Gays and Obama: More Cracks In The Coalition?

Gaywired.com opens another line of attack against Barack Obama:
Just as the dust surrounding Sen. Barack Obama’s long-term association with controversial minister Rev. Jeremiah Wright has begun to settle comes new reports of the democratic presidential hopeful’s connection to another racially divisive public figure—the stridently homophobic Rev. James T. Meeks, an Illinois state senator who also serves as the pastor of Chicago’s 22,000 member strong Salem Baptist Church.
Described in a 2004 Chicago Sun Times article as someone Barack Obama regularly seeks out for “spiritual counsel”, James Meeks, who will serve as an Obama delegate at the 2008 Democratic convention in Denver, is a long-time political ally to the democratic frontrunner.
When Obama ran for the U.S. Senate in 2003, he frequently campaigned at Salem Baptist Church while Rev. Meeks appeared in television ads supporting the Illinois senator’s campaign. Later, according to the same Chicago Sun Times article, on the night after he won the Democratic primary, Sen. Obama attended bible study at Meeks’ church ‘for prayer’ and ‘to say thank you.’
Since that time, not only has Meeks himself served on Obama’s exploratory committee for the presidency and been listed on the Obama's campaign website as one of the senator’s ‘influential black supporters’, but his church choir was called on to raise their voices in praise at a rally the night Obama announced his run for the White House back in 2007.
Interestingly, the Chicago Sun Times has also reported that both Meeks and Obama share a history of substantial campaign contributions from indicted real estate magnate Tony Rezko.
Read the whole thing, but GayWired.com is an adult-themed site. Key conclusion in the article:
But the question remains: At what point must a candidate for the highest office in the United States be held accountable for the small coterie of individuals who make up his or her inner circle and potentially bear influence on his interpretation of the constitution? And at what point does the benefit of the doubt give way to guilt by association?
Moreover, how can a candidate cultivate a constituency like that of Rev. James Meek, essentially espousing a shared belief in their value system, become an effective and powerful advocate on behalf of issues like LGBT rights that run counter to fundamental agenda of that constituency without experiencing severe repercussions? The answer is he can’t.
Just as Hillary Clinton cannot cherry pick the successes and pitfalls from her husband’s administration that suit her campaign, neither can Barack Obama divorce himself from the implications surrounding the bedfellows he has made over the course of his relatively short political career.
Put even more plainly... Barack Obama can’t have it both ways, which increasingly seems to be his campaign’s modus operandi.
While it is altogether plausible that, in the spirit of bringing hope and unity, a civil rights leader might sit down with members of white supremacist groups to address racial differences, it is another thing entirely to propose that the same civil rights leader could count any of those white supremacists among his closest friends because he finds them to be inspirational people if, you know, you take that pesky race thing out of the equation.
Similarly, while potentially capable of co-existing peacefully in an environment of mutual respect, the homophobe and the LGBT rights advocate aren’t likely to be found cooing at or canoodling with one another in private because they share so many other common interests. Yet these are precisely the kinds of scenarios that Barack Obama asks the American people to accept on faith each and every time unsavory questions arise about the associates with whom he has chosen to surround himself. Ultimately, it is this porous type of reaction that may be Sen. Obama’s undoing. But, then again, perhaps not.

Tsst, tsst, what a poor choice of words. |

Seems it is worth a comment? |

are correct. There are Christians (most) who belive that homosexuality is a sin.
This teaching is contrary to the socio-political beliefs of the majority of dimocrats.
So, when babakazama goes currying political favor of a minister whose teachings/preachings on homosexuality are typically Christian, this stands in contrast to babakazama's public pronouncements on social issues involving gay sexuality.
And, Blowing Red, this is what is tradionally referred to as hypocracy.
What we can be assured of is that babakazama, the more the sperpent unwinds, is rather more like Hillary Rod'em every day: dishonest on many levels and willing to say ANYTHING to win the presidency. |

|
The big problem with your post is: homosexual behavior is considered a sin by christians. Love the sinner, hate the sin. |

I hadn't know about James Meeks until I was researching a video on Obama and his ties to bigoted individuals like Sharpton and Charles Barron. What kind of a church has terms like "house-n******" in its sermons?
A pic of Meeks and the ugly quote are about two minutes into the video:

Remember, this is a guy Obama considers his "other" spiritual mentor. He goes to prayer meetings with him. |

I am looking at the Pam's (Atlas Shrugs)picture of the Rezko/Obama plots and the 10' is mapped out on the picture and I have a very serious question.
Does that amount make the rest of the lot undevelopable?
There are City zoning building/lot line distance requirements needed to each side, and if there is not enough width left to build a house on what is left.... It looks like both lots were standard high density minimum lots. Any lot with reduction makes the smaller lot problematical for any independent construction (as in not added to the one neighbor or the other) Rezko may have only collected a small amount of $ from the Obamas, and only sold a small amount of land, but it may well leave Rezko a lot he technically owns, but cannot do anything with but provide the Obamas with an unoccupied neighboring lot and he still pays taxes and pays insurance, and maintains ... ...for the benefit of the neighbors on each side Oh, by the way, the other neighboring lot has a bush/tree barrier obstructing any possible use of the unoccupied lot (and that barrier is wholly upon Rezko's lot so that neighbor can't obtain much gain from the open lot). If Rezko goes bankrupt, unless either (both) neighbor buys the lot, the city would eventually end up with it for back taxes (not uncommon for undevelopable parcels of land) One of those two neighbors can then buy it from the City at fire-sale prices (presuming that both know it is available, another trick that happens in CHicago) |

