I Finally Watched the 'View' Clip: Rosie vs. Elisabeth

I put off watching it for a day, just because I find Rosie tiresome, but I just watched it, and I have to say congrats to Elisabeth for coming out on the better end of that fight. According to my scorecard, she got mad points for her mention of Rosie's pathetic fight with Donald Trump. I awarded her several more points for turning the "do you understand me, little child-like Elisabeth?" line of argument back on Rosie by telling her to defend her own dark insinuations instead of relying on Elisabeth to defend them for her, you know, "as a friend." And, where exactly does Rosie get off calling Elisabeth a coward? Elisabeth goes to work every day to defend her views on an ostensibly non-political show, usually against three co-hosts and the idiotic studio audience. There is no liberal on TV that faces similar odds day in and day out. Alan Colmes comes closest, but he's trained as a pundit, and he's facing much less asinine and abusive arguments from guests and co-host. Rosie can't manage to keep her composure with three allies and an unusually pleasant adversary in Elisabeth. She would implode if put in Elisabeth's shoes. Rosie's a big, spoiled bully, and her "can you understand me, Elisabeth?" comments made it inappropriate for her to pull the "friend" card long ago. The 9/11 Truthers are making their appearance on the show today, apparently without any rebuttal beyond Elisabeth-- a fact which might make Victor Davis Hanson rethink the theme of his column today. That brings us to the United States' greatest strength: radicalself-critique. We Americans are worrywarts, always believing we're onthe verge of extinction. And so, to "renew," "reinvent" or "save"America, we whip ourselves up about "wars" on poverty, drugs andcancer; space "races;" missile "gaps;" literacy "crusades;" and"campaigns" against litter, waste and smoking. In other words, we nail-biters have always been paranoid that we must changeand improve in order to survive. And thus we usually do - just in time.
We shall see. Update: More "View"-related reason to reckon on our society's extinction, here.
Update: Wait, did President Bush pre-empt the Truthers on purpose?

AWAY! While it is good that Rosie and her supporters have been called on the carpet for her rather bogus talking points, it would be nice to see people begin a serious discussion about getting new blood in Congress. The current Congress is filled with career politicians who don't have the interests of the people in their hearts. It had become only about power, money and power again. That is not how the Founders preferred it. They wanted a citizen legislature not one filled with career politicians. They need to go the way of Rosie...AWAY...back to the private sector. And should they ever want to run for public office again, they need to take a breather and work in the real world (not become a lobbyist or consultant for corporations or interests seeking funds from Capitol Hill. Term Limits for the politicians! They need to become acquainted with the laws that they pass! Term Limits!!!! |

Fat ugly lesbian, words spoken from her own mouth, she finally knows of which she speaks. |

Alright fans of this on-going slug fest.
Fat, Ugly, Lesbian...Google it! |

gay or straight rosie is an ignorant liberal pig |
|
|
Some one needs to have the connection between her brain fixed. Then maybe she would think before she spoke. |

and elisabeth as rude?
The world is crazy. |
|
Rosie- Comedian, failed magazine founder, bit-part actress, loony conspiracy theorist, anti-American
Joy- comedian who I had never heard of before "The View", claims Bush should be impeached because of 2000 election
Barbara Walters- "newswoman" who is most famous for asking softball questions of celebrities before the Oscars
Elisabeth- hot babe not paid to carry on geopolitical discussions
The View is totally unwatchable, but I would watch Elisabeth read names from the phone book. The others? I will studiously avoid anything they ever appear on. |

Elisabeth Hasselback deserves mucho props for standing up to that far-left, intellectually inept gasbag, Rosie O'Donnell. Not only did she challenge O'Donnell on one of her recent anti-war, anti-Bush (and, yes, anti-AMERICAN) distortions, but she refused to back down.
You go, girl! |
|
Why does ELizabeth need to comment on Rosie? Rosie takes care of that every second she is on screen.
When Rosie starts actually inserting some facts in her rants, and starts actually trying to present an argument rather than just yelling over people, perhaps then she can get her questions answered.
But until then, Rosie uses the standard liberal argument tactics. Yell, and try to change the subject to either A: How much of a victim you are or B: Personal attacks on the other person.

