Reid Doesn't Know Which Bank Failed

Does Harry Reid have any clue what's going on in the markets today? Take a look at part of his floor speech he delivered today in the Senate: “In the past few days, we’ve seen a real meltdown in our financial community. One major investment bank failed. Another is filing for bankruptcy. As we know, Bear Stearns was propped up because of government money. Lehman Brothers is being purchased by another bank. It’s hard to comprehend that Bear Stearns is no longer in existence and Lehman Brothers is, in effect gone. The name may be saved, but that would be all." Those watching this stuff know that Lehman collapsed. No one purchased it, it's going into bankruptcy. Merrill Lynch is being bought by Bank of America. And, Bear Stearns is not being "propped up." It's gone because JP Morgan bought it, partially because the government gave JP a multi-billion loan to do it. So, if anybody is being "propped" it's JP.
As Majority Leader Reid is the most powerful policy maker in the Senate. Hopefully, he gets his facts straight soon.

Instead of criticizing all the time, why don't you talk about solutions to our economic mess? |
|
|
That would be interesting |

"Any and every large corp is TOO IMPORTANT TO FAIL. I agree with my good friends on the left that we should always use taxpayer money to keep them in business. I love cheap, Mexican, labor." |
|
Why don't we just turn to you to prop up these financial institutions that don't seem to understand how to run their own businesses.
I don't want my money used.
The problem with these guys running these banks is that, although they are losing money, they continue to operate the same way.
I heard this morning that up to this weekend Lehman Brothers just assumed that no matter how they ran their business the government would bail them out.
Sorry! |

Stronger institutions will rise from the rubble. We should not have to pay for their bad judgement. |
|
That I am willing to put my hard earned money toward these corporations blatant irresponsibility.
What's the old saying? "You break it, you bought it." They're all adults. You got yourself into this mess, dig your own way out. |

....that little dustup in Iraq...? We won! |

Alive and well on Townhall. |

they could combine their brains and fill a thimble. Leaders and powerful, can you really believe they are referring to these two dummies. |

"The Reformer" agrees, again, with the Left. Your tax money at work. |
|
Do you know what socialism is?? Maybe you need to go back to 11th grade world history my dear because your buddy Barry has a lot in common with Karl Marx!!! Income redistribution, more government, government running our healthcare and our education, the wonderful Fairness Doctrine...the list goes on...It completely throws out our Constitution and takes away our freedom to run things as citizens the way it was intended.
I have a better idea. Instead of us electing Obama and becoming a Socialist nation, let's just go back to feudalism! |
|
Hasn't been Harry's strong suit in the past, can't see it happening in the future.
"Either you are with us or you are with the terrorists. From this day forward any nation that continues to harbor or support terrorism will be regarded by the United States as a hostile regime."
The Real Bush Doctrine |
|
|
Appears to me that Harry is "out of touch"! |
|
|
Just for the record, Palin was correct in her response to what the "Bush Doctrine" is. She was citing the latest known part of it. |
|
Harry Reid policy maker and doesnt know whats going on, doesnt know whos being bought, and whos going in bankruptcy, no wonder why we are in serious trouble, look at our leaders, Reid and Polsi just look at their performance, and then you wonder why things are the way they are. |
