Flipping Hillary the Bird?

I can scarcely believe that a candidate who's committed to "changing the tone" of the debate in this country would give his opponent "the finger." And from what I've known of Barack personally, I'm skeptical that he actually did it -- it's not his style; he's got too much respect for himself -- and too elevated a sense of his own dignity -- if not for her. There are plenty of reasons I object to Barack's very-left politics and policies, but I have never witnessed him acting like a jerk (the category into which this behavior would fall).
But some at the LA Times seem to think that Barack employed what it delicately terms "a one-fingered gesture" when referring to Senator Clinton (video here).
If this was just an inadvertent gesture, then this is, bar none, likely to be the silliest discussion of the season. But if a would-be president is actually making covert obscene gestures at his competitor, it's a travesty.
If I were part of Barack Obama's team, I'd get out there fast and make sure, seriously, that everyone knew this was completely accidental -- no winky-winky cheeky denial, or high-minded denunciations of the subject of the coverage. Why? Because this sort of behavior is unbecoming anyone who aspires to become the leader of the free world, and Barack is well-advised not to be associated with it in any way, shape or form.
What's more, if Democrats are going to throw rocks at John McCain's age, it's probably best if their own candidate doesn't seem to be living in the glass house of ridiculously juvenile behavior.
So what do you think when you see the video? Accidental, freudian, or neither?

Excuse away, Libs, but his grin (which in polite company is called the-cat-ate-the-canary), the grins of those behind him, the hoots and hollers of the crowd, all say it was exactly what he did.
Of course liberal adolescents (I know, repetitive) will change the subject, call names, whine, all the things adolescents do (and are doing above)... but to deny that he was flipping off Clinton is like saying Al Gore is intelligent, or Djimmi Khadr is pro-American, or Europeans understand they are history, or any amount of useless liberal cant (I know; repetitive -again) - sorry, there're just no facts behind you.
Face it, DNC. You have put yourselves in the position of having non-democratic supers turn down the first African American actually with a chance because he took the media by storm, but lacked any seriousness whatsoever - -and now everone is finding this out.
The guy is a complete, ignorant, clueless idiot. And now we can add that he is a pathetic boor, as well.
With his sense of entitlement so strong that he can revert to High School gymn class behavior, the DNC better wakeup and get serious. How they will with Blacks abandoning their party will be interestng to watch. |

I am stunned after reading all the excuses for Obama's "unmistakeable bird flip". Even his body language gives him away, not to mention the reaction of the crowd. But, there is a more scientific way of making a more educated decision. Just go find as much video of Obama that you can stomach and see if he has ever scratched like that before, and under what circumstances. I agree with Carol Liebau, above, when she states "If this was just an inadvertent gesture, then this is, bar none, likely to be the silliest discussion of the season. But if a would-be president is actually making covert obscene gestures at his competitor, it's a travesty." and we need to findout which is true for the sake of our country.

Find a video that shows how he smirks when his "followers" begin to hoot. He looks like a 10 year old punk a$$ kid up there. Real presidential. |

He was giving her the finger as a "gesture of love." C'mon, the Queen is going to jump at this too. Everybody forgets that 6 months ago Queen Hillary complained that Hussein aspired to be president when he was 8 years old, and he has been working for that goal since. That dream was unacceptble with her since she believes that she has the right to the "throne" after sleeping in Slick's bed for umpteen years. It seems she was lacking in that role since Slick had to go out to find someone who was sexually compatable with. That whole scenario baffles me. He marries her because she was the best sex partner he had, nd then went off the reservation to seek others who provided the services he desired. Further, according to Andrew Young he had more black women than Hussein. This public announcement from a former Mayor of Atlnta, Ambassador to the UN. The Clintons are surely a disgrace to all Americans. |

I'd like someone to provide a description of the audience--young, old, college town, what?
The reaction from the audience seemed to suggest he was playing up to them. I don't enjoy gotcha politics (and I don't think the recent debate was so except it made no sense to have Georgie S. doing the questioning), but it tends to demonstrate Obama's arrogance. The shoulder brushing came shortly before, during, or after this appearance.
He's intelligent, but he still seems a little childish in moments. His whining lately has been juvenile. In this case, I suspect he must have picked up something in all those year of being a community activist. |

I'm going say it was an accident. He didn't give any indication that it was intentional. He started to smile afterwards but only because the crowd noticed it and was making noise about it. He probably thought he had moved them with his transcendent words. |

How pathetic our national discourse has become when a scratch becomes one of the top news issues of the day. Here is the "finger" from another angle:

Now maybe giving someone the bird with 2 fingers is an insult in Slovenia or some other country, but can we please drop this inane issue? |
|
|
is this his "new" style of politics? |
|
|
You can here a reaction from the audience in front of him when he did it. You can hear a low roar of something, not sure if it was disapproval or gasps or what. Then watch the audience behind him who obviously didn't see it. They seem as though they don't know what the fuss is about. Obviously it wasn't the words he was using. Maybe Obama just forgot or didn't know the universal "scratching with the middle finger" sign. Something he obviously missed out on while at Harvard. |

BO was trying to attract voters... |
|
|
Carol: Go with your initial instincts. I've actually noticed him using his middle finger to scratch before. Some people do it, most don't. |
|
I can't believe how puerile Barry is. No wonder he whines about the tenor of the questions asked of him-- they reveal his true character. FWIW and as an aside, McCain is a piece of crap. Ain't no use to trying to put a 'shine on a sneaker. |
|
|
Maybe he was flipping off the VP! |
|
|
I do believe the operative phrase is "plausable deniability". |
|
Because I'm getting pretty tired of VP inserting his anti-Hispanic paranoia into every subject line... let's get back to the subject.
I'm not sure what to make of this video. It looks casual enough, but normally you don't scratch yourself with the middle finger, you use your index finger. The audience reaction seemed to indicate that they interpretted the gesture as what it appeared to be. I think it might be innocent, however.
Or maybe the stress of the campaign is getting to Obama. |

Virginia Patriot,
Do you wash your hands 100 times a day, too ? ...and spend half an hour checking again and again that the door is locked before you go to bed ? Ha, ha, ha.
McCain is still much better than Obama, on a variety of important issues. But you're one of those Orwellian practitioners of "moral equivalence." |
|
|
Yeah, it's great that we can get all the big government liberalism without the D label. |
|
You may be happy to vote for carbon taxes, closing Gitmo and giving terrorists U.S. court trials at taxpayer expense, amnesty for illegal aliens, and all the rest of McCain's liberal agenda. All the while hanging your hopes on a Souter-like nomination to the Supreme Court.
I'm not. |
|
The people at the speech certainly thought he was flipping her the bird ...
I'm not sure, maybe the actual people at the speech have the best perspective, maybe not ...
But if I had to bet, I'd go with the folks that were there ... |
|
Virginia Patriot,
As NeoConScum suggested the other day, you need to remember to take your medication for obsessive-compulsive disorder.
One of the Townhall bloggers could write a benign post about attending their grandmother's birthday party, and you'd still probably respond by writing a non-sequitir rant about your singular obsession with McCain & immigration.

Juan Hernandez in his campaign is a giant middle finger to those who want the laws enforced and the border secured. |
