A Palin Puzzlement

Governor Palin has not only announced she will not run for reelection in 2010; she is resigning effective July 26.
The decision not to run again is eminently understandable. The decision to resign is not -- at least if the Governor is truly interested in a career in national politics. Does she truly think her chances at securing national office would be enhanced by failing to serve even one full term as Governor?
Yes, yes, I know -- Barack Obama won the presidency with the least impressive credentials of any modern candidate. But something tells me that as time goes on and voters evaluate his performance, they will become convinced that his inexperience was a problem, not a plus. And that phenomenon would not operate in Governor Palin's favor.
I have not always agreed with every decision Governor Palin made over the past six months. But I am disappointed if she decides to withdraw from the national scene and deprives us all of the chance to see her show up her low-minded and nasty critics.

She'll be better served by getting out there and taking it directly to Barry, something she cannot possible do as Gov.
Look: whether she served out her term or not, the nay-sayers would always chime in about what a small little state Alaska is, and how the experience wasn't that great. IF she gets out on the national scene, engaging in debate, she will learn and hone her skills.

Marcus Buckingham wrote an influencial book about successful leaders it is called, "First Break All The Rules". As a person who is constantly reading biographies on Sarah Palin, I can say that they all agree on at least two points. Sarah runs as the underdog, and second Sarah Palin does not play by the political rules. Obviously it is fair to say that her way of doing things has served her well in politics thus far. Sarah Palin is known for doing the politically unexpected and here we have a prime example of her doing such. Even I confess that I did not see this coming, but Sarah Palin has natural political skills that he served her well for sometime now. Will it work in the long run, I am inclined to think that it will. I think Sarah knows that Obama is going to be politically dead by 2012 and she now has to overcome her greatest hurdle which is the GOP elite establishment. Within the last few days Sarah Palin has been attacked by GOP elites from various sources such as Steve Schmidt, Charles Krauthammer, and today Jonah Goldberg; none of whom are Reagan Conservatives. Sarah has now freed herself up to play a major role in both helping rebuild the GOP and second to build political alliences that she will need by 2012. Now she can go after Dumbo and GOP "moderates" in the media as much as she wants, without having to focus on two jobs at the same time. |

Whatever she does, the small-minded nasties on the left will find fault. If she healed the sick and raised the dead they would criticize her for putting doctors and funeral homes out of business.
She has already been criticized by the left for ignoring her duties to the state. Now they criticize her for resigning.
Just ignore the mental midgets. By the time OBama and the Democrats get through destrying the country, just about anyone who's not a Democrat will be able to win. |

Well, I see one of three possibilities:
1.) She is resigning to prep for 2012, and is getting some incredibly bad advice from political consultants.
2.) There is a personal or family crisis that she was not prepared to speak of yet. I hope this is not the case.
3.) We will hear of a coming scandal and this is part of a deal hashed out to avoid it.
In any event, unless it's option 2, I don't see people who aren't already on board the Sarah train happy about voting for a candidate that ditched the job mid-term. |

1) Advertise and Promote the Fact that you are forming a Grand Jury in Blogs, Local Newspapers and Community Organizations.
2) Form the Grand Jury and select a Foreman.
3) Select a Private Attorney General to make Presentments to Grand Jury, if local DA refuses to make presentments.
4) Select a convenient Meeting Place.
5) Communicate with all Citizens who have criminal information to present.
6) Schedule presentments by said Citizens.
7) Subpoena documents from Government Offices and Officials.
8) Schedule presentment of said Documents to Grand Jury by Grand Jury Attorney General.
9) Have Grand Jury Attorney General present said Documents to Grand Jury.
10) After investigation and deliberation is completed, vote and issue a True Bill (Indictment) or No True Bill.
11) Announce all Indictments to the Press.
12) Serve the Indictment on the Judiciary for the Issuance of Arrest Warrants.

