Supreme Court Rules in Favor of Gun Owners
Posted by: Townhall.com Staff at 12:04 PM
Today, the Supreme Court overturned the D.C. gun ban in an unprecedented case.  In the May issue of Townhall Magazine, David Kopel, research director at the Independence Institute, discussed the possible repercussions of the Supreme Court's landmark decision.  In support of the Second Amendment, Kopel talked about several benefits of overturning of the gun ban.

A Second Amendment victory in District of Columbia v. Heller would have two important effects: First, it would save the lives of D.C. residents.  Second, it would promote gun-rights consciousness in the U.S. - school textbook publishers will no longer be able to pretend the Second Amendment pertains only to the National Guard and students will learn about the Second Amendment as an ordinary right, along with the rest of the Bill of Rights.

Conservatives should be hopeful that Kopel's predictions will ring true in light of this constitutional decision.  D.C. residents can now enjoy their full set of rights thanks to the 5-4 ruling upholding the Second Amendment.

Is TH Mag going to report this?
kfyi.com/pages/local_news.html?feed=118695&article=3875223

The Mexican Army is staging armed home invasions to assassinate and kidnap people in McCain's own home town! This is a very big deal and my friends in Phoenix know nothing about it. Local newspapers in France didn't report the Nazi invasion either.

Did it feel good to you?
Team Obama suddenly figured out that Barack is way on the wrong side of this issue: Oooppps.

Before the ruling was issued this morning, the Obama campaign, disavowed its "inartful" statement last year that "Obama believes the D.C. handgun law is constitutional."
http://www.weeklystandard.com/weblogs/TWSFP/2008/06/second_ amendment_victory_2.asp

Obama supporters see that their candidate may have just hurt himself bad. You know, like when someone cuts their hand off with a band saw and doesn't recogize it right away.

Don't worry, Bob Barr will protect you: Oh wait, Bob Barr flatly said he will NOT build a border fence. Damn. I guess he won't protect you.

Maybe Obama will? He is busy flip flopping on his past support for the D.C. gun ban. He is even more liberal on illegal immigration than McCain. Guess you are not going to get a lot of help there. Obama will also work hard to change that 5-4 dynamic with the Court.

But isn't the best initial defense to Mexican bandits gun ownership? Not like this kind of thing with Mexican banditry has not happened before. Border living Americans shot first and then the U.S. Calvary came later.

That was very good. Bravo.
Dread writes: Thursday, June, 26, 2008 1:20 PM
Wow
The court continues to actually protect the Constitution.

I must admit, though, being mildly surprised that the decision was 5-4.

Hurray! The whole gang is here!
Let the name-calling begin!

So, Joe
Barr has done as much as McCain to protect us?
Virginia Patriot writes: Thursday, June, 26, 2008 1:33 PM
Joe
Years ago we had enough will to send Pershing into Mexico after Pancho Villa. Eisenhower had Operation Notdryback (can't use the actual title on TH) and deported thousands while many more decided to leave on their own. Now people like you do not even have the will to enforce our own laws.
If anyone does shoot illegal aliens, you would be one of the first screaming for their scalp, so don't argue that we take matters in our own hands, you don't mean it.
Joe writes: Thursday, June, 26, 2008 2:03 PM
Virginia Patriot, Excuse me?
Now people like you do not even have the will to enforce our own laws.

I am all for enforcing our own laws. I disagree with McCain on some of his positions regarding illegals. I am not for shooting illegal immigrants for being illegal immigrants. You are not suggesting we do that?

I am all for shooting criminals in the act when they invade a private home (be they citizens or not). I am for individuals having to right to shoot anyone who enters their home in an illegal or unreasonable manner (including over zealous law enforcement who do so on a no-knock basis by mistake). I am all for American citizens having the right to shoot Mexican bandits, army, or policy doing home invasions on U.S. soil. I am all for executing aggregious child rapists, be they citizens or not.

You, Pasadena Phil, and others do not have the will to resist the Obama campaign. You will do your protest vote for Bob Barr, and President Obama will get elected and appoint justices and judges who are not originalists, who think the constitution is a living breathing plastic entity they can mold into any shape they want, and who will degrade and erode all your individual rights.
Joe writes: Thursday, June, 26, 2008 2:12 PM
Here's the article Pasadena Phil posted:
"Police reports show that three men arrested in a Phoenix home invasion and homicide Monday may have been active members of the Mexican Army.
While on the J.D. Hayworth show, Phoenix Law Enforcement Association President Mark Spencer said that the men involved were hired by drug cartels to perform home invasions and assassinations.
The Monday morning incident at 8329 W. Cypress St. resulted in the death of the homeowner. Between 50 and 100 rounds were fired at the house.
Spencer said a police officer told him that one of the men captured said they were completely prepared to ambush Phoenix police, but ran out of ammunition.
He added that all were all dressed in military tactical gear and were armed with AR-15 assault rifles. Three other men involved in the invasion escaped.
Click Here to listen to Mark Spencer's entire interview on the J.D. Hayworth show.
However, Phoenix Police have not confirmed the men were Mexican Army members.
Sgt. Joel Tranter said one suspect revealed that he had "prior military training," but "no credible evidence" that any of them were active in the military."

Let's assume these thugs were regular Mexican Army. I am all for indivudual citizens having the right to shoot them. I would hope law enforcement would do the same. This is not exactly the Mexican Army invading the U.S., but it is classic Mexican banditry and should be deat with as we have always done in the past.

Heck, while we are at it, lets start the Mexican War back up again and take the Mexican oil fields and Baja California.

How 'bout them Cowboys....?!

Does everything story here on TH have to be about fear-mongering and race-baiting? Why can't RINO-Central write about the wonderfulness of their candidate? That's the problem.

It's like catching frogs, distract the frog with one hand but catch him with the other. RINOs are like frogs, always watching the wrong hand. We conservatives are trying to draw attention to the "other" hand. There is a convention coming up. Let's fix the problem. McCain is a sure loser in November and is making it impossible for candidates down ticket.

Not a fan. But I think they'll probably make the playoffs and lose first round.

I like the Giants, but I think they'll probably do the same.

Go Falcons!
I decided to abandon the Bills and go with a real winner! haha.

Figured I'd get in on the bottom floor...

There you go again VA!
The never ending crying saga of not voting for amnesty. We get it, okay! You sing one tune and one only, but go ahead and vote or not vote! At this point very few of us care. Just a reminder though, with oblama you're going to get amnsety and a whole lot more! But hey, you still have your principles!

How about them Cowboys?
Dread you are probably right about the Cowboys and the Giants, but I would give them both to the second round in the playoffs.

It is going to be interesting how the Pats handle losing the Superbowl. Do they get fired up and try to repeat their almost no loss season?

I think they'll do well again. I don't see them winning it all, or if they do, I don't see them going undefeated.

I would put the Giants farther, because they're young for the most part and were pretty solid last year. But Strahan brings a lot to the defense and if he sticks to his decision to retire, their pass rush will suffer unless someone steps up to fill that void. And Manning... you never know what kind of a day he'll be having.