Was it light or heavy petting? That is illegal in most states. So which dimocrat precinct do you vote in?
Seriously, though, as best I can tell babakazama seems rather popular with the homosexuals who post here---BRob, Peak Oil, Briggs all write paeans to him.
So this won't be an issue, right?
This will go away. This won't metastasize like Jeremiah Wright has, right?

The bigger problem for the GOP is that McCain doesn't hate the gays enough to stir the base.
McC is seen as too tolerant and libertarian for the freaks on the fringe right who gave us W.
So, naturally, Hewitt has to start to attack from the ..... er, uh.... rear. |

I cannot wait for the Lib pile on you, Chicklet! They are gonna go bizzerkkk with your 527 ad.
Very, Very effective. And, NOT Dishonest. Just the facts. You, Girl, are a Lil'Devil! :-) (-: |

are almost entirely for Barack. Being Boyos, I'd luv to quote some of there more pithy remarks about exactly what and how they think of Bazama, but suffice it to say, "He's soooooooooo HOT!" Hey, the Boyos read, not mine. :-) |

I have been posting this all weekend. This is weird but the video was done over the weekend by a democrat. It's crude. But check it out.
http://www.mydd.com/story/2008/3/29/65423/4259
Picture this 527 video Soft music in the background “ America the Beautiful”. Sound plays : Reverend Wright screaming “God Damn America, God Damn America”
On the screen you hear the planes zeroing in on the towers, people on the street looking up and screaming. Now you see the towers engulfed in flames, Americans jumping from the burning buildings to avoid the flames and to their deaths. People on the street terrorized, running, screaming, stopping, lifting up total strangers and dragging them along. Firefighters running up the stairs carrying all their equipment on their backs. Knowing this is their duty as Americans. Finally: Family members of the victims standing on street corners clutching photo of their missing family members. Have you seen this person ? Final scene : Construction workers and firefighters raising the American flag amidst the rubble. All the while Pastor Wright is screaming above the soft music of America the Beautiful "God Damn America, God Damn America, The chickens have come home to roost".
Obama " Don't tell me words don't matter". Narrator: The words you have heard are spoken from the pulpit of Barak Obama’a church of 20 years. These words are from his pastor and mentor. Would you trust Barak’s judgement to become Commander in Chief of this great nation ?

McCain can use their ads. to remind americans why neither one of them is qualified to be commander in chief. Actually, he just has to play Clinton's clips questioning Obama's experience and Obama's clips questioning Clinton's trustworthiness and then say - I agree with both my opponents. LOL! its more than a mess, it's a joke that these two are the democrats finest candidates (shallow and self-destructive). It seems that with negligible policy difference, these two have gotten very personal in their campaigns and americans are beginning to see - there is nothing there, it's quite empty! |

In keeping with Oprah's plea not to judge a candidate by time spent walking the halls of congress (Clinton) but to judge him by life experiences garnered when working as a community organizer/activist (Obama). Also, to hold a candidate responsible for ALL DECISIONS made while he or she was in office (Clinton's vote to go to war), and a candidates sound judgement about Iraq (Obama's speech not vote to stop going to war in Iraq). Then Obama's lifes experiences based on the "black liberation theology" is beginning to look dimmer than Clinton's vote to go to war. Obama's judgement based on his close associates in inner city chicago are making Clinton's judgement look much more sound. All things considered - Obama can neither unite this country any more than he can implement the "solutions" he sees as a great answer to the "problems" facing america. Why? Because it is against his religion to put anyone but blacks/Africa first. His allegiance is elsewhere and americans are beginning to "get it". As Michelle said earlier on in the campaign, when blacks begin to "get it" they will vote for Barak. Well Michelle, blacks did get it, and so did whites...oooops! |

I've seen old photo's of burning kamakazi planes spinning out of control after taking flak that remind me of the the Democrats. |

precious, precious i say, so delicate, well any way, the beat goes on, daily, more and more comes out, at this rate, it will be Hussein, that doesn't make it to the convention, can you say, super delegates becoming more and more uneasy with the radioactive candidate, how long before the rats, jump ship, not too soon, now, OPERATION CHAOS, working perfectly, dividing, exposing liberals, showing all, who they really are, running amock in Denver, misbehavin', breathing teargas, anarchist Heaven.......will there be anyone left to vote for Hussein?
ROCK CHALK JAYHAWK.....2 to go....it's inevitable... |

...this campaign, for Obama.
He and Hillary deserve each other. It's a fitting ticket. Perhaps they'll both come to their senses.....naw, that's not going to happen. After all, this is the Democrat Party. They play by their own rules. And nothing is more important to them than the power, that power they both seek.
