This may surprise regular listeners to my radio show and readers of this blog: I have never laid eyes on Dean Barnett. I wouldn't know him if I ran into him with a snowmobile.

But he is a true friend. That's the marvel of the internets --that I, or you, could become friends in the best sense of the word with someone you had never met.

Barnett is an extraordinary fellow, and his writing is well known to everyone who visits here. He's gone off to power-up The Weekly Standard's virtual presence, and he is missed.

But he's still the go-to-guy behind the microphone when I am off on travel, and if you have any interest in inspiration, you'll read his offering on living with a disease generally thought to be fatal.

Bravo, Barnett. May many more pamphlets --and books-- follow.

But I still hate the Red Sox.

Hugh, We sure do miss Dean's blogging here at Townhall. I'm a Weekly Standard subscriber, so I'll continue to keep up with him over there. Dean really knows how to dangle a carrot in front of the screaming lefties and the nutty Ron Paul Acolytes ! Please continue to have Chowdah as your back-up QB behind the microphone; he's hilarious. I'm even beginning to catch myself saying certain words in (dare I say)...a Chowdah accent.

I am sorry he is leaving TH. N ot a fan of the weakly standard, but they got a first class writer, and genuine nice guy-so thats good news forthe standard. Our loss is their gain

Hmm. You've never met each other face to face, which means that no one has ever actually seen the two of you in the same place together. Maybe you're actually the same person--Dean Barnett is your alter ego, the Red Sox loving chowdaman. Can the Generallisimo confirm or deny this theory.
