Apparently, the GOP was going to cleverly vote "present" on the Stupak amendment to scuttle the entire bill, but the Catholic leadership intervened and threatened them not to "play games" with an abortion amendment.
In other words, the social conservatives intervened to save socialized medicine with its attendant enslavement of the medical profession, its tight yoking of the taxpayer, its looting of private medical companies, its assault on applied science itself, and its destruction of global medicine, in order to save a few embryos. |

I was telling my friends and wife for months that that $700 billion would end up being a slush fund for Lefty ambitions. They'll funnel the money where it will help them: paying off people, repaying people, and the like. And no one will look into it, or no one will report what is ultimately found. It's what Chicago does, it's what Washington does now. Welcome to Machine Politics.
The imbecile Congressman Altmire was "non-committed" to this bill until this weekend, when I'll bet my house he voted FOR the bill he was uncommitted on. It infuriates me. They lie, they distort, they play dumb/coy, they play us...and we re-elect them. They're the problem...as we are too. We don't pay enough attention. |

The Dems are taking long-term view. They're willing to take a hit this year, if in a decade they come to power and stay there. The debate will be over. How can Republicans talk about personal responsibility and liberty while huge percentages of folks are dependent on gov't healthcare? In this sense, I suppose, the argument has been over for two generations. Republicans lost the health care debate when they failed to defeat Medicare and Medicaid, and when they PROPOSED and passed prescription drugs.
What's their message, that it's ok for them to give out huge benefits but not Dems? They've failed to make their case, and for the foreseeable future we'll be a different country. |

What makes me laugh is that the government thinks it can take over one part of the free market and predict how things will work without realizing that the private sector will change also. Pelosi and ilk expect that the doctors will keep doing what they are doing: taking government set payment for all comers, and paying for their own education and racking up enormous student loans. We have doctors already posting here that say they will refuse to work in slavery to the government. How many potential med students will still elect to go to med school if they pay an enormous cost for little or no return on the investment in their education? To live in poverty while they struggle to pay off their student loans? To have government bureaucrats tell them how to treat their patients? To make the private sector end work, eventually the government will have to run the med schools as well. Then we will have the government deciding who practices medicine, we the people will pay for their education, and the gov will decide who gets med care and when and how much. Is this what Americans voted for when they fell for hope and change? When will politicians learn even the basics of economics? For every government intervention, the other side adapts and changes. The gov projections are based on the status quo in the private sector. This is asinine. |

We need and must demand a "Citizen's Indebtedness by Government Protection Act". This Act is intended to hold all elected Officials Accountable and Responsible for their votes which any Representative or Senator knowingly casts that either does or will create indebtedness for the living and /or unborn citizens of the United States of America. Representatives or Senators that cast such votes must be held accountable, without statute of limitation, by denying each Representative or Senator all government perks , all government retirement benefits and pay, and all future government positions, appointed or elected, for as long as they shall live. They shall be tried, in Court, for crimes against the People. The specific crime will be Malfeasance While in Office and Violation of the Public Trust, these crimes will carry a fine of not less than $5,000,000.00 and imprisonment of not less than 10 years, for each offense charged |
|
My personal physician has already warned that he will also shut down his practice. He is a fine practitioner who gives his patients excellent care but he will no longer be able to support his family based on what he sees so he will need to find another profession. Luckily he is only in his 40's.
Doctors have been vilified by this administration and is is shameful. I have many physician friends, mostly surgeons. These men are dedicated professionals who give great care. Sadly, with the low reimbursement rates and the high expenses most are not making the money the deserve.
Funny the Senators and Congressman who are doing us such a disservice believe they should be paid more than the physician who saves our life. |
|
The House has provided "free" healthcare. Now for their next trick they will provide the doctors willing to see patients possessing the free healthcare.
I personally would like to thank Pelosi and the House. I had planned to stay in private practice until I attained the age of seventy-five. Why? Because I love what I do and I love my patients. But (there is always a but) I also run a small business and must break even or even make a small profit. This isn't going to happen with this bill.
So, the new "free" healthcare come into effect around 2013 or 2014 (although the taxes under this new bill start soon). I'll be 62 or 63 at that time. Sounds like a good age to retire. The reality is about 45% of physicians are going to do exactly the same as I am planning.
Good luck with your new "free" healthcare. Remember the names NANCY PELOSI and HARRY REID when you cannot be seen for an emergency for 5 or 6 weeks. Remember PELOSI and REID pulled this off --- can't blame BUSH. |

