"If Sarah is the Republican star , then Bobby Jindal makes a great VP choice."
Palin and Jindal are both Creationists! The public is rejecting the right-wing know-nothing, anti-science, anti-intellectual stance. Their appeal is increasingly only to little-educated rural poor white voters, and that's not going to win elections any more.
Did you know that next year there will be NO REPUBLICAN CONGRESSMEN FROM NEW ENGLAND? None. All lost. Next we'll sweep the Pacific coast, then the mid-Atlantic states, then the industrial northeast. Pretty soon all the Republicans in the House will be from big, empty square states. |

If Sarah is the Republican star , then Bobby Jindal makes a great VP choice. Of course, a surprise female pick of Sarah's, to win the entire independant base is not out of the realm of possibility. I do believe Bobby Jindal is better at debating and his oratory skills are more on the lines of Obama's. Need to watch him in 12. If anyone can unseat Obama, it would be him, and a truley upset election. This depends on what Obama actually does with his first term. His acceptance and closing speech said something other than what he was saying during the election: "it may take more than a year, maybe not even in my first term, but we will get it". Totally out of the left field closet compared to his rhetoric during heated speeches prior. I believe Bobby Jindal, to be young, honest, ethical, and full of moral values. That's not to say that I couldn't be eatin my words in the future. Depending on what he does with Louisiana would greatly increase or decrease his chances at success for a 2012 Presidential bid. |

Sarah Palin needs not to be concerned with her possible run for a Senate seat, just coming off a disaster. Her main focus should be on the Alaskan people and finishing her first term as governor. By seeking other positions after her showing in the national spot light, she risks her chances for a second term as Governor with the people. If she keeps hopping like a bunny rabbit from seat to seat it shows theres no stability. It could wipe her political career out completely. FOCUS ON FINSIHING HER FIRST TERM, AND POSSIBLY A SECOND. THEN MAYBE IN 12 OR 16 SHE'LL BE READY FOR A BIGGER PEICE OF THE AMERICAN PIE. |
|
Why would Gov. Sarah Palin of the state of Alaska which is one of the most important: military wise, energy wise, and natural resource wise, and largest state in the USA want to be a one of fifty senators and have to live in DC? That is like a store manger becoming the stock boy.

for Senate seats that open up. The Governor does not get to appoint. Even if she has the power to appoint a temporary fill in, she should pick someone qualified other than herself.
It is the smart thing to do. |

"LOL...I don't believe that exit poll for one second! Yeah as if she could draw crowds of 30,000 while 85% republicans thought her to be unqualified!"
56 million people voted Republican. If 85% of them thought Palin was unqualified, that leaves 8.4 million people who thought she was, or 280 crowds of 30,000 each.
Counting the Democratic vote, 110 million voters total think Palin is unqualified. |

I like Palin. These staffers are like rats jumping from a sinking ship. |

I think she should visit Africa, meet their Prime Minister, ...
Also head down to South America to visit the NAFTA countries, learn Latin, ... |

Interesting exit poll numbers of Republican. 85 percent said she wasn't fit for the President's job.
White College educated Males voted for Obama after voting for Bush in 2004.
McCain aide called Palin and her pack, Wasilla Hillbillies.

First of all that is only one poll. Second, Mitt Romney couldn't pull it off when the playing field was weak with canidates that did not inspire anyone (including Romney). Look Romney had a lot of money and an excellent ground organization, but even with all of this he could not pull it off. Lastly, what doomed Romeny more than anything was his flip flopping on social issues when he decided he wanted to be president. At the end of the day the base loves Sarah and not Mitt Romney. When did Romeny routinely draw crowds of 20-30000 people many of whom wished that Sarah was the top of the ticket instead of Mccain. I will say this Romeny would make a great Secretary of the Treasury. |

She's not the frontrunner, Romney is. Look at the polls.
She's not rock solid conservative. She is pro-amnesty, pro gov control of Wall Street including CEO pay, she imposed the largest tax on oil companies to give more welfare to the most socialist state in America. She was a big porker as mayor and gov, she was in favor of the bridge to nowhere and kept the money, she is proudly bi-partisan, etc.
You said she's a skilled debator and orator. Um, I really don't know what to say to that one. Wink, wink. |

That ticket will would only show how out of touch the Republican party is. I didn't vote for McCain this time and I would never vote for Palin/Huckabee either. |

Why not? It would drive the liberal illumanti nuts. Both are smart (Palin still needs some tutoring but is a quick study who will learn from her mistakes this time around) and both energize the base that is sure to move into more prominence now that the weenie Republicans who lost their values have had their day. Two Washington outsiders, former govs with lots of executive experience between them. Or either one of them with a strong foreign policy name. |

