How's Pelosi Doing At InTrade?
Posted by: Hugh Hewitt at 8:48 AM
Guy Benson rises to defend the beleaguered Speaker.

Pelosi should resign from the Speakership, of course, and not because she endorsed the enhanced interrogation techniques though any lefty who has ever denounced any member of the Bush Administration for employing the techniques is obliged to hound her from office.

Pelosi should be booted for her transparent lies and the unjustified criticisms she has heaped on the intelligence community.

Are there 41 Democrats with enough honor to approach Boehner with a deal to elevate Ike Skelton or some other senior Democrat to the Speaker's chair if Steny Hoyer doesn't organize the ouster of the compromised Madame Speaker?  Such a move might have been unthinkable in previous years, but this is the session in which John Dingell got the boot from Henry Waxman, a ruthless overturning of the traditional rules of seniority that suggests the new age puts much more stock in political advantage than right of place.  Pelosi is now deeply damaged goods with a value that is declining by the day.  The GOP might prefer she stay in the job and drag Dems down with her approval ratings, but serious issues demand serious leadership and Republicans ought to support the elevation of a responsible, trustworthy Speaker.  How long will House Dems --already looking at what history says should be a very tough cycle for them and uneasy with the sharp lurch to the left-- put up with a beclowned leader?  How long should the country have to?
