Losing Ground in N.C.

New registration is way up in anticipation of the first North Carolina presidential primary to matter in my lifetime:
More than 165,000 previously unregistered voters have signed up since the first of the year. Then there's this (emphasis mine):
Between January and March of this year, more than 30,000 currently registered voters changed their party identification. Over 12,000 of those, about 40%, are previously Republican voters who have moved OUT of the party to register either as Democrats or as unaffiliated voters able to participate in either primary on May 6th. Subtract from that the number of Dems and unaffiliated voters who moved into the GOP, and there’s still a net LOSS of about 6,700 Republican voters in three months. By contrast, the Democratic Party nabbed a net of about 4,000 voters -- previously Republican or unaffiliated -– who moved into the Dem column. And the unaffiliated group, which gained almost 50,000 new voters in the last three months, added an additional 2,700 net from the shuffle. Are some of them Republicans switching to unaffiliated to have some fun with the Hillary/Obama battle? Undoubtedly. Are some of them just-plain disenchanted with the Republican Party? Probably so. There's a pretty strong strain of protectionism in a state that's lost a lot of textile mill jobs over the past 20 years, and Republicans have to walk a fine line on the issue. There are also a lot of those registered Democrats who vote consistently Republican in national elections, but never relinquished their party ID after Reagan wooed them.
Those voters in the middle are easy to miss in polls, but Obama's still up an average of 12.

That more than a few are disgusted that John McCain/Kennedy is the GOP nominee?
North Carolina is being over run with illegal aliens.
McCain keeps saying "Secure the border first". We know that he means amnesty next. The plan is to get the border state Gov's to declare the border secure. Conveniently, they are all on board the cheap labor express. Then his good friend Ted Kennedy will bring back McCain/Kennedy and McCain can provide his good friends across the aisle with their new permanent majority.
I will not vote for amnesty.

|
The RNC has managed to nominate the author of the last amnesty bill. They wanted to make sure that we who oppose amnesty would not have any choice in this election. We do have the option of voting third party or a write in. I intend to exercise that option. The argument that it is cutting off our nose to spite our face does not hold water. If the nose has a cancerous tumor the size of a RINO horn that will kill the patient, the prudent thing to do IS to cut it off.

There has been a large amount of corruption with democrats in the NC general Assembly. One impeached, a few in jail. Governor Sleaz-ly and his democrat predecessor have just about doubled the taxes in the past 10 years.
I can't believe the state GOP can't capitalize on it. *shrugs* |

You're wrong---it absolutely holds water.
That's because whatever policy objections you have with McCain, an Obama Administration would be ten times worse.
In other words, the consequences of Obama winning the election would be that you'd not only have your nose cut off, but also both your legs and an arm. |
|

You have a much better chance of getting McCain/Kennedy to stop supporting amnesty than you do getting me to vote for it. |

--------------- "You have a much better chance of getting McCain/Kennedy to stop supporting amnesty than you do getting me to vote for it." ---------------
In other words, you can't respond to my point.
You know in your heart that the policies of an Obama Administration would be much worse for the nation than the policies of a McCain Administration.
But you're too proud to admit it.
...and that, my friend, is the very definition of cutting off one's nose to spite one's face. :) |

Can't believe how many folks are up with Operation Chaos. |

The Iraq war is the only policy difference I can see. Embrace globull warming, closing Gitmo, and amnesty if you wish, I won't. |

-------------- "OHM Chooses Losing U.S. over Losing Iraq The Iraq war is the only policy difference I can see." --------------
In other words, you still can't respond to my points.
The truth is that there are plenty of policy differences between McCain and Obama---you're just not honest enough to admit them.
But here's what you just admitted; you believe the only policy difference between McCain and Obama is the Iraq war, and given that, you'd STILL rather see Obama rather than McCain in the White House. Therefore, we can conclude from your own comparison that when all other issues are a 'wash,' you choose LOSING the Iraq war over WINNING the Iraq war.
I'm sure you have a lot of swell guns at home, but your arguments sure do lack ammunition. |

I choose not supporting liberals, even GOP ones. |
|
Virginia Patriot,
I knew you wouldn't deny that you're opposed to the Iraq war.
Since you told us a few months ago that you're married to a left wing peace activist, it's not surprising.

You are the master of twisting things in your own head. I supported taking Saddam out, advocated 300,000 troops at the time, long before John McCain said we needed more boots on the ground. I have wanted us to be MORE agressive than we have. We could be much further ahead there if we had not let the situation get out of control.
I don't support liberalism. Globull warming taxes, closing Gitmo, amnesty and most of McCain's agenda IS liberal. Might be marginally less liberal than the Dems, but only marginally. He won't be appointing any judges that will overturn McCain/Feingold.
Closing Gitmo is stupid, not as stupid as importing a permanent majority for the Democrats, but close.
Bottom Line: McCain/Kennedy will not get my support unless he dumps Juan Hernandez and stops supporting amnesty for illegal aliens AND their employers. Then I MIGHT be able to hold my nose tight enough. Work on him. |

So, you think that winning the Iraq war will be accomplished by...conceding foreign policy to President Barack Obama and his merry band of radical left wing appeasers !
You crack me up. Please, sir, be honest about what you write.
In this thread, you have asserted that the "only" policy difference between McCain and Obama is their stance on the Iraq war. Yet given that, you still prefer Obama to win the election over McCain. Thus, what does that infer about your position on the Iraq war ?
And you wrote in another thread last week that a McCain Administration would be worse for the nation than Obama Administration.
Please take responsibility for what you write. :) |

Let's see what happens after the primaries. |
|
brought all this crap on themselves by arrogantly ignoring conservatives, and trying to out "liberal" the liberals.
The likes of BOOSH, McCain and co. and their "new world order" policies, destroying the party.
They deserve what they get and I will be no part of them anymore.
I'll vote "write in" or third party in Nov.
I hope Bob Barr or somebody like him decides to run,....maybe a new Constitution or Federalist party.
Bottom line, conservatives have had enough of the "Republic-rat" party.! |

None of the bunch should be President. I don't want Obama, Clinton, or McCain. They all intend to abandon the rule of law and surrender the country. |
