They Hated Reagan, Too ...

Despite popular belief, during his presidency, Ronald Reagan was attacked and mocked -- just as George W. Bush is today. The unflattering picture above says it all. Today, the establishment media would have you believe Reagan was always thought of as a hero -- while Bush is a bafoon.

While I would not put Bush in the same category as Reagan, it's important to remember that the media hated Reagan, too.

In doing some research for another post, I stumbled upon this quote from a July 1987 Atlantic article. This could be written about Bush, today:

"Nineteen eighty-seven is Year One of the post-Reagan era. The problem is, Ronald Reagan is still in office. The revolutionary regime has outlived the revolution. Reagan himself is a lame duck, his effectiveness depleted and his popularity squandered."

... It should be noted that this was published in July of 1987. Reagan's "Tear Down This Wall!" speech at Brandenburg Gate occured one month earlier.

Reagan
Reagan was the greatest president of the 20th century. The press HATED him. They were blind to his accomplishments which is scary considering he came to office after the failures of Carter and Nixon administrations. Bush is no Reagan. But post his administration and perhaps after four years of Obama people will realize that he was a pretty good president after all.

Clinton screwing up did not involve death?!?!?!?!? Just tell that to the families of victims on 9/11. Clinton was offered bin Laden on a silver platter and turned down the offer. He “promised” to go after the terrorist after the first World Trade Center bombing, but just like everything else he said, empty promise. And I will not even bother mentioning Vince Foster! Kimberly - your comments do not stink of a pot smoker living in their parent’s basement. But rather some miserable college chick that never leaves the library.

and he coming back with the commonsense speeches loaded with love and pride in our country. OUR country. He always included every single person as if he knew each of us personally.

You will be able to commiserate with the mullahs and Sandinistas for all eternity. Having recently finshed reading, "The Reagan Diaries," I was struck by how many times he complained of the press misrepresenting, or even completely fabricating the news. In some cases, they reported stories to make them the exact opposite of the way they actually occurred. Some things never change. If you watch 30 minutes of news, you've been lied to.... If you watch 30 minutes of CNN, NBC, CBS, or ABC, you've watched pure fiction.