I will not defend Elizafreak. I've seen her on other shows, and she is cowardly. I saw her on Hannity & Combs. Obviously, Hannity has a sexual thing for her, as he continually lavishes praise upon her. Still, on H & C, Elizafreak kept flapping her yap about every topic under the sun, but she would not even comment on Rosie. She even had the gaul to say that she did not have an oppinion on her. All this is strange, as Tokyo Rosie is saying that she did not defend her. Isn't being sexually attractive wonderful? Who wants Elizafeak more? Sean or Rosie? |

Came out and called Elizabeth the dumbest person on TV. Now there's a team meant for each other: Rosie O'Donuts and The Donald. There are things I don't want to know but I can't help. No matter where you look, their in your face. Like American Idol. |
|
Uncle Max, The reason that Rosie is so interesting, is that there are a huge number of people that actually think like she does, scary though it may be. Between Joy and her vote for Gore rants and Rosie's left wing blather, Elisabeth finally called her on her wacky statements. It was awesome. Just shows how smart she really is. Good for her! |

Why is the stupid one wearing a shower curtain? |
|
try this mantra
"rosie is a lightweight and I must have better things to do with my time and talents than to watch her and comment on her"
and say it over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over
until
you don't have to any more
you can thank me later |
|
i didn't watch the clip
until a few moments ago I didn't even know there was a clip to watch
to those who still watch and comment on rosie
don't you have better things to do with your time?
Did your parents slave so you could go to college and get a degree and get a job which consists of commenting on rosie o'donnell's arguments?
I repeat; Don't you have better things to do with your time? |

The 650,000 number comes from a study that was widely discredited and was based on an extremely unscientific method, using a sample size far too small. If I remember right it had something to do with asking some Iraqis if they had a relative who had died. They then used this to extrapolate this insane number. But of course facts don't matter here, and Rosie will continue to spew lies, and the idiots in the audience will continue to buy them. Very, very sad thing for the country. |
|
the only weapon Rosie really has, after all, is her big mouth; it's easy to "win" when all you have to do and can do is simply be louder than the other guy.
Maybe someone else here recalls but I thought I heard mention of Elizabeth's hormones being a factor but in a rather patronizing way...well, why not? TOWANDA!!! ;) |
|
with WhatTheCrap?
Where did Rosie pull the 650,000 number from?
And if you read the transcript of the show, leading up to the meltdown, Joy Behar said that President Bush "...withdrew us from the Kyoto Treaty..."
When? How?
The congress NEVER ratified Kyoto. The Clinton Admin. never even submitted it to congress to be ratified.
What is it with these people???
Do facts have NO meaning to them?
And isn't THE VIEW produced by ABC News? No need to have your news division putting facts on the air, eh ABC?

I haven't been watching the View enough to know if this is a new level of spinal fortitude. In past clips I've seen, Hasselbeck does state her case but lets O'Donnel get the last word in. Bravo for her not letting her co-host off the hook for twisting her words and her views this time. It goes to show that pretty and sweet doesn't always mean dumb and weak. |
|
..boy you said it. Could she be in a situation more hostile towards her values than on The View? I don't think really think so.
What just absolutely kills me though is the parroting of the bull-crap Lancet 655,000 statistic.
I guess if you say it enough - it will become true...
I wrote about this concept a while back when a bunch of dopes made a huge tribute to it over here at my alma mater in (the peoples republic of) Eugene.
http://whatthecrap.wordpress.com/2007/01/24/death-tolls-artistic-statements-and-idiosyncrasy/
Once again, 655,000 means about 500 per day, every day - for about 4 years. That means when you hear in the news that "today 30 people killed by ____." Whoops - we missed the other 470...
Not to mention - every time you hear this number it is almost always in a context subtly suggesting, "655,000 have been killed because (or since) America ___________".
Oh -btw, if you check out my post - be sure not to miss the "enlightened" comment (#3) from one of my lib friends from college about how the number is that big because of the mysteriously easy to miss "mass graves"...
Sheesh.

I watched the clip and I found myself hoping that Elisabeth would say that a FRIEND tells you the truth not just what you want to hear or what won't hurt your "feelings". Tokyo Rosie clearly never learned that lesson... nor has she learned the meaning of HYPOCRISY in that she is such a coward she has the comment OFF on her little blog. |