IMO, Palin ought to serve her term out and make good friends with the likes of Watts, Newt and Fred. Go on a lot of friendly talk shows and be coy about the ever present questions about 2012. If she forgoes a re-election campaign to help campaign for conservative Republicans running for congress this will help her also. Writing a book of her own talking about her formative experiences and the things she sees that are great about America and how we can be better would be another bonus.
There is a lot she can do to prepare for 2012, but she should first do her best for the people of AK and server her term. |

she will appoint sean ...
she gets to "just" be a gov. for the next year or so ...
her big decision comes in '10 -- run for re-election, run for Senate, or run for House, with the first 2 of course having terms expiring AFTER '12, when the SECOND big decision for her will come ...
/she remains my heroine, and I still maintain she will someday become the first female president of the USA ... |

how 'bout any DEMs with a semblance of decency of heart???? "Well there's uh...uh...uh...uh...uh...forget about it!!!!" (I got the uh...uh...uh...from your Chosen One).. I too have a problem speaking w/o a teleprompter...... |

Come on do you have anything more than an ad hominin attack? Her approval rating is still at about 67%. She is not going anywhere accept to the White House. The base loves her and combine this with Sarah's determination and political skills means that she will be back. |
|
She shouldn't self-appoint.
If she follows her track record, she won't. She's been very good about honoring the wishes of the people she serves.
If she wants to become a Senator (and I lean towards the stay a Governor for the exec experience camp), then she should just call a special election and run. She'll win handily. |

Did anyone ever hear of Sarah Palin supporting the bailout bill that Mccain voted for? Or did she remain quiet because she disagreed with Mccain and can she campaign in the future as one who opposed the horrible bailout bill? |
|
before her, serves her term(s) and from the 'wilderness,' when she is no longer her States Executive, she speaks out on issues and develops 'chits' within the party as did Reagan between 1968 and 1980.
Gov. Palin gets a tight and honed tutor in geo-politics, American political science, nuclear policy and the events that got us here ... and then comes back and wrests control from the disgraced Democrats. The tutor has to be unblemished and with strong I.Q. Someone that has lived overseas and can speak on the globe and history wit ease. Someone that is not seeking publicity and no one that coverts a public voice.
And bring Piper and Trig too ...

Michael Medved believes that losing VP canidates never go on to become president save FDR. The problem with all the veeps that he listed and his comparison with them to Sarah, is that Sarah is loved by the base of her party and the others were not. Medved seems to fail to understand how politicians can make a comeback. Nixon lost to Kennedy but made a comeback. Reagan lost in the 1976 primaries but made a comeback in 1980. Sarah herself lost her run for lt. governor of Alaska, only to win the governoriship in the next election. Do not underestimate this woman's political skills! If Sarah chooses to run and I hope she does, she will begin the primaries with a basket full of advantages |
|
It seems to me that Sarah Palin is the front runner for the republican ticket in 2012 and here is why. First, she has name recognition and others save Romney and Huckabee do not. Second, this woman is absolutely loved by the base of the republican party and this love for her is not going away anytime soon. Breaking this love relationship between Palin and the base is going to be a tall order indeed. Third, she will have more experince in 2012 which will reduce the charge that she is too inexperienced to be president. Fourth, she has always been a rock solid and true conservative. Fifth, she is an immensely skilled debater and orator. Sixth, she is young and I believe she can connect to young voters now that she will no longer be hindered by the Mccain campaign. There are problems for others named as possible runners in the next primary. Romney still has the stigma of having been formally liberal on social issues and if he could not win with his money and organization in the last primary when the field of his opponents were weak and none excited the base, then he has little chance against Sarah in 2012 who is extremely popular with the base. Mike Huckabee who I supported in the primary also has handicaps. His move into the media makes him look more like an entertainer than a serious canidate. Also, like Romney if you could not win in a weak playing field of canidates then how are you going to beat Sarah who is the star of the republican base? What about Bobby Jindal? Four problems, one is that he has no name recognition and two he'll have to break Sarah's popularity with the base. Third, Sarah will have more executive experince than he does. Fourth, can Jindal match Sarah's oratory skills? Unlikely. Tim Pawlenty has to overcome the same obstacles that Jindal does and this is a mountain to climb!

I posted this elsewhere but it suits this topic. As governor she can continue to build up executive experience especially if she can keep taxes low. She can always have some advisors help her in foreign policy matters over the next few years. The election in 2012 is probably going to be mainly about the economy, government spending and taxes again. I say this because the far left economic agenda of the democrats is going to make things worse, not better. I have no doubt that the american people who voted for Obama, are going to have "buyers remorse" soon into his presidency. In 2012 Sarah can point to how well she ran Alaska, while Obama ran the country into the ground. Also, being a senator does not automatically provide one with foriegn policy credentials. Remember Reagan was a governor and never a senator.
