Governing From Guilt, Not Greatness, And MSM's Fatal Attraction For Obama

This article from Monday's Honolulu Star Bulletin is a keeper in that it reports Obama's commitment to reparations in the course of a general display of a leftist's understanding of history:
"There's no doubt that when it comes to our treatment of Native Americans as well as other persons of color in this country, we've got some very sad and difficult things to account for," Obama told hundreds of attendees of UNITY '08, a convention of four minority journalism associations....
"I personally would want to see our tragic history, or the tragic elements of our history, acknowledged," the Democratic presidential hopeful said.
"I consistently believe that when it comes to whether it's Native Americans or African-American issues or reparations, the most important thing for the U.S. government to do is not just offer words, but offer deeds."
The other noteworthy aspect of the report is its candid coverage of MSM's embrace of the Dalibama:
When Obama walked on stage at the McCormick Center, many journalists in the audience leapt to their feet and applauded enthusiastically after being told not to do so. During a two-minute break halfway through the event, which was broadcast live on CNN, journalists ran to the stage to snap photos of Obama.
Bravo to the honest journalists willing to display their Obama-love openly. "Being told not to do so" is the great give-away. The grey beards know they aren't supposed to be cheering the hardest left major party presidential candidate in history, but, hey, reporters and editors have been waiting a long time for someone as far left as they are to run for the presidency.
Obama's understanding of American history --his need to deplore trumps any instinct to elevate and celebrate every time-- frames the choice between McCain and Obama.
A McCain presidency would be grounded on the firm conviction of American greatness and exceptionalism, as well as the uniqueness of the American mission in the world.
Obama's would be built on the "mature" understanding of America's many past sins, its enormous greed and grasping, its unfair use of vast quantities of resources and its need to respect world opinion and world institutions even when those opinions and institutions are at cross-purposes with American national interests. Is American greatness the engine of the world, or American guilt an explanation for it?
Obama is rightly getting hammered for skipping a meeting with wounded American warriors in German --the WaPo tries to give Obama some cover, but the only fact that matters is that Obama committed to going and then he didn't go-- but the real story of the past ten days is his full unveiling as Europe's candidate for the presidency, with an attitude and a platform indistinguishable from the standard critique America has been receiving for fifty years from the people it rescued sixty years ago.
The rapidly spreading understanding of Obama as an arrogant elitist with an enormous sense of entitlement combined with an awesome contempt for America as it has been in the post World War II era accounts for the air escaping from the Obama boomlet. Tromping through Europe to the wild applause of the anti-America left is a big flare for most voters. "Who is this guy, and why isn't he lecturing Europe on its gratitude gap?"
The risky nature of a vote for Obama became more palpable last week, and Monday's pda for him from the MSM, minority journalists division, reminds us that we haven't been given the whole story on Obama, that the Manhattan-Beltway media elite is blocking for him in extraordinary ways.

It doesn't take much education to understand exactly where our country has gone wrong. It started as soon as courts decided that groups have rights.
Our country was founded on individual rights and liberties, not on group rights. When we get back to that idea, and stop proving nonexistent "rights" to groups of people, we will begin to get our country back on track.
Reparations are an example of a group right. By identifying with a group that was wronged in the past, some individuals feel that they deserve payment for the wrongs done to others in their group. This is the silliest concept in our country's great history.
Black people don't have rights (neither do white people). A black person does. If a black person in our culture is wronged, he deserves just compensation. He doesn't deserve compensation for a wrong done to some other black person. |
|
1. Reparations as an important issue for Obama shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone. Obama didn't attend Wright's Grievance Sunday Sermons for 20 years for nothing.
John Conyers has been pushing legislation and bringing his bill up since 1989. See H.R. 40. http://www.johnconyers.com/issues/reparations
2. Some months ago there was a report that Cornel West was luke warm to Obama. West didn't see the passion he wanted from Obama on West's issues including reparations. They reportedly talked privately and West came out for Obama.
3. Adding American Indians to the list could be just the beginning. How about the Chinese for the way they were treated building the railroad. My vote will be green and is for the "NINA" -- No Irish Need Apply. [Just doing my part to contribute to diversity.]
4. Guess folks didn't realize that "Yes We Can" really means Yes, we can spend my 8 years settling up for all past greivances, however remote to those living today.
5. We are fortunate we have no pressing problems that need to be dealt with during the next 4 years and can take a holiday to stroll through history.

the biggest good deed of all. |
|
"We are fortunate we have no pressing problems that need to be dealt with during the next 4 years and can take a holiday to stroll through history."
Doesn't matter if we do, because if Democrats get elected, they have no earthly idea how to deal with any of the issues facing this country.
Obama is a rube and a bumpkin. We might as well ask an Irish Setter to do long division, as put this guy into the White House. |

Fed extend emergence loan (bailout) program for non-bank Wall Street firms. Companies can swap their bad loans for treasuries (aka dumping garbage on taxpayers).