Let's also hope these idiots (my imbecile son and his dufus goofball wife included) can look at their grandchildren & great-grandchildren and say, "I'm sorry! We were just plain stupid. We knew better, but we totally ignored you because you weren't as yet born when we stole your future and saddled you with this unimaginable debt". My imbecile son bought a car with "Cash For Clunkers" money that was stolen from my as-yet-unborn great-grandchildren and then insisted it was simply a return of some of the 10 grand he paid in taxes last year. |
|
Will at least one of you just admit that this isn't constitutional, but you just don't care?
At least be honest. |
|
Ok, been asking this question around.
Where is the constitutional justification for this bill?
Specific language please libs. |
|
|
Unfortunately our local rag will print one conservative letter with four or five far-left liberal letters - always. Any conservative or Republican who submits a letter is viciously attacked. Even many veterans around here are pro-Obama and pro-far left. I quit sending letters. Our other smaller local paper even has a very pro-left socialist who submits a weekly column. |
|
these elected parasites haven't realized they have given the Sleeping Giant another nudge. My elected nincompoop voted for it, he cut and ran when a constituent at one of his (maybe only) Town Hall demanded that he participate in the same plan. He said he'd look into it. That was in August and he's still not answered the question..well yes he did..he voted for Barrys Botoxed concubine's monster.
If you have any access to writing in your local rags..DO IT..some may spike them but a lot will print them. And if anyone in these traitors districts have the $$$$ how about buying ads in local publications/ GIve them NO REST NO PEACE!
And another thing those of you who are believers PRAY, I don't believe God is finished with this Republic He gave us yet. I think He is using this tryants delight to wake us up and return to Him and our judeo/christian heritage. Remember II Chronicles 7:14 and that's to the believers..HE IS OUR MOST POWERFUL WEAPON against this demonic takeover. I Peter 3:12 is another encouragement. |

Right you are. Those who voted for these 220 can look at themselves in the mirror when they are rationed with their health care. When their paycheck is less and when they realize that they are working to pay for illegals and for abortion on demand. Yes lets hope they look in the mirror and blame the right person when they are told they cannot get the surgery or the medicine then need. |
|
It would seem there are 220 wizards in Congress that are sure that they are so much smarter then anyone else, they, and they alone, can fix the health care system. It didn’t hurt to have a $700 Billion stash, to buy the votes they needed. You can be sure we will never know just how much was paid to gain those extra 2 votes. I thank the voters that don’t have the common sense to keep these schemers in check.
These 220 geniuses are unable to see the long string of failures that have come before this bill. Things like the jobless rate now over 17%, Medicare, bankrupt, Social Security, bankrupt, Cash4Clunkers, the failure to supply the H1N1 vaccine, the T.A.R.P. fund, that no one can now produce any accounting off. And the list goes on and on. All complete failures at the expense of the taxpayers, of course our wizards pay no price for the damage they do. Perhaps they have finally managed to go that one step-to-far, and will be brought to account in 2010.
But put the blame where it belongs, on the voters that put these 220 into that office |

"I think you will appreciate the Swiss health care system."
Based on what? I've never been there let alone been sick there.
It might be great for all I know.....
But taking the word of someone who equates passage of this bill the the Emancipation Proclamation(I'm having trouble typing with a straight face) well pal.......I am saying you are not a credible source on anything more than the quality of the local China White or any other preference of self induced delusion.
You, and others, are concerned with your ideology, not with quality healthcare. Your statements prove that.

