Murtha Supports Secret Earmarks
Posted by: John Campbell at 4:25 PM

Last night (or actually about 1:45AM this morning), the House passed a bill to fund our intelligence operations (CIA, NSA etc.). Disturbingly, several earmarks were slipped into this important national security legislation without the knowledge to most members until the very last moment. Altogether, 26 unclassified earmarks were included totaling around $97 million.

The largest beneficiary of these secret earmarks was none other than Rep. John Murtha (D-PA). One of his earmarks directs $23 million to a drug intelligence center in his hometown of Johnstown, Pennsylvania. He got this pork for his district even though both the Government Reform Committee and GAO have criticized the center for being an unnecessary use of taxpayer dollars. The center’s remote location and the fact that there are 19 other operations just like it have caused these oversight panels to publicly oppose its continued operation. Even drug enforcement officials have been quoted as saying the center is basically “a jobs program that Mr. Murtha wanted for his district.”

Three times yesterday, motions were made to take the House into secret session so that we could discuss any such earmarks and whether they have legitimate merit or are just pork. Three times on near party-line votes, these motions were defeated. Also, an amendment was offered to strip just the Murtha earmark and use the money for more human intelligence resources. That too was defeated. Why? Did the Democrat's not want to open up their earmarks for disclosure even to the rest of us in Congress? How much money will not be spent on real intelligence efforts because of secret earmarks? I guess Rep. Murtha and the Democrat's feel bringing home the bacon is more important than prioritizing and properly using our national security funding.

It was not too long ago, just last November to be exact, that Nancy Pelosi promised to "crack down on earmarking” and decried the “special interest earmarks that are the ones that go in there in the dark of night that they don’t want anybody to see…”

Well my friends what's worse than hypocrisy? Hypocrisy that threatens peoples safety and security.

The lefts free market in action!
What we see with Murtha's pork is the hold factions have on the left. The drug intelligence center, he wants to fund, is just another government agency to requiring service, to service. Murtha fulfills the needs of his base with another government run program. Just check this link, and find out how many of his campaign contributors could receive benefit from a center such as this; http://query.nictusa.com/cgi-bin/can_give/H6PA12030 You will find many of those contributing free markets, contributing to many on the left. Some you will find contribute to all sides, as they hedge their bets. Earmarks are not inserted for the whole, but for the money factions running the left. In turn, with the left in power running, and directing, this country. They create their free market, at our expense.

As Capt Renuad put it
"I'm Shocked! Shocked do you hear that..."
The Democrats have been for sometime not only the party of liars, but the party of lies. You will find that they also follow Goebils advice by repeating the the big lie often and loud enough until it is believed to be true. But what can one do when they own the loudest bullhorn? What can one do when the majority of the people who vote are so gullible and will swallow their bilge without comment? We can learn from our mistakes, is what we can do. No more, "that'll show them" votes. The time for that is in the primaries. If you are a conservative running for office in a local or state election, take a moment, talk to the others who are running, see who has the best chance of winning and not spilt the primary vote so that a RINO gets the nomination. Put your ego aside. Don't believe everything you hear, encourage others not to believe it either. Give them reliable sources to check. Yes, you'll have to spoon feed some of them, but let them know they've been swindled. It will be slow going at first, but it must be done. Support worthy canidates for office, give some of your time, at least. When you see a news crew asking questions on a man on the street thing, be sure to take the time to speak to them. Text message your friends about it if they can get there and have them do the same. File complaints against the radio and TV stations during their public comment period for renewal of their license or make a comment, it'll stay in their file. If you have a vid cam and one of the opposition is having a "townhall" or giving a speech, be there and tape it. Put any and all gaffs on You Tube. We are at war people, not just against the Islamo-fascists, but against these hypocritical, two-faced, surrender monkey, nanny state, lying sacks of ****. Its well past time we started winning it.

Wake Up Folks.
Wake Up Folks. The dems have shown they are the most corrupt political Party going. Murtha is just one of the viruses that infects the party. What we need is a Republican controlled Senet and Congress. Led By a decent Conservative President. Preferably Fred Thompson.

Murtha's Type...

...are not uncommon among staff officers in the reserves or regulars. Boot licking, back stabbing and butt kissing are their MO's to promotion, both military and self. Their ambition is to build mini-empires for themselves. John Murtha was probably sad the day Saddam Hussein was hanged. Murtha understood Hussein.

Pelosi and Murtha=Hypocrites
We sat and listened to these two in the last election tell us how the Democrats were going to bring a new morality to Congress. So, they got elected. Guess what? The gullible "independents" found that they voted for actually WORSE representation because they believed the smear stuff that Rahm Emmanuel fed them. And they voted for "conservative" Democrats who are now voting party line along with the liberal leadership.

Guess what, "independents"? You got lied to big time. Remember the lies of "more open and honest government", "a Speaker for the whole house", and all the other hogwash out of the Democrats mouth in 2008 IF you bother to go to the voting booth.

MURTHA'S NOT ALONE

Anybody know any pol that doesn't want to bring home the bacon?

It's simply that Murtha is such a complete hypocrite, "a person who pretends to be what he or she is not, one who pretends to be better than is really so, or to be pious, virtuous, etc. without really being so." That definition is from my Webster's New World dictionary. Fits Murtha to a "T," doesn't it?

When I see Murtha literally raving and ranting, I am so revolted I want to regurgitate.

The Citizens Against Government Waste is a wonderful Web site for information on all the porkers in D.C. It's enough to make one sick.

Is anyone surprised Murtha is such a sneaky, craven hypocrite?

Getting Rid of Murtha
I sent copies of John Campbell's piece to various journalists in Western Pennsylvania. The problem is that the profoundly corrupt Murtha is seen as "untouchable" by the press in this area. He regularly has lunch with Richard Mellon Scaife, presumably this notorious "right-winger" who owns the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. As far as the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, they have been drooling over Murtha (known as "The Prince of Pork") almost since the Lyndon Johnson era. The Johnstown Democrat occasionally has articles mildly critical of Murtha but he is too powerful for them to take on directly. If you'd like to help unseat this blot on our republic, please contact me, either through comments on my blog (click on name above) or by e-mailing me at TalkTop65@netscape.com. Thanks,
