Burris is going to court to get his Senate seat and Harry Reid says No, No, No.
Would-be Sen. Roland Burris has asked the Illinois Supreme Court to force the state’s secretary of state to certify his appointment — an effort to prevent Senate Democrats from using the lack of certification as a way to block Burris from taking Barack Obama’s vacant Senate seat.
But Senate Democrats have a “Plan B” to keep Burris from being sworn in, regardless how the Illinois Supreme Court rules. Senate officials tell Politico that if presented with Burris’ appointment, they are likely to give the Rules Committee 90 days to determine the propriety of it by looking into such issues as whether Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich received anything in return for it.
“A motion to refer credentials to the committee has the effect of delaying seating,” a Senate Democratic aide said. “The motion is debatable and amendable.”
Another official explained: “That buys us 90 days.”
That should be enough so the senators won’t have to act to prevent Burris from joining the chamber. Blagojevich’s defiance inflamed Illinois legislators, speeding up the impeachment process.

Why would Reid block it? Let Blago do the dirty work of preserving a Dem Senate seat. |

you don't mean it????
Gov Blago picks a black man to assume the vacated seat of the only Black US Senator........
If anyone but the "Dims" were doing this, they WOULD be called racists..... |

I wonder if Blago received an invitation to the inauguration party. If not he will still be there in spirit. |

|
I wonder if the Blagojevich scandel in Illinois, is a distraction from the birth certificate issue. |
|
I have no idea where Obama was born -- and don't care. However, the law regarding automatic citizenship is apparently vague.
I had a son born in a naval hospital abroad. I took his birth documents and my passport to the American embassy at which time he was issued: "Report of Live Birth Abroad." The FSO told me something to the effect that he had to contact the State Department before his 18th birthday to declare his citizenship. He has no actual birth certificate, other than what he received from the hospital and the State Department report. The FSO said that my son was lucky to have born on a US military base because he was considered "Natural Born."
I once did a background investigation in which the person being investigated had a father from Mexico and a mother from Japan. He had THREE (3) birth certificates (reports of birth, rather than birth certificates) -- one from the US, one from Mexico and one from Japan because his parents registered him birth in all three countries. His father was in the military at the time of his birth -- which happened in Japan, so he also had a Report of Live Birth Abroad. (Took WEEKS to do this investigation!)
So, the whole thing is vague.

Our next Commander in Chief was born in Kenya. Just ask any of his relatives in Kenya.
That aside, I care a whole lot more about Obama's college records. Why is it that the company I work for can demand my college records, and yet, we, as citizens, cannot demand Obama's? Doesn't he work for us? |
|
You have to be born on US soil, unless your in the Military, or US territory, it doesnt matter if your a American citizen, if your overseas and your kid is born in Kenya, thats where your born and thats where your from. |
|
First, the link I provided proves Obama was born in Hawaii, NOT Kenya. His parents lived in Hawaii at the time. (Theywere both students at the University of Hawaii). Now, unless you are going to claim that for some reason, the Obamas snuck off to Kenya to have their kid born there, and then deviously put an announcement in the Hawaiian paper and made arrangements with the State to get him a fake Birth Cert, but I'm not sure what their motivations would be...
Secondly, even if he was born in Kenya, he is STILL a naturalized US Citizen by virtue of the fact his mother is a US CItizen. Here is the relevent State Department document that says so...

Eugene, my friends grandparents came to the United States in 1901, she was 8 months pregnant when she got here, they had a child here, then less then a year later they went back to Italy, but the child that was born here, was a US Citizen, not a Italian citizen, thats how the whole family got here, just say Obama was born in Kenya, he would not be a American citizen, he would be a citizen of Kenya,
ok Eugene just say your right, and its true that a American citizen can have a child anywhere and still be a US citizen, why dont he show us his birth certificate, and if your right, why dont he say so.

Eugene Back in 1961, where it says Fathers race, it says African, back then they didnt use African, they just started saying African 4 or 5 years ago, in 1961, it would said Negro or colored even Black, but not African, and if this is true, thats why a lot of people think that the birth certificate is a fake. |

Yes, I've heard that comment, too...
Here is an answer from FactCheck.org.
http://www.factcheck.org/elections-2008/born_in_the_usa.htm l
"why is Obama's father's race listed as "African"? Kurt Tsue at the DOH told us that father's race and mother's race are supplied by the parents, and that "we accept what the parents self identify themselves to be." We consider it reasonable to believe that Barack Obama, Sr., would have thought of and reported himself as "African." It's certainly not the slam dunk some readers have made it out to be."
Yes, the terms "Negro" or "Black" would have been more common back then, but it is probably that Barack H. Obama Sr. thought of himself as African, not "negro".
Another point. Just how incompetant do you think everyone else is. Fraud of this level, if true, would have blown Obama's campaign out of the water. But you really think that Hillary Clinton and John McCain could have missed something like this, but some crank on the internet would have picked it up? As Dr. Phil would say- Get Real!