Just ignore the detractors. They are meaningless gnats and the best way to deal with them is to ignore them. |

Count me in! I also quit AARP. We have to work even harder now. RINO's and traitor Republicans are hurting us. |

i am mad as hell . and will work my a--- off to vote every one who voted for this out of office . there going to un employed in november .. |

If you read the posts here by some of the loony libs you realize that they are the louts that we are expected to take care of. It is easy to see that even if you put all their brain cells together you could not come close to assembling a full brain. Those who are too stupid or lazy to take care of themselves are thrilled that the rest of us hard working fools will be supporting them. The Marxist in charge is so happy that he has just managed to take away another of our freedoms and charge us more money while doing so. |
|
|
This is NOT about health care. It's about raising taxes on the productive to support the louts, who are getting close to 50% of us. It's about controlling your life. Who believes that witch, Pelosi, cares about their health? Anyone, anyone? |
|
I mean what else can such a pathetic loser like you say after being beaten so badly?
LOL! |
|

i would say f u c k you too but you are too damned ugly . |

This link will provide a list of the Yay's and Nay's of those who voted for and against the healthcare coup.

Yes, the Democrats were cheering on the House floor after they forced a vote on a bill that a majority of the people, even by liberal polls said they didn't want. Imagine, cheering the fact that they just told their constituents to take a flying expletive.
Phone calls didn't work, faxes and emails were ignored and face-to-face was ineffective as well. The only thing left is to do exactly what the career politicians are warning us not to do, force every incumbent in office to run against a candidate of "OUR" choice and back that candidate with our support and our money.
And while we are at it, a daily barrage of those emails faxes and telephone calls to both district and congressional offices needs to happen until November. By their actions, they have made us angry; they won't like us when we are angry. |
|
struck dumb by royinoslo's words! His reply is realy all we can Expect from such churlish "BEER GOGGLE WEARING" losers!
TOO FRICKIN' FUNNY! |

I have plenty of experience with the US system and the Norwegian system, as well as some insight into several other systems which provide universal coverage. These systems vary greatly as you well know, being Swiss. The goal of universal coverage as a human right is a no-brainer. I'd prefer it to be in the Constitution, but as long as a majority of Americans consistently recognize it, that will do.
So I congratulate you on your return to Europe. I think you will appreciate the Swiss health care system. |
|
|
Can we get a list of exactly who is running in 2010 so we can help each other in some way get them out of office. |
|
This was bound to happen. One more step towards the painful place we're going to have to go if we are truly going to recover our country's former greatness.
IF we have courage, this will simply be a water-mark along the way of the 'angry men'. Something that girds our resolve.
IF we lack courage, this will simply mark a further sinking of our country into oblivion.
It's going to be now or never, soon.

The poor Canadians (and Americans and Illegal Aliens)! Where will the Canadians, and everyone else, go for their urgent or critical health care treatments once the new "system" (tyrannical socialism) is in place in the USA? Imagine the chaos when all of the new government health insurance bureaucrats and clerks try to reconcile errors in claims and billings with the billing office administrators of physicians and hospitals. Who is going to interpret a 2000 page "Law" in order to administer the payments and allowed treatments with fairness? In a survey conducted about 10 years ago, the IRS gave 10 different answers to the same tax question. You must go to Federal Tax Court in order to resolve taxation disputes with the IRS. Now you will have to go to a Federal Health Insurance and Health Care Court in order to resolve disputes over your billing or care. Of course, if you have a care dispute, you may die before your case gets resolved because cases taken to Tax Court, as an example, usually take a year just to get heard and another 1 to 3 months for a ruling. Just imagine the complications involved in trying to resolve a health care dispute: you have the patient and his lawyer, the Doctor, the Hospital, the Government health insurance bureaucrat, and the office administrators of the Doctors and Hospitals that have to be heard and reconciled in the dispute. This new “Health Care” Bill is a “make work” tyrannical socialist project for unemployed Lawyers, and it will create new classes of workers called Health Insurance Adjustors and Health Law Administrative Judges. God help us!

