Obama "Warm-up" Calls McCain "Warmonger"

While warming-up the crowd for Barack Obama at a $100-a-head Democratic fundraiser in Grand Forks, ND, yesterday, radio host Ed Schultz referred to John McCain as a "warmonger." Obama, who arrived after the remarks were made, went on to deliver his remarks -- without rebuking those outrageous comments.
While Barack Obama claims to want to offer a new "brand" of politics, he once again demonstrates his willingness to go along with the same old partisan attacks. Conversely, John McCain was wise to condemn remarks made by another radio host in Ohio, a while back (in both cases, the candidates were not present when the remarks were made). Clearly, McCain is the one who has embraced a new kind of politics that eschews negative attacks.
Having live in North Dakota, allow me to offer a few side notes to this story ...
First, Grand Forks is the most liberal part of the state.
Second, Ed Schultz is quite an interesting character. He started off as a mini-Rush Limbaugh conservative, broadcasting in Fargo, but became a liberal (just in time to land a national radio show). Though his new wife, no doubt, helped bring about this transformation, he is also rumored to have been enticed by the state's Democratic delegation (North Dakota's entire federal delegation are Democrats). Whatever they offered him, there is no doubt his career has taken off since becoming a liberal. He is often on MSNBC, despite the fact that his radio show isn't truly national (in many cities, you cannot find him on the dial). "Big Eddie," as he is known in the state, has been in a few bar scrapes, and is also rumored to have once intentionally (or accidentally, depending on the story) shot his own dog while hunting.
Update: From a Fox embed:
After numerous inquiries from Obama’s traveling press, the Obama campaign eventually responded with a comment. “John McCain is not a warmonger and should not be described as such. He’s a supporter of a war that Senator Obama believes should have never been authorized and never been waged,” traveling press secretary Jen Psaki said in a written statement. The campaign also pointed out that Obama did not hear the comment and stressed that Schultz is not an Obama surrogate.
Update:
... Sen. Obama was on Ed Schultz's radio show on this past week: Wednesday, April 2, 2008. ... The online poll on Ed Schultz’s asks question, “Is Sen. John McCain a warmonger?”

"Clearly, McCain is the one who has embraced a new kind of politics that eschews negative attacks."
All McCain has eschewed is attacks against LIBERALS! He has no qualms against attacking conservatives and his own party. The intellectual dishonesty here is atrocious. That is why Townhall has zero influence on people who understand the issues. You have to stand for more than an empty uniform. Rah! Rah! Sis-boom-bah! If our guy loses, it's the end of the world! It is so hard to take either party seriously anymore. |

Socialism a new brand of politics, let alone change we can believe in? |

McCain is the only one who rebukes his supporters.

I recall Schultz appearing on some cable news program with Dennis Prager as a fellow guest, and Schultz repeatedly hurled insults at Prager, who didn't give them back in turn. Schultz is another partisan who doesn't follow the basic tenets of civilized debate, and is only famous because of his niche standing as a Midwestern liberal talk show host. |

I think the story is that he was drunk and ran over his dog with his vehicle. Regardless, the guy is a liberal loser...not unlike Obama or McCain. |

I most certainly agree. There isn't a decent candiate out there that is worth my vote. Not one. I guess whoever puts his left hand on the Koran and recites the pledege to "protect and defend the Constitution of the United States of America" is now going to be labeled a "warmonger". Absolutley immature and insane rhetoric. When are the serious people going to start standing up for what they really believe in? I also wonder when BHO gets his first "real" National Security Briefing, will he sh-t his pants and call for mommy? McCain is a liberal in GOP skin. He's an idiot. And HRC......need I say anything else here?
Idiots. |

What is really frustrating about these political blogs, Dem and Rep, liberal and "conservative", is the general disregard for truth. Political discussion has been reduced to picking a uniform and then engaging in the shrill and childish arguments on how the very survival of the world hinges on [insert candidate's name here] being elected. People will "hold their noses" to vote for one of three candidates who are essentially identical on substance. What is left to discuss? Does anyone here crack a book once in a while? If so, do they actually READ it? How many times have we read comments citing "The Looming Tower" to substantiate the Clinton admin's laxity on terrorism? Did these people read the part on how the Bush admin practically gutted the anti-terrorism effort in 2001? If we are going to elect McCain on his anti-terrorism "credentials", we are buying into a myth. There is no evidence that the Republicans are any more serious about the GWOT. It's all about bringing about a one-world fantasy where nations lose their sovereignties to an unelected world governing mechanism that serves corporate interests who view countries merely as markets to be exploited without any other consideration other than profit. McCain has more lobbyists on his campaign than Hillary and Obama combined and have we forgotten that he is the co-architect of amnesty with Townhall's favorite "friend of McCain", Ted Kennedy? Let's have an intelligent and rational discussion, just for once. |