Meanwhile, Bush signs banking bailout bill in private
http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0708/12166.html
Yeah, everything would be fine if us whiners would just stop talking ourselves into a bad economy. This is NOT a good thing of "free" markets. Who are they "free" for? Certainly not the taxpayer.
|
|
Simple question:
What do you believe is the role of the Federal Government? |
|
Of Native Americans and Blacks in America? Boy, that is the first time I ever heard that.
We have made enormous strides over the last few decades in eliminating racism. Of course it still exists, but more as a historic echo than a force of active oppression. Our primary hurdle now is defeating social trends such as teenage out of wedlock births, fatherless homes, drug and alchohol abuse, and poor education in certain sectors that helps make poverty endemic. Sure there are terrible problems in many Native American and Black communities. But anyone who has seem the meth epidemic in rural white America can tell you that is equally destructive. If you look at it, it is not racial as much as class and geographical based. |
|
Governing From Guilt, Not Greatness, And MSM's Fatal Attraction For Obama
I think the title of this piece describs perfectly Obama's candidacy.
Obama's European trip, his comments to the minority reporters, his statement to the congressional democrats that he is the new symbol of America, all these things must open eyes in America and result in a reassessment of this man.
A reassessment, or perhaps a new assessment by normal people not yet tuned in to political nonsense.
The biased American media either does not hear the akward and sour notes of Obama's recent statements or the media hears the sourness and decides not to report on it.
Slowly the momentum turns. Obama's own actions and statements act to distance the man from the great American center. Americans love America, not despise it. Americans are proud of America, not shamefull. Americans are thankfull to be Americans, not regretfull. America need not apologize or explain itself to Europeans.

That is what we are doing by not enforcing our laws and securing our borders. Citizens of other countries illegally in our country should not be added to the grievance groups, but that's Obama and McCain's plan. |
|
My grandfather was held in a slave labor camp for 4 years working in a coal mine. He was tortured, beaten and shot several times during his confinement. Will Obama make sure the Government of Japan pays up ? (He was a POW in Japan, a survivor of Corregidor) I saw the scars, the broken fingers and watched my grandfather die of the lung disease he contracted in those mines. He never once expressed bitterness or anger towards the Japanese. I don't want a check and I will not pay one dime of reparations to anyone for something that neither I nor my ancestors had anything to do with. A nation of whiners indeed ... f them ...
|
|
[A McCain presidency would be grounded on the firm conviction of American greatness and exceptionalism, as well as the uniqueness of the American mission in the world.]
This is an extremely liberal expansive view of American government.
Just because your goals are oriented abroad and not domestically doesn't make it any more conservative.
Conservatives are skeptical of government power, and possess some recognition of the limitations of any government to 'change the world'.
|

Britney and obambi, together, in the latest McCain Ad, is a HomeRun, both symbols of failed popular culture, both immature, and both equally, feminine.

That's rich. Barack's perspective and humanity does not come from guilt. And Republican self-satisfaction does not come from greatness.
Best of all, this is the moment when Americans--if not the dead-enders on the Republican right--will be able to see past that false dichotomy for the flimflam that it is. Just because a guy does not feel guilty does not mean he is great. Americans understand that, even if Republicans don't.. |
|
|
People are now actively voting to commit national suicide. If any one of the 'ideas' talked about in that speech were implemented it would cost trillions and need to be enforced by implementing a police state with a racially-tiered justice system. But the Official Media is backing this clown and the confused electorate stands ready to hand leak-proof legislative majorities to his associates. We are living in an effective One-Party state as the 'other' party can only offer a confused old man, who disagrees with Obama on very little, and a gaggle of legislative candidates like the excreble Ted Stevens. |

Obamego is going down hard.
---
The trend from 1988 - 2004 shows that the GOP candidate tends to under-poll in the summer--with the exception, as you can see below, of the 2000 campaign. In each of the other four years, the Republican candidate had been polling significantly behind the Democrat at this point in the race. Each of those times, however, the Republican improved his position, gaining an average of 15 points relative to the Democrat.

Not quite.
What we should fear, apparently, is the behavior of media types when their candidate goes down in flames.
At least they pretended, with Kerry. I guess that he's a Kenyan mohammedan northern liberal rather than an American gnostic nothern liberal means that they can be fully open about their partisanship for Barak Hussein Obama.
We may get a two-fer in November. The thrashing (yet again) of a horrid democrat candidate, which is certain, and the public meltdown of a huge portion of the media.
Pull up a chair, it's gonna be good!