"The Senate will have the final say"
That and so will The People. If we've learned anything through out history, it's that if the people don't want it... you can pass paper all day long.... with 0 results.
This is not over by a longshot.

"It's like the Emancipation Proclamation, which did much more symbolically than practically."
Gooddrugsinoslo?
Emanicapation Proclamation?
Lay down for a while. The room will stop spinning eventually.
I'd ask you to show me in the constitution where it mentions a right to access but I wouldn't want you to drool on it. |

Michael Steele (being interviewed on Fox) says "the Dems are applauding themselves right out of office."
If so then you better show a whole lot better judgement than you , Newt, and the RNCC showed in NY-23 |

How much time have you spent here? Do you get what the US model is? I come from Europe but have lived here a long time. You don't understand the lack of self responsibility behind this measure.
Honestly, this is a step backwards. The legislature is very poorly mandated. If this keeps up, I will move (back) to Switzerland to a better life given the taxes that will be expected. Norway is small. Its easy to gloat about a homogeneous society. Switzerland also, but with more sun (and is closer to Italy!).
If you want to learn something, ask. Otherwise, you're just some guy at the pub.

Royinoslo - You use the Emancipation Proclamation as a comparison, but what you have just applauded is the reinstatement of slavery, you dolt.
Slavery is one being forced to work for another on terms defined by another.
This bill enslaves everyone who has to pay for it. It enslaves everyone who has to participate in it against their will. It enslaves doctors who have to work under the terms defined by it.
Health care is not a right. It doesn't exist to be breathed in like air. Someone has to provide it and someone has to pay him/her to provide it. Just because it exists today in certain quantities and with certain levels of quality does not mean it will continue to be so when conditions are as changed as they will be with this bill.
What is your next step, moron? Do you order doctors to work under this system? Do you tell them what they will do and for how much? And, when they tell you to go take a flying leap, then what?
The imbeciles who voted for this bill might just as well have voted that we all live in tents since some have no homes. They will reduce our level of health care similarly.
|
|
His quote: "...the Dems are applauding themselves right out of office."
The Democrats are nailing down the framework in which the government will control all access to health care. What you get and when (or if) you get it will be a matter of government policy. Your most private and intimate decisions will reviewed and approved or disapproved by Washington bureaucrats. That's the endgame that's the inevitable result of this framework.
Also, the nation will go broke.
In the shadow of this fascist catastrophe, and obscene assault against the American economy and our most fundamental liberties and the American Constitution itself, Michael Steele perceives a strategic political advantage for his team.
Now you understand why we're stuck in this mess. |

Be prepared to work on removing from office those reps which are coming up for re-election in 2010 and the future. We also need to work on getting rid of that rhino in LA. He is already under investigation. Rally the troops to show them. |
|
but Obamao will try twisting thier arms as he did the representives, and they will no doubt cave as well. Remember, even if they knew for a fact they would be voted out of office next year, it wouldn't keep them from doing theri duty to the annointed one because the shadow government has control of their puppets. And besides what do they have to lose - they will draw their full salary, plus maintain full cadillac medical care, security etc., until they die.
Fellow Americans...are we going to take this lying down? Are we screwed! Time will tell if anyone is willing to revolt and tell them hell no, you're not pulling this unconstitutional bullshiit, or lie down like cowards and cry in their beer. |

when they go back behind closed doors they will take out the Stupak amendment and add a few billion more to spending - we will somehow get to find this out and continue to speak out against it. The truth will come out and it will die before a senate vote. |

Scum sucking leeches just voted away freedom of choice of the (free individual) for our nation's health care. Now we are dependent upon the government for our personal health care decisions. Enter the death panels and all it entails for our children and ourselves. |
