Huckabee's Excellent Defense of the Pro-Life Cause
Posted by: Matt Lewis at 12:32 PM

Just four days before the Iowa caucuses, Mike Huckabee's appearance on Meet The Press this morning included one of the most coherent and persuasive arguments in favor of the Pro-Life cause that has ever been voiced on national television.

Regardless of whether or not he ultimately wins, there is no doubt that -- because of the forum his candidacy has afforded him -- Mike Huckabee has used his exceptional rhetorical ability to persuasively explain the Pro-Life position to the American public in a compassionate -- and compelling -- manner.

I agree with you 100%. Mike Huckabee had nothing to do with pardoning Mark Dumont.

But he bears the responsibility of helping Wayne Dumond get released from prison only to rape and murder two citizens that Huckadoofis was elected to protect. Take your own advice and Google it.
Your nuance was not shared by Mikey. Even he accepts that his actions were wrong and he regrets what happened, BUT how could he have known this would happen??? How about leave the dirtbag where the judge and jury put him--in prison where he couldn't possibly destroy the lives of those two women and the countless people who loved them. But, then again, Huckaschlup knows better. And this is the guy we are supposed to believe will protect the USA. Do me a favor and step aside. You're obviously not up to the task of POTUS. Save your explanations for Saint Peter at the pearly gates.

Hey Cornpone, maybe your rationalizations will bring back Dumond's victims just like you think they're going to resurect Huckastupids campaign. (Only in your fantasy world)

Unless it comes to the life of an innocent girl and her mother who were raped and killed by a serial predator who was pardoned by an "I know better than the legal system" governor from Arkansas.
----------------------------
DocTony, you are mistaken.
it was the Clinton and Tucker democratic appointees on the Arkansas State Board of Pardon and Paroles who pardoned Dumont-NOT Mike Huckabee.

just so you know. But, hey, dont take my word for it google "Huckabee Mark Dumont"

Are you for real?
Check the US Constitution. You might notice it has something called amendments. Therefore, by definition the states did decide that the Law of The Land (aka the Constitution) abolished slavery. Please feel free to read the rest of the US Constitution if you are not clear on the amendment process. It's a great little document and one I think you should become more familiar with.

Regarding Huckabee's moral dilemma regarding following the law. He was elected by the citizens to uphold the law as the Chief Executive of the State. The fact that the Judicial system made the judgement and decided the punishment makes it unclear to me how this is anything less than a self imposed Moral Dilemma. The simple answer is that Governor Huckabee should have upheld his constitutional obligation. He should sleep well knowing he followed the law. But, as he has demonstrated, and you have parroted, Mike somehow knows better than the rest of us. So his 'conscience' was bothered. BooHoo!! How does his conscience feel now that his solitary decision caused the torture and murder of two citizens he was elected to protect. I guess his conscience will be equally bothered when dealing with Islamofascists who have killed thousands of Americans. BooHoo!! Obviously Mr. Huckabee is not up to the enormity of the job of POTUS. At least he can accept it now and step aside and let an adult lead.

should Huck have had those 12 executed?
[DocTony on December 30, 2007]"Pro-Life
I guess that explains Huckaschmuck's position on pardoning murderous pigs convicted by a jury of his peers."

Should the 12 pardoned have been executed?

[Huckabee]"carrying out the death penalty was unquestionably the worst part of my job as governor. 17 times I sat by a phone with an open line to the death chamber, and gave the verbal order for the lethal injection. I never slept well those nights. I did the job that the law prescribed for me to do, but I hated every minute of it."

In short, it sounds in places a little squishy and
insufficiently "nuanced."
On the other hand, he [Huckabee] is for a rapid
major increase in the size of the military. He is in
favor of military action, if necessary, to deny Iran a
nuclear bomb. He demands that we stay and fight
and win in Iraq. And his discussion of the risk from
radical Islam is as tough and realistic as I have
heard. In fact, as the author of a book that was
judged alarmist by some on the topic of radical
Islam ("The West's Last Chance: Will We Win the
Clash of Civilizations?"), I could find little to
complain about in his long discussion of the topic.

==
In a dangerous world such as ours, I would like to
hear more (and more careful) words from
Huckabee. But basically he seems to be a hawk--
and thus not beyond the Republican pale (although
his hawkish ways come with a perhaps-rhetorical
bow to the current nervousness of needed
independent and suburban Republican voters).

Romney vs little guy: kill human embryos
Mishra, Raja. 14 June 2002. "Romney endorses stem cell research, is silent on cloning" Boston Globe
http://www.mult-sclerosis.org/news/Jun2002/USRomneyEndorses StemCellResearch.html
Romney spoke at a Brandeis University-hosted
forum on biomedical research. He endorsed
embryonic stem cell research, saying the
controversial science might one day help treat his
wife's multiple sclerosis in addition to numerous
other degenerative diseases.
==
Romney spoke extensively about his position on
stem cell research, which also involves embryo
destruction.

''I am in favor of stem cell research. I will work and
fight for stem cell research,'' he said, adding, ''I'd be
happy to talk to [President Bush] about this, though
I don't know if I could budge him an inch.''

Last summer, Bush set tight limits on taxpayer-
funded embryonic stem cell research, and the field
has since grown sluggishly.

Too bad it doesn't animate Pastor Huckabee all that much.

You're absolutely right. FDT is the only consistent Federalist (notice I didn't say perfect).
I would encourage everyone who has an ounce of Conservative Federalist Principle in their body to check out a new video address from Fred Thompson which clearly outlines his philosophy and policies at Realclearpolitics or Fred08.com.
Be informed before you decide.

Huh? Or should I type Duh?
The direct intervention of a sitting Governor to intercede on behalf of a convicted social predator is equated with the mass anhililation of working American's only in the illogical vast wasteland of your mind. (cue chirping crickets)

The people who were murdered on 9/11 were killed because Islamofascists chose to fly airplanes into buildings you moron. What's next? Unless it comes to the life of an innocent girl and her mother who were raped and killed by a serial predator who was pardoned by an "I know better than the legal system" governor from Arkansas.
