Strange Days
Posted by: John Campbell at 2:24 PM

Last night, on national television, Warren Buffett made the extraordinary announcement that he would like to pay more taxes. According to Mr. Buffett, he currently pays a 17.7% payroll and income tax and claims his situation proves that our tax system favors the rich. Unfortunately, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce had facts to counter that theory, showing that the top 1% of U.S. earners account for 39% of the tax revenue.

Now, this isn’t the first time we’ve heard wealthy entrepreneurs and celebrities volunteer for higher taxes. You may remember prominent celebrities making comments in the past advocating that those with means should be able to pay more taxes per year. Regrettably, as of yet, these altruistic individuals haven’t been able to back these grand intentions up.

Well, I have good news.

I will be introducing legislation whimsically titled the “Tax Me More” Act. This bill is very simple. It would allow anyone who wants to pay higher taxes to add the desired amount (no limits!) they would like to pay to their annual tax form. Under the “Tax Me More” Act, Warren Buffett and his friends will have the unique opportunity to pay as much tax as they want without forcing anyone else to continue to feed the beast.

I believe it is high time we allow those individuals that think higher taxes are the answer to America’s problems to put their money where their mouth is.

REMEMBER THE ALAMO
THIS IS PART OF THE PROBLEM:

REMEMBER THE ALAMO:
BECAUSE WASHINGTON HAS FORGOTTEN

BY LISA RICHARDS
OCTOBER 30, 2007

Mexico has officially invaded the U.S. on a political scale. The Mexican Army has crossed U.S. borders with machine guns they use to fire at U.S. Border Guards attempting to prevent illegal aliens and drug smugglers from entering U.S. borders. Worse; the Mexican Army aids and protects illegals, drug smugglers, and human traffickers crossing the borders, and Washington knows.

This violation of Mexico upon the U.S. is an all out military invasion with enough evidence for the Bush Administration and Washington to call up the National Guard, place them on the borders with orders to shoot to kill every Mexican uniform, drug and human trafficker U.S. troops find invading. There is enough evidence for the U.S. military to go in and help Border Patrol Agents round up every illegal crossing and return them back to Mexico.

Mexico’s military assault on the U.S. has murdered U.S. Border Guards preventing drug trafficking. What does this say about Mexico’s attitude toward the United States: they hate Americans and have no respect for the U.S as a sovereign nation. And no one is stopping them.

The Mexican Military invasion is nothing new. It did not happen this week and suddenly find its way to my desk-top. Republican Presidential Candidate Tom Tancredo of Colorado has been battling the problem for years with no help from Washington. And he’s not the only American crying fowl while begging Washington to stop Mexico’s assault on the U.S. The Border Patrol also has been begging Washington to order up troops to the border to fight a war against Mexico.

Perhaps he'll speak s-l-o-w-l-y
Obviously, John, someone will have to point out to you the nuance behind Buffett's pronouncement since you appear a little thick. It would seem Mr. Buffett is saying that he makes quite enough as a billionare, and that actually paying his fair share of the tax burden - which he currently doesn't - would not hurt him one iota. He would STILL be very rich, see, and so would his fellow billionares. He also suggests that being filthy rich does not equate to being deservedly so - as though hard work always leads to billionare status, or that being a billionare is only attainable through hard work. (Think Robber Baron, John. Think Paris Hilton. THINK. I'm begging you)

Unlike the robber barons who payrolled Bush's campaigns, Buffett has integrity. He knows that as a billionare in Bush's tax cuts for the wealthy environment, he actually gets to hang on to alot - a LOT - more, relatively speaking, than any other American income bracket.
