Lots of Love for Palin in Geogia
Posted by: Amanda Carpenter at 5:59 PM
More than 3,000 Atlanta metro residents turned out to see their GOP Sen. Saxby Chambliss campaign with Republican rockstar Sarah Palin this afternoon at the Gwinnet Arena.

I had the chance to stop by and see the event since it was on the way home from a long Thanksgiving weekend in Auburn, Alabama with my fiance's family.

Chambliss may have had top billing at the campaign stop for his run-off election against Democrat Jim Martin, but there was no doubt the crowd was there for his stumping partner Palin. Even Sen. Chambliss seemed a little amazed at the size. He relished the attention, waving both arms in the air to greet everyone.

Hundreds of young girls came to the arena. Many carriied news magazines with Palin on the cover for her autograph after the event. "Sarah 2012!" was a common refrain and a popular sign. One girl even dressed in a pageant sash and tiara, a nod to the former beauty queen on stage. The young Palin fan held a huge poster that read "Gov. Palin, can I please have photo op?"

In her speech, Palin stuck to red meat themes: reform, energy independence, the war on terror, guns and life. And, she was gracious to her former running mate, John McCain, praising him repeatedly.

Palin reassured the crowd "commensense, pro-working class, conservative values" were still strong in America despite the McCain-Palin 2008 loss. "Losing an election does not mean losing our way," she said.

The Alaskan Governor did not attack Democratic President-elect Barack Obama as she often did on the campaign trail.  She did emphasize at one point, however, it would be "ludicous" to raise taxes given the current economic environment that had been officially labeled a recession by economists earlier that afternoon.

The entire event lasted roughly 50 minutes, including the prayer and Pledge of Allegience. Palin was mobbed by the crowd after it closed.

As this reporter was walking out, a man drove up to me who had rushed home from work to catch the event. He asked if everything was over. I said yes it had ended, but Palin was signing autographs when I walked out. Before I could finish my sentence he gave me a brisk "Thank you!" and zoomed towards the arena.

Update: I added some (very rough) video of the event HERE.

Work?
I thought Caribou Barbie had a job -- one she neglected for weeks during the campaign:

"It’s now been three weeks since the election. And Sarah has yet to set foot in Juneau. Next week she’s off to Georgia. And from there up to Philly. By the time she gets back to Alaska the Holiday Season will be full upon her. So it’s unlikely that Sarah will spend another night in the Governor’s Mansion until the Legislature returns to Juneau in January."

Wish I had been there!!!!!
People like pet goat are totally lame, not able to appreciate a REAL person in the political circuit.
I hope to see and hear lots about Gov. Palin. now in future months and years. She will be President someday- she is an accomplished individual, a winner all the way.

Sarah Palin GOP rockstar!
On top of the numerous polls (Rasmussen, Gallup, and today Zogby) Sarah Palin is the top pick of Republicans for 2012 and I am betting that the love of the GOP base is going to last over the next four years. The power that Sarah Palin has over the GOP base is astonishing. The GOP base has not had this kind of love and passion for a Republican since Ronald Reagan. In a primary Sarah Palin would easily have an army of grassroots supporters that would dwarf any other Republican contenders. She in my opinion is the one Republican that Obama fears. Why? First, Sarah Palin's skills as an orator blasts Obama's out of the water. Sarah is a highly skillful speaker even when off script as well as when she speaks on script. Second, Sarah Palin has a charismatic personality. She has become the second most popular political figure in American politics (just after Obama) in a matter of weeks and it took Obama two years of campaigning to achieve his stardom (and Sarah had no help from the mainstream media). Third, she is young, attractive, and has a success story that rivals his own. Sarah can draw female voters away from Obama. Fourth, Sarah is fierce and determined and one of her greatest strengths is her grassroots power and organization. I recently read this from "Sarah Palin: Faith, Family, & Country" by Susan Parr. Read the following from pages 29-30:

"One of the most remarkable facts surrounding the accomplishment of being elected Governor of Alaska is her grassroots campaign. It was comprised of dedicated, hard working people. These people though oridinary, were extrodinary- and they were people who simply wanted change. She lacked the money, but not the manpower, to spread her name. And her victory was not hers alone, but it was also a victory for the common people."

Obama and the Democrats fear this woman, as does status quo Republicans. Yet the Republican base loves her! I believe in 2012 we will have a new Reagan but in a skirt!
Allen Caeden writes: Monday, December, 01, 2008 6:12 PM
Is there another contender?
At 8:30 am Sarah Palin was scheduled to speak in Georgia and something astonishing happened before she even arrived. What? Thousands of people got up hours earlier to wait in line on a cold morning to see this woman. Can you name another Republican who has this kind of star power?

Palin and Reagan
Listened to Palin on the Saturday before election day. She was great, instant connection with people. She seems happy, she's very convictive and also much prettier in person.

I also visited with Dutch for a half an hour at his office in Century City ('93). Instant connection, extremly gracious, like spending time with your favorite grandfather (only he is the second half of the 20th century's most beloved President).

If Sarah Barracuda works as hard to refine a historical understanding of her beliefs as Dutch did(GE speeches, Governor, 70's radio spots, Presidential candidate) and she can formulate a plan to implement them into her agenda for the country she could win.

Why is this important? Because this is the first time a Republican internet campaign is being used. Obama masterered the internet, now it is Sarah's turn.

Ah, Goat, You're Such a Hypocrite
So, Palin being away from Alaska for two months during the campaign is so terrible? Funny, I don't recall you writing any complaints about Obama not being in the Senate for the last two YEARS while he was out running for President (out of a grand total of three years in the office).

