More on ACORN (and Obama)?

A story is running in The Philadelphia Bulletin, alleging that the New York Times sat on an election-season story about the close ties between Obama and ACORN on the grounds that it would have been a "game-changer" for the election.
It strikes me that this is an entirely appropriate subject for more Congressional investigation, because if some of the allegations are true, there is a good chance that (surprise!) ACORN may have been implicated in violating federal election law.
As the debate continues over the fate of America's newspapers, it's worth asking: If this happened, did the New York Times really live up to what's supposed to be a newspaper's primary function: The reporting of news of public import, without fear or favor?
