If there was a mandate to end the war, Lieberman would have lost. The freshman democrats ran on conservative platforms, and now they are the tax and spend, anti-military McGovernites.
I wish a third part would develop, but the last time I supported one(Ross Perot), all I did is help elect Bill Clinton. |

Equals Lies.
12 years being the minority party taught the
democrats nothing. They've returned right back
to the same old pack of lies and stealing they
were stopped from doing. The republicans haven't
helped. There's so much they could have corrected
when they held both majorities.
Looks to me like there should be a huge movement
towards a third party, the independents.
As I keep reminding my senators and representatives, Lieberman, Lieberman, Lieberman. He won an outstanding victory after being tossed by the

isn't big spending Arnold a Republican, haven't the Republicans had control of the Pres., the congress and the Supreme Court the last six years and done nothing but ramp up spending, war, fees and massive increases in the money supply but we got a little tax cut. Big deal, how 'bout getting back to Constitutional government? |
