I think you've got the skeleton of a great stump speech there, buddy....! |

the blogosphere is getting close to shutting down the old "liberal/conservative" club? Looks like our old "leaders" are more wedded to keeping their adversaries alive so as to maintain their own relevance than to further their cause. There is more profit to be made in fighting the war than in winning it. Kind of like Jesse Jackson never acknowledging any progress in the race struggle and John McCain where everything ends up with a new law co-authored by him and some ultra-liberal. It's time to sweep the deck clean and bring in new leadership that actually reflects the will of the voters. |

I think one thing that many Christian voters still don't get is that politics is an entirely DIFFERENT arena than church.
At church, you are surrounded by likeminded folks who agree with you 100%. Evangelicals believe that accepting Christ is a 'guaranteed' absolute outcome of going to heaven unobstructed by any compromise---no Committee hearings, no votes, and no lobbying.
The political arena is completely different, because it is ALL ABOUT splitting differences, compromising, and strategy. In politics, faith does not 'guarantee' a desired outcome.
Many Christian voters don't get that if you don't win the election, you don't get to govern. A nominee must be electable to the general population---and that means COMPROMISING on some (but not all) issues. Many Christian voters would rather go down pridefully with a ship that they agree with 100%, rather than WIN with a candidate with whom they agree with, say, 70% of the time. Of course, the key point here is that when you LOSE, you risk being governed by someone with whom you agree 5% of the time...or even 0% of the time.
Ronald Reagan is famous for saying that someone who agrees with you 70% of the time is your ally---not your enemy. Sadly, many Christian voters see someone they agree with 70% of the time as their enemy.
I did not major in mathematics in college, but even I can figure out that a candidate you agree with 70% of the time is better than Hillary.
And this is Pat Robertson's calculation; that Giuliani is the GOP candidate who has the best chance of beating Hillary in a general election. Robertson hasn't sold out his principles. On the contrary, he prefers to see 70% of his principles enacted in a Giuliani Administration, rather than 5% of his principles being enacted by a Hillary Administration.

....means nothing to me. Why does Mr. Robertson think the American public has to know whom he endorses? The nominee game is still early, anything can happen. Those who come out early in endorsements just may have egg on their faces in the next year by being premature in their choice of candidate. Do research, do reading on the candidates' past, present, and future plans, and lots of praying! But please, "religious" leaders, just be quiet for awhile. There will be time ahead to voice your "opinion." |

Not only is Dan Flynn's description of events correct, but so-called-conservative voters have fallen into the same pandering compromise of their once held principles. Liberals often imitate conservatives in order to influence the outcome. Anybody that would testify to Rudy being a conservative is either a liar or simply stupid! Standing around the rubble of 911 claiming that one is "America's Mayor" does not make a conservative, but the historical record of Guiliani in the political arena has certainly defined him as a LIBERAL! There will be a number of leaders within the christian community that will now step forward and announce that "Robertson's" brain has drifted into a state of insanity. |