Yes, it is national suicide to refuse to enforce your own laws and secure your own borders.
The primary responsibility of the U.S. government is to protect the territorial integrity and people of this country. They have completely abdicated this responsibility. Both parties have been complicit in this. We are being told it is not possible to control our borders, enforce our laws, and thereby control our destiny as a nation. Hogwash. We are being sold out by corporations intent on importing workers for jobs that can't be exported with the taxpayers paying the true costs, financial and human. If we act like sheep and don't stop the inundation across our borders, we will lose our country without a bleat.
You simply CANNOT have national security if you will not defend your own borders or enforce your own laws. Foreign nationals numbering in the thousands are entering our country at will daily. John McCain has done and will do NOTHING to stop it. Don't believe me? Ask Juan Hernandez! |
|
with the American voters. He needs to explain his national security force that should be funded as well as the U.S. Military. He also needs to explain exactly what reparations the American taxpayer should provide to aboriginal Americans and Americans of Negro descent. |
|
...between McCain supporters and Obama's. Pubs are grown-ups who live in the real world. We are well aware of Mack's strengths and weaknesses. We are resigned to having a real human being, albeit flawed, in the White House.
Libs are starry-eyed, twitterpated 13-year-old girls with thrills running up their legs, fainting in the streets over Obama. No clear-eyed adults need apply.
The fact that libs seem unable to see Obama's frightening flaws (arrogantly inexperienced, decidedly marxist, terrifyingly ignorant) deeply concerns clear thinking people.
More and more I am beginning to believe there is something psycho about Obama. I don't say this as a gratuitous slam against a political opponent. I really think there is a screw loose with Barack. |
|
[Libs are starry-eyed, twitterpated 13-year-old girls with thrills running up their legs, fainting in the streets over Obama. No clear-eyed adults need apply.]
You should read more liberal blogs then. The three I periodically check on have ripped into Obama repeatedly when he's done something they disagree with.
And one, specifically criticized and used the blind mindset (comparing it to the undying Bush love of some cons) you cite to justify his right to voice his displeasure. |
|
He's been living for four decades off of minority set-asides, incentives and quotas purportedly meant for actual American blacks.
Of course he's going to favor racialist favoritism. It's the secret of his success.

On Townhall, most of us are in agreement, Obama obviously, is going to pull America down etc,. His misleading, deluded ideas need to be dealt with! How do we further combat his danger? Lets bombard the "leftie blogs" and shove the true Obama Reality down their throat! No doubt, they will rebel and still defend their Savior, who can do no wrong and if he does, its the enemies fault! Now, how do I find the anti Republican Blogs, I want to let them have it? Ha! Ex Democrat because I cannot accept the real radical Obama! I clearly see behind his false patriotic mask! Just like his wife, he resents our country but believes he can remake America into his liking! Thus, beware his "Cbange" message, it's a detriment and his change will be for the worst! |
|
I loved this: Obama Kenyan Carpetbagger
At least Obama was born in the good ole USA, unlike that Panamanian carpetbagger McSame. |
|
"So why not attack him on something REAL"
OK.
He is a radical pro-abortion supporter with a position that is far outside the mainstream, even of those who do hold to some form of "reproductive choice".
Or how about his proposal to increase the cap on Social Security taxation, without increasing the cap on social security benefits, a very unfair practice of penalizing the wealthy mearly for being wealthy.
Or how about his proposal to increase the capital gains tax (he waffles on the percent increase). I understand his desire to find a way to get at the hedgefund folks who rake in millions merely by the buying and selling of stock and pay at a tax rate that is far less than the tax rate I myself pay. However, he needs to make a distinction between those earners, and the regular folks whose investments would be very adversely impacted by such a tax.
Or how about the fact that we know he would nominate judges in the mold of Ruth Bader-Ginsburg and the "Constitution is a living breathing document" crowd. The kind of judge that has no qualms with overturning the will of the people when ever it suits their "enlightened" fancy.
I could go on and on, but those are just a few of the SUBSTANTIVE disagreements I have with Barack. This doesn't even take into consideration the questions I have regarding his character vis-à-vis the highly radical company that he has chosen to keep over the years (i.e. Wright, Ayers, his wife, etc). |
|
..for greatness is irrelevant to a calm (neither hysterical or screechy) psych evaluation of Obama. No one here has ever said Mack would be a candidate for Rushmore.
Mack's absence from Rushmore has nothing to do with Obama. One of these two guys are going to be president. McCain seems more sane than Scary Barry.
I'm not thrilled with either one but Barack has more potential for disaster. It's appropriate for people to discuss that possibility.
|
|
|
The whole meme of Obama skipping out on the troops is completely false. I can almost understand the outrage when the news first came out but now that all the facts have come out, only a mendacious or willfully ignorant hack would continue to pound Obama about the incident. |
|
John Sidney McCain was born of American parents on American soil.
Barak Hussein Obama was born of a Kenyan mohameddan philandering father and an anti-American radical feminist mother.
Please, please engage the American/patriot argument!
America doesn't elect leftist anti-American weenies. Especially ones that aren't even American.