I want Ms. Palin to do well. It has been abhorrent the manner in which she and her family have been drawn and quartered for poor character sport.
Wherever she fixes her gaze, I hope she is strong and resolute, for she has become the target of every marginal in the media that curries favor with the American left.
Ms. Palin needs to stock her quiver with new arrows ... she needs immersion in foreign policy and geo-political history and development.
Her innate strengths, sincerity, love of family and the ability to stand and take it, if accompanied with a political scientist’s acumen, would make her formidable. Ms. Palin needs a loyal and savvy tutor.
If she's game, she has the chops for the victory. She just needs what many women in our nation have not cloaked themselves with historically ... the knowledge of places, events and the strategy that led to those places and events.
Interesting play to be sure.

Sarah Palin is nothing if not honest and her speech was clearly unscripted and from the heart. She said Alaska has spent 2 million dollars on 15 different ethics charges (which have all been cleared up) and she and her staff have had to spend 80% of their time fighting those and not getting anything dome for Alaska. She took on the job as Governor to make a difference and if she can't do it from behind the Governor's desk she will go out as a private Citizen and work in other ways to effect what is right for America because that's what she believes is important, NOT POLITICS AS USUAL. WHAT A NOVEL IDEA!!.
Also, the unjust, biased, evil Media have attempted to crucify her, as only they, with their evil, nefarious minds can do. It just goes to show them for the cockroaches they are.
Sadly a HUGE percentage of Americans have been 'dumbed down' to the point of becoming total, slobbering fools after having suckled at the hind tit of dishonest, self-serving, politicians for so long they can't distinguish right from wrong anymore so they continue to suck up the vile spew from the maggots. But...wait! It's clear that one of the many ethics investigations has caught up with her and has forced her to resign. (My money's on the construction of her house by "friends" who were also bidding on and constructing the Wasilla sports complex.) She's agreed to resign immediately to keep it from coming out, but of course those things always do come out.
Note, too, that she chose to do it in the biggest "trash time" of the year: not only late on a Friday, but the Friday before the Fourth of July, in the middle of a three-day weekend. The news conference was so hastily called that only a few reporters got there in time. Is that the way someone with long-term plans to move up the political ladder would do it?
Of course it's possible it's not a scandal but just an incredibly inept political move, but I think we've seen the last of Caribou Barbie. Her next political office will be Wasilla Dogcatcher. |

Sarah Palin's surprising move is just that, a surprise. Yet those who have long studied this woman's political career knows that Sarah Palin has always played by one set of political rules, her own and it has served her very well thus far.
There are certain facts that one needs to know which have contributed to Sarah Palin's leaving office. The Demoncrats were trying to and were somewhat succeding in crippling Sarah Palin with frivilous ethics charges, all of which were thrown out. This left Sarah (who is not wealthy)with a legal debt of over $600,000 and if she had stayed in power the Demoncrats would have continued this assult to financially cripple her and keep her out the 2012 race. In stepping down the Demoncrats can no longer use this avenue of attack. Financially this will help her because she will no longer be piling up legal debts and now she can earn a lot of money from speaking engagements which she can use to advance her move toward the White House in 2012.
Politically she will be able to spend far more time raising money for her political action committee and in campaigning for GOP candidates at all levels of government in 2010. From here she can build political alliences in every state. She may be hurt a little by her resignation, but not by much and she has the political skills to bounce back. Sarah Palin is now free to build up a national political machine to match the Demoncrats for 2012. She still owns the GOP base and now she has an extra two years to build on this.
Lastly, Sarah Palin seems determined to bring Reagan Conservatism back in the GOP, from which it seriously drifted away from under George Bush. In 2010 she can back true conservatives candidates who will not only share her political conservatism but they will also owe her a favor in the 2012 primaries.
These are some of the pluses in what she has done today.

Come on, you are applying for THE most stressful job in the world. Your argument for being qualified for that job was, "Well, I quit my last job halfway after a bunch of ethics investigations and a lot of national scrutiny that cast aspersions upon me and my family. But I'm willing to take this NEW job where there is going to be even MORE scrutiny and aspersions. Really."
