Could It Be Hillary?

John King, sitting in for Anderson Cooper on CNN, took some characteristically elliptical remarks from Barack about choosing a veep who "challenge[s] [his] preconceived notions" and speculated breathlessly about the possibility of a Hillary pick.
Republicans should be so lucky -- for several reasons.
First, there goes the "change" rationale for Barack's candidacy. If he's simply going to bring Hillary right into The White House anyway, how does he justify having run against her -- or, given the closeness of the vote and the experience differential between them, being at the top of the ticket rather than #2? What's more, see how well the choice plays out with his key constituency of young people -- who may feel duped that they actually believed the hype about him being different.
Second, the calculus involves an assumption that may well be unwarranted -- namely, that Hillary can actually deliver the 18 million voters who supported her to the Democrats. At the outset, one had better be sure they were really voting for her, and not against her arugula-eating, elitist primary opponent. Then, they'd better hope that Hillary's supporters don't figure that it makes sense to sit this one out, now that their candidate's the guaranteed frontrunner for 2012, rather than working hard to install her as second banana until 2016, when she's almost 70.
Third, a Hillary pick would reveal several things about Barack's M.O., none of them flattering. It's obvious that he wouldn't pick Hillary and bring along all the Bill Clinton dysfunction, the vetting questions, and the upstaging unless he felt he had to. So then it becomes a matter of whether he overreacts, panicking at the recent disturbing poll numbers -- and enough so to be willing to mortgage his ability to act independently as President (without Bill and Hillary baggage) just for the sake of winning. That certainly wouldn't reveal anything too flattering about his "crisis" decision-making.
Or could he be naive enough -- or arrogant enough -- to believe that he can do what no other Democrat has been able to: That is, to shunt Bill and Hillary aside?

regarding why some of us are voting for McCain. I don't hate McCain. Never have. However, your assessment is correct that when one is voting for McCain it is "against" Obama. That's what an election is about. Voting FOR your candidate whereby you are voting "against" the other.
I do have to wonder if this election will start a breakaway party with some Democrats forming a different version of the party as it is known now. That would be a "change" I could believe in, lol. |

It's won't be Hillary, but it would be an unstoppable ticket. Ms. Liebau's posting is just whistling in the dark.
On the other topic: none of you people are voting FOR McCain. You hate McCain and have for years. You'll be voting AGAINST Obama. |

Hillary would definitely accept Veep if offered. She hungers for the top slot and her appetite will not be satiated until she gets it.
She would be tough as Barry's Veep. Because the 25% of her supporters who are willing to sit out or vote for McCain would presumably go back and vote for an Obama-Clinton ticket. But it would also show that the Dems and Barack are completely flustered right now and probably would be perceived a sign of weakness. I would suspect they would lose an equal if not greater number of Indies. |

reason I will vote McCain.
TRUST
McCain will not give this country away nor will he surround himself with anti-American people.
Obama has proven he doesn't care who his associates are and quite frankly I don't want Daley and his cohorts in the WH nor do I want George Soros pulling the strings.
However, back to the topic at hand - Hillary will not accept a VP position even if offered it. Hillary supporters will not support Obama simply because she is on the ticket. Her supporters know that the only reason he will pick her is because he is a loser and needs her coattails to ride on. It is the intense dislike and disdain people have for Obama and his associates that will keep them from voting for Obama. Why should Hillary sully her name by being associated with Obama? Let him fall on his own.
When Obama loses this election it will be the last we will see of him and good riddance. Maybe he will go somewhere and run for king of some nation and have his subjects grow arugula.

The sheet breadth of silliness here is breathtaking, especially on the night where Time is reporting that McCain is picking Mittens.
1. So why did McCain even bother to run against Mittens if he was going to bring him into the White House?
2. Obama has never stated that he is the only acceptable choice just like McCain has never stated he is the only acceptable choice. The argument that a change candidate must select a complete Washington outsider is so silly its beneath even Jealous Carol.
3. McCain hates Mittens. HATES him. Yet he'll likely pick him becaise he'll help him win. Think Carol will talk about that next week? Yeah, if you believe that I'll sell you one of McCain's houses...
Can't you people talk about issues? Ever? Can you give one reason to vote FOR McCain rather than just against Obama? |