"In other words, under bush our Federal Government has become more Big Brother than the RW cares to admit or even admit complicity for."
What is so comical is that if this supposed "Big Brother" government actually existed, Kimberly wouldn't ever even have the opportunity to say such drivel.
But do keep on posting your delusional rantings.
It suits you. |

the Slick-Kid's haid in with. LUV it!
Finger wagging disapproval. Yessirree, that's what we want in a President. How about, to be fair, the feds confiscate all Indian Reservation land--including the Casinos--and redistribute the zillions of acres to The Pee-Poe! Only fair.
These snippits of Reparations, Bad America, We Owe Alot of Amends to Our Darker-Deader Fo'Fathers, etc, etc...WILL be used, On-Air, repeatedly, ad infinitum, by Evil Reep 527s during the upcoming campaign. As well they should!
O'Bama, Focus Dude: ALL Real Americans despise Elitist Disapproval. Toast. Clueless TOAST. |

Back to the Troop Snub! A witness to Obamas other Europe troop visits, said he watched the so called Patriot "0" ignore lined up service soldiers. Obama didn't speak to or shake hands, in his haste to speak to the Commanders in charge and get back to his grandstanding before world crowds! So the Rookie Obama dissed the injured and ignored two other opportunities to give moral support also! Sad but true from a reliable source |
|
Obama is the one throwing terms like national security force and when speaking of reparations he says the government must not just use words but must perform deeds.
What does he mean by these terms? You cannot answer for him because your answer is as speculative as anyone else's answer. It as though Obama speaks in code. |
|
I don't think McCain will be a great president. I'm not even sure he'll be a good president. He tried to cram amnesty down our throats. He seeks the input of libs like the Swimmer too much. He seeks the approval of the MSM. He was last in my list of candidates.
Unfortunately we are only given 2 choices. One is McCain who will probably nominate judges that interpret the constitution instead of rewrite it. Who will not surrender to jihadists. Who tends to side with cons more than libs. The other is Barry. The Senator to the left of Kerry, Reid and Pelosi. The man who's biggest accomplishment is being a community organizer. The man whose friends include domestic terrorists and race baiting ministers. The man who has promised to raise my taxes and bring back the policies of Carter. The man without one freaking clue about foreign policy. The man who is more concerned about what Europeans think about America than Americans.
I don't have to love McCain to vote for him when the alternative is this empty suit.
Now your turn. Besides the thrill running down your leg, besides hope, change and reperations, what make you think Barry will be a good president. Please persuade me. |
|
Oh please. The hero-worshiping right-wing ('God Himself put George Bush in the White House') talking about "twitter-pated" Dems. Don't be ridiculous. If the younger folks are enthusiastic at the prospect of new leadership, who cares?! Enthusiasm is a prerogative of youth.
As for the idea that you Reeps are the grown-ups, that's a hoary old idea that has seen its day. Events have overrun that thesis, my friend, and even now, we see your doddering fool of a candidate all over the map, here and there and everywhere, without principle and, seemingly, honor. And while your friends in the corporate media and the inside-the-beltway crowd are giving you Reeps your usual free ride, we have got three months to reach beyond that noise machine and make the case to the American people. You know what? We're gonna do it. And our civic life will be the better for it. |
|
"Did I say we WERE in a Big Brother government or MORE LIKE one?"
Except you can't cite a SINGLE example of how we are "MORE LIKE one", not withstanding your silly "because I say so" arguments of course.
"Nuances, my friend, are not the RW strong suit."
And basic intelligence and logic are not the LW strong suit. So what exactly is your point again?
"policies that are completely against your best interests."
Who the hell are you to determine what policies are for or against MY best interests? You elitist liberals really do think that you know it all don't you? No wonder the arrogant wunderkind is your dream candidate. Unreal.
"But hey, you've made a lot of really, really rich people a LOT richer,"
So what. Other than class envy, do you have a point to make?

The Paramont Community Organizer of Great City of Chicago, graced us today:
"I have become a SYMBOL ....of the possibility of America.... ....returning to our best traditions."
I think, some wise Democrats, want to get out of "This is the Moment" era.. Supremacy? maybe?
If you wonder what Madonna the singer and Obama have in common is not Cabbala, oddly, Barry used to speak with British Accent! for a while.