Get over it - Palin is as much of a rock star on the right as Obama is on the left. Her conservatism is instinctive. If she spends the next four years running Alaska well and if she masters the national and international topics a candidate must know, she will be a formidable opponent for any Democrat.

LIBERALS HATE THE FACT BUT GET READY THE REPUBLICAN PARTY STUMBLED IN 2004, TATTERED IN 2006, AND FELL IN 2008 IT IS TIME TO RISE IN 2010. VISION WAS LOST BY NEOCONS BUT CONSERVATIVES ARE BACK STRONGER THAN EVER. If Palin is the nominee in 2012
it will be interesting to see the tables turn with Obama running as the experienced and proven executive (if that be the case) and Sarah being made out to be a gimmick. I can see the ads now with screaming Palin fans waving their lipstick tubes in the air while Palin winks and waves to her fans yelling drill baby drill! Don't be suprised to see some version of the celebrity ads return.

What's really funny Max.
Is she drew a total of about 20,000 over four stops! This is much more than both the candidates have been able to draw and the crowds that show up for her are much younger than normal.Yea that is real funny. That historic drop in the stock market after Obama introduced his staff choices today was funny too!

Max - Only 3000
3000 attending a rally for a senate or congressional race is an excellent showing if the candidate is repub or dem. So called intelligent Americans want change but want to listen to the same old political garbage. If we really want change we need to vote for people who can make changes. Like Governor Palin.

Alaska Governors not in Capitol much
Pet Goat really displays his ignorance of Alaska and Alaska politics. I've spent a considerable amount of time up there, involved deeply in AK politics. Alaska Governors rarely spend much time in Juneau.

Pet Goat needs to ask himself where was Obama in representing the State of Illinois the last two years?

Tell ya what Pet Goat, ask Alaskans how they feel about their Governor going to Georgia and being a national celebrity.

They'll probably react like the Butcher guy in the Turkey day YouTube video who said, "Don't mess with our Governor."

I was there last night and it was electric. I am in my late twenties and 80% of the crowd was near my age. She is a star that won't fade (thank goodness!!).

BTW... That was the 4th stop of the day and she had crowds of over 3,000 at every stop!!! All of the senators and reps that attended were blown away by the crowds and their enthusiasm for Sarah!!

Sarah Palin vs "pet goat"
Her detractors to the contrary, we happen to love this straight-across make-sense leader in part for her lack of pretense. Somehow Tina Fey's spoofs don't quite convey the depth of Alaska's governor but the anti-Palin element grits its teeth collectively and believes fiercely in the pseudo-Palin in visceral response to her being one of the people. We aren't about to hide her, especially given the Obama camp's recent concealment of Senator Joe Biden. Has it dawned somehow upon them that the quasi-populist has been channeling the television character Ted Baxter all this time? Go Sarah!

For those of you that don't like Palin the day is going to come when you realize (if your lucky) that she was fighting for America and the right to be unique....Islam is rising in this Country and when it hits critical mass probably with the help of Obama you are going to have to conform to their belief system or be dead...by the way there is a pecking order in rights.

The smart Republicans - and there are a few - are completely embarrassed by Sarah and just praying she will go away. My fifth grader and his friends thought it was hilarious that she thought Africa was a country.
It's pretty sad when the leader of the GOP is someone who is thought of as stupid by a bunch of 10 year olds. If she is the best person the Republicans can come up with, then I truly feel sorry for them.
She is a female George W. Bush who lacks his brainpower and is a complete joke to anyone who has a triple digit IQ. But I guess she is the perfect person to represent the GOP since she is obviously smarter than their "base".

Problem with you is that Sarah Palin would offer YOU her pity and a home-cooked meal, and nothing else. Calling her a who*re was a little desperate. Secondly, what does Obama say about the illegal alien "problem"? Nothing, because he sees no problem. Maybe Obama can spend some of the "transportation job-creating" money on buses. We can have Acorn volunteers teach them English and sign them up to vote.

Sarah Palin would at least attempt to address the illegal alien problem, with the Democrats doing everything they can to stop her. Obama would do NOTHING, so your whole issue is stupid.

I am so jealous of the Central Banks next Republican puppet (Palin) or (Jindal).

Obama did a good acting job with the public and will be a good work horse for the Central Banks in his 4 yr. tenure.

Envy can't even describe it. I am so jealous of these parasites (Obama, Palin, and Jindal). Talking the talk, but not walking the walk. Worked out pretty good for the phony "decider" George W. Bush.

Running scared!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It is actually quite funny all the slams that are still going towards Sarah Palin. She has the liberal left in a tizzy. Here is a woman who is smart, confident in her beliefs, stands for family,God and is not ashamed to say so. The night she gave her convention speech, all I could think of was how Mizz Hillary was taking this bright, cute, woman,in high heels, giving a speech that made Hillary see her dream slowling going down the drain.

It is funny how the left are so hateful, even when they win. They are never happy, always trying to look at the dark side, that is how they live their lives and think only they can help America become more."Yes We Can", would somebody please tell me what the heck that means, can what. Bring in socalism, redistribute the wealth, make the people completely dependent on the government. The government is the answer to everything they think.Than again we have the saying "We are the ones you been waiting for", that makes about as much sense. The media followed the pide pipper,Obama, and all the sheep followed.

Sarah Palin is the lefts worst nightmare. Go Sarah go.