-Giving free rein to the US financial entities to run amok out of greed
This is a Capitalist society. Companies are in business to make profits. If you are not ok with this, I will assume you hold no stocks or have a 401k.
-Power to wage illegal wars based on lies
You mean like the one Congress approved and has funded 6 times?
-Crushing programs meant to regulate industry t- hat concerns our health and safety wellbeing [FDA, EPA, FEMA, etc]
I'm sure you have some examples of this...
-Power to politicize our legal system, ie: the DOJ, the attorney general
Does the name Janet Reno mean anything to you? (You know....Elian Gonzalez...Branch Davidians...it'll come to you)
-Unlawful spying on US citizens (Big Brother Wannabe knows what you are doing and to whom you're doing it, who you're talking to and how you like you like your coffee, Marvin!)
I guess you didn't see where Congress passed FISA last week. Do you EVER get out of your basement....?

I'm guessing dorm room. Obama "Change" poster on the wall right next to the Che poster. "Bush is Hitler" sticker on the door. Bong water needs to be changed. If I knew blonde, brunette or redhead I could complete the image. |
|
The fact that the latest Democratic Congress is complicit in the empowering of Bush, the absolution of lawbreaking, validating Executive spying on Americans without real oversight; and the mealymouthed wimpy 'hearings' and 'subpoenas' they perform ineptly for political purposes; does not make it any less wrong or Republicans any more right.
It just reinforces the fact that the whole lot of our 'leaders' ought to be drawn up on charges and impeached regardless of the little letter that follows their name. |
|
"-Unlawful spying on US citizens (Big Brother Wannabe knows what you are doing and to whom you're doing it, who you're talking to and how you like you like your coffee, Marvin!)"
You are such a dolt it defies all description. First point, you have NO EVIDENCE WHATSOEVER that this is occuring. Second point, do you honestly believe that the Federal government cares about what kind of coffee I drink? Third point, even if your silly rambling was true, frankly as long as they don't tell me how to live my life, I could care less if they know about it.
However, now that I think about it, given the donk's proclivities for telling people how they should believe (think hate speech and which side of the aisle pushes that agenda), maybe I should begin to worry...if a leftist gets control. |
|
Panama is not, to my knowledge one of the 50 states. If anyone is not American, it is the one not born here. |
|
"that the whole lot of our 'leaders' ought to be drawn up on charges and impeached regardless of the little letter that follows their name."
I can think of a long list of reasons. I don't think trying to listen to what Ahmed the terrorist is planning next is one of them. If you can point to an example of where an American citizen has suffered due to FISA I'm all ears. |
|
|
Don't come back until you've read the portion of the Constitution relating to citizenship requirements of a POTUS. |

I like how you avoided my question.
I didn't ask you to list the ills of the current administration. I want you to present your basic concept of the responsibilities of the Federal Government. |
|
[I don't think trying to listen to what Ahmed the terrorist is planning next is one of them.]
Neither would I. As long as the law was followed and a warrant was issued either beforehand or within the three days they after the fact to acquire one from the oversight court.
As far as proving exactly what the program entails, well, the new law absolving the telecoms pretty much shut off that route of investigation, and I don't expect the government will be pursuing a criminal investigation, so it's entirely possible we will never know how many Americans were affected, whether they were guilty or innocent; whether the calls/emails/communications monitored were only those sent overseas or whether some domestic ones were caught up in the dragnet as well.
And then the Congress goes and passes a law that makes what the President did legal.
No. We have to take it on faith that the President/government is really only targeting specific bad people sending communiques overseas.
Doesn't that make you, as a conservative, at least mildly uncomfortable?
Doesn't it make you mildly uncomfortable at the least to hear a defense from a Congressman who, when explaining the need for immunity, says that Americans should assume that if the President asks you to do something, you do it? |
|
[Who the hell are you to determine what policies are for or against MY best interests?]
I would assume then, that this would be your same response with regards to laws pushed by Republicans that affect us and limit freedom for our own good? |
|
|
If there was anyone harmed by FISA in any way what so ever, no matter how negligible, you know without a doubt it would be on the front page of the NY Times everyday for a month. Olberman would interview the person for weeks. I'm shocked they haven't created one like the Plame/Wilson circus. |
|
"I would assume then, that this would be your same response with regards to laws pushed by Republicans that affect us and limit freedom for our own good?"
All freedoms are limited, otherwise there would be anarchy. But I would love to hear your idea of an example of a law pushed by republicans that limits freedom for our own good. |
|
Pleeeeze. You never heard me or anybody I know say that Bush was God's annointed. I know there are some out there some place, but not in my neck of the woods.
We got Bush the satme way we're are going to get Mack: The Dem candidate is just plain weird.
Plus his left wing policies would be destructive: higher taxes to be "fair," a refusal to consider drilling, nationalized health care w/o securing the border, an international poverty program w/o promoting democracy and capitalism and deconstructing the military. (Down here in San Diego the Navy is geared up and on alert for an imminent Israeli invasion of Iran).
Barack's policies would destroy the very golden goose that he expects to finance his growth of the nanny state: American small business. It's ludicrous he's running on "good judgment." Yikes!
The mistake libs make is in assuming because "Bush is so bad, anything would be an improvement." Not so. Things could get a lot worse under a President Obama.

about Obama in Europe, but recently it occurred to me. We wondered who Obama would throw under the bus after his white grandmother, of course he then proceeded to throw, Ayers, Rezko, Rev. Wright, Rev. Pfleger, bitter and angry rural and small town Americans under the bus in quick succession. Now he (Obama) has taken the cake for throwing loving relatives, loyal friends, spiritual leaders, the people he audaciously hopes to lead under the bus.
In Berlin, as near as I can tell from the news, Obama threw America under the bus. It is beyond me how anyone could vote for the man. My hope right now is that the Dems really do nominate him in their August convention. |

I been kinda busy and haven't had time for the blogs so this might have been discussed already. Seems Obama let something slip when doing an interview with one of the national magazines. His family does not celebrate Christmas. They also don't celebrate birthdays. Dennis Prager brought this up on Fox the other night and everyone thought it was no big deal that Obama's children don't get Christmas gifts or birthday presents. I find this to be very strange. Is this a custom in the Muslim community ? Or Africa ? It's definitely not American. I was brought up in a very large family and we didn't have a lot of money. But my parents would never deny us Christmas or birthdays. What's up with the Obama's ?

That's what's up with the Obamas, lula may.
The carnage in November will be thorough.

..on VP, I think. But you are spot on re: Obama throwing America under the bus. It made me sick to hear what he said, pandering to his Hate-America constituency abroad.
Barack is going to fix America and fix the world. Look out; the whole dang universe will be next. No more sun spots or meteors.
Can anyone spell megalomaniac?
meg·a·lo·ma·ni·a (mg-l-mn-, -mny) n. 1. A psychopathological condition in which delusional fantasies of wealth, power, or omnipotence predominate. 2. An obsession with grandiose or extravagant things or actions.
I repeat my former "armchair" diagnosis: The man is psycho.

If you don't mind there Brob I would rather focus on his accomplishments as a Illinois legislator and a US Senator. Accomplishments such as ........ um ....... hold on Brob I'm thinking. Community organizer, wasn't he a communtiy organizer. Don't forget all those present votes when he wasn't campaigning. Oh yeah, don't forget that speech he gave at the last dem convention. That was awesome. Your right Brob ...Barry's the man. |

than that...ummmmm....There's the time he...nope, sorry. And, then he was decisive in the...oops, sorry, got him mixed up with a guy with a resume. Okay, fer sure, Duuude...He made the dramatic... errr, "Present" vote in the Illinois State House!
Nuthin'. Empty of Head. Inflated of Ego. Empty of Resume. Inflated of Self-Regard. Empty of Experience of ANY Kind. Toast. Clueless TOAST. |

...is that he doesn't know he's fake. He was raised to believe his poo-poo don't stink. And all this world-wide adulation just feeds the self-delusion that he actually is omnipotent, omniscient and omnipresent.
This is a lot worse than an inexperienced candidate for an opposing political party. There is something really not right about this guy. It's beginning to feel like a bad movie. |

Never mind Marystella. She's got enough spelling trouble with her bigotry. Think she gets off because you call her princess? You don't get off either, fo'ty fo'; your unconscious mind takin' over. Stop telling us what you want. |

Each day that brings Barrack Obama closer to the American Presidency brings us closer to the matter of reparations. America owes Africa and the people of Africa a profound debt. The numbers are staggering: millions of Africans enslaved and murdered by America. Millions of Africans oppressed and jailed in America’s prisons today. Families destroyed. Culture destroyed. Knowledge stolen and denied.
How much should America pay? Clearly the amount would be in the billions in monetary funds. Additionally, there is no reason why any African should pay taxes to the American government. I certainly hope that Obama as President will make that a reality. But more than mere money is required here. America must express a sincere remorse for the crimes it has committed against humanity. America should be made to pay a price and be punished.
After the European powers concluded their First World War they made Germany pay a price. They made Germany pay vast sums from their treasury. They redrew Germany’s borders. They reduced Germany’s military and economic might. I suggest that similar measures be taken on America.
Keep in mind that all of the territory that comprises the United States is stolen land. The United States therefore is an illegal nation. The Southwestern part of America for example, belongs to Mexico. Why not return this land to the people of Mexico?
It may take generations but I hope that a President Obama will start the process and will correct the wrongs of America and start the healing.

Bite me...!
When you can prove to me that you were once a slave AND prove to me that I was once a slave owner, I will CONSIDER |
|
...I suppose that you are enjoying a far better lifestyle in this country than if your ancestors had never left Africa? Instead of being grateful that as a result of centuries of injustice you now have the American Dream equal to anyone else in this country, you choose stand there with your hand out and rail against a nation 150 years down the road. Straight to hell with you sir....! Or Liberia if you prefer.... |

Excuse me but blacks from Africa were NOT enslaved by America. They were mostly enslaved by other blacks in Africa and Arabs who made them AVAILABLE to anyone who wanted to buy them. Had they not been made available to the world, America would certainly not have even gone to Africa in the first place. Many of the buyers in Africa were middlemen from all over the world, England for instance, who delivered them to America. If you need to educate yourself about this, I highly recommend reading the books of Henry Louis Gates. Here is a list:
http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?file=/c/a/2008/07 /30/MN0I121CI9.DTL
You might also have caught his various PBS series, all excellent, about Africa and about tracing the ancestry of several famous American blacks. History of slavery is ugly enough without fictionalizing it. There is no such thing as inherited, collective guilt. Why should I have to be punished for something my ancestors had nothing to do with? My parents were immigrants. It is far too late for reparations.
I agree that America has yet to come to terms about that part of its history and blacks have never had a chance to properly grieve but reparations would accomplish nothing and is counterproductive. |
|
Given that Obama's paternal ancestry is Kenyan Muslim, it's actually not improbable that his own ancestors sold blacks into the slave trade.
I believe that he also has some Arab ancestry.
Pay up, Obamassah!

|
Uh oh, this isn't gonna play for the Obamassah, son of Kenyan and Arab Moslems.
"Arab slavers moved into the interior of Kenya with the primary goal of exploiting rivalries between local tribes. The Arabs encouraged the powerful groups to conquer their weaker neighbors and sell them into slavery. The slaves were then forced to the coast and on to Zanzibar to be traded. Both ivory and slaves were hugely profitable and Zanzibar grew rich on the trade. This pattern continued despite the public outrage in Europe demanding an end to all slave trade. Eventually, the British brought their forceful anti-slavery message directly to the Sultan as they established a consulate at his court. After years of pressure, the Sultan finally relented and agreed to ban slavery in 1847."

For thousands of years Africans were Kings and Queens, scientists and philosophers, builders and explorers. Africans today have an obligation to remember their ancestors and honor what they accomplished. This is what Obama is doing and this is what the current power structure in America fears.

... his wife's ancestors into slavery?

... they had a "back to nature" epiphany, kind of like the 1960's hippies, and decided to chuck it all and move into grass huts and hunt with spears?

At first reading I thought Truth's nonsense was over-the-top, tonque-in-cheek. I guess I was wrong; he's fer real.
Truth: Whatever horrors were perpetrated on your ancestors, it didn't happen to you. If your own rights are being violated, seek redress in the courts.
In this country you have the freedom to make your own reparations. Get an education, get a job and get a life.
Most of the suffering nowadays is caused by the underclass's own making: drugs, alcohol, illegitimacy, giving educational opportunities the bird, lawlessness and a poor work ethic.
Remember that guy on TH named Mingus? His wife worked as an English teacher in the SF ghetto. She worked her little heart out for years trying to help the kids, but finally had to quit in despair. It was killing her and she did no noticeable good.
Go look at the old 1960's Civil Rights video. Black youth dressed to the nines in shirts, ties, skirts, beautifully groomed, perfect manners, on the march. What happened to those days?
I refuse to believe that the conditions of the underclass today are a result of slavery. They are a result of Lyndon Johnson and his ill-fated War on Poverty.
My great-grandfather marched with Sherman. My g,g,g whatever grandfather was wounded at Bunker Hill. Maybe you owe ME reparations.
Go live the American dream--even if it's relatively modest. That's your reparation. Or go back to West Africa. That's an option.
|
|
There still many horrors forced on the sons and daughters of Africa today by the American government.
As I write this, there are nearly 2 million Africans who rot today in America's prisons. While there may be some who did something improper most are political prisoners who have been sent to prison on trumped-up or entirely false charges.
Racial profiling is the first step in the process. Many white police departments have quotas which require their officers to arrest certain number of Africans per day.
How do you justify this?
Bond is supposed to ensure that a defendant will show up for court hearings. When someone is arrested, he or she appears before a magistrate or judge, who then decides how much money the person must post to get out of jail. Bail isn't about punishment. Yet, often it is set too high for any African to pay, so they sit in jail. This helps ensure that millions of votes to Democrat leaders are denied so that Republicans can stay in power.
How do you justify this?

My ancestors, paternal grandparents came as children from England in the 1880's, my mother, her parents and siblings also came from England in 1923. Wilburforce, an ENGLISHMAN worked himself to death trying end the slave trade, I believe it was forty years before he succeeded. He was a WHITE man Truth.
kg it looks like Truth has imbibed a lot of the Black Liberation Theology with his queens and Kings etc.
When do I get reparations for my father being denied purchasing a house because he was only a 2 dollar tax payer? When does my husband get reparations for what his indian grandfather went through, even though his grandfather was a ship that passed in the night. My dau. in law and her children, Cherokee grandparents both sides. Will she get paid for the Trail of Tears.
You know, it's not just blaming America for it's perceived sins, it's blaming every Caucasion in this country for something we had nothing to do with. |
|
When Obama is President he will settle the matter. And yes, the indigenous peoples of the Americas do deserve reparations. Obama made this clear to me when I interviewed him last month:
TF: Senator Obama, the issue of reparations will need to be addressed. As you know this is a key issue for America and a sensitive one. How do you plan to address the issue? America owes a great deal to the victims of slavery and what should be done?
Senator Obama: It is an important matter and it has been ignored for too long. American history is filled with tragic moments and it needs to be acknowledged. What has happened to African-Americans has shaped the nation we live in now and its not always good. I do feel the American should offer a gesture of remorse but also policies that make sure we do not repeat the mistakes of the past.
TF: Should America pay money to the victims of American policy?
Senator Obama: That is on the table. There should be some form of compensation and I hope to gather a panel to discuss it. We need a national discussion on it, some real soul searching.

...if he feels so inclined. He descends from slave owners--not slaves.
Is he also inclined to pay reparations to my husband's Mormon ancestors who were driven out of several homes, held under seige, raped and driven into the wildnerness?
Where would it all stop? Let's all stipulate that whatever our ancestors suffered, their sacrifices left us sitting pretty in the promised land.
Every abused person knows that rehearsing past abuses over and over simply continues the abuse. That's why most religions require forgiving and forgetting.
Not to let the perps off the hook, but to release the victims from endless suffering. |

Luvin' seeing you back full-blast on these threads, K.G. Take NO Lefty prisoners!
Hey, I may owe YOU reparations. Your G-Grand Pappy marched with Sherman...Mine marched with Longstreet's Corps in Bobby Lee's Army.
Can you imagine what this Reparations Bull***t would cause between the races in America after all the progress?? FOCUS, Lefty-Nitwits: It would set Race Relations back 45-years. Minimum.
C'mon, O'Bammy. Please'0'Please'O'Pleasssseeeee, make it part of your Platform. 50-states for McJuan. I like it. |

Obama is a nut job. The only mystery remaining in this soap opera is to wait breathlessly to see how long it takes the good ol' common sense Dems to figure it out. |

do not realize it until after their convention!!! |

as I think of the EASY Ammo he's been supplying for the flood of clever, spot-on Repub 527 ads upcoming! So much Audio...So Much Video...SO MUCH to choose from!

Good point. Pubs could over-play their hand and end up with Hillary after all. As they say: Timing is everything.
Neo: You are right. Of course, everybody (the media) is already trying to do a post mortem on Obama: Why isn't he higher in the polls? What happened to the Grand Tour bounce?
I've said from the beginning: The Average Joe Sixpack is not going to buy this guy. They will vote for the flawed but grandfatherly old war hero, whose patriotic bona fides are not in question. |

One thing about this generation of right-wingers--they may not know how to govern, but they sure know how to strut and taunt. But you weren't right about Republican nominee Mitt Romney and you weren't right about Democratic nominess Hillary Clinton and you are not going to be right about November.
So keep counting your chickens, clowns. All your lackeys in the media ain't gonna do the trick for your this time around. You have a fight on your hands, and as usual, you are so busy preening and prancing that you don't even know you are about to get your butt whupped. |

by The Bloviator. He has repeated over & over that the Media are Righty Tools.
So, K.G., what you and I perceive as obsequiousness, fawning, fainting, slavish luv and unquestioning support of Barry...Is REALLY overwhelming support for McJuan by the Press. The only place you will find such raving lunacy is on the far Left Column of kos. Blovie the Bong Toker.

PL. In general, I find it common in human nature that those who taunt and strut without being defeated ever in debate are confident in knowing that they are right on the issues and history has granted them superiority over the meek and timid losers of society who debate with tired old worn out ideas which have proven wrong for centuries. You under stand don't you PL? |
