National Officials Want To Make Sure Californians Can Keep Working On Their Tans.... On The Government Dime
Posted by: Jillian Bandes at 1:11 PM
To his credit, Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger wants to close 220 state parks to help alleviate California's massive budget deficit. But the feds might not let him. National Park Service officials have threatened to seize some of the the parks from the state of California and take them over if California doesn't keep their doors open, because the parks were on former federal land.

Maybe the Park Service thinks its best if Californians reduce their police forces instead of having to sacrifice leisure time in Point Magu park near Malibu. Or maybe it's better that Schwarzenegger cut fire department staff and resources so that Californians wouldn't have to miss a day of recreation in Angel Island in San Francisco. I think Schwarzenegger should ask Park Service officials which parks they like best, so he can prioritize keeping those open.

Seems to me this is a simple
solution, let the Fed seize the land and, of course, the upkeep. This could be an opportunity for Dumbo's "volunteers," they can patrol these former CA parks and assist the folks visiting.

they're fools. they have given up on thinking. it is all a cartoon with them. those who take this stuff seriously are tools. the others are liars. These Reeps have evolved to a major league state of degeneracy.

Jillian....
I'm on your side, and even I am scratching my head over this one.

If CA can't afford the upkeep anymore, how is the Fed taking over a bad thing? All that stimulus money might actually to one little iota of good....

(Full disclosure....I run in one of these parks almost daily....)

There's no such thing as federal lands
Within the borders of any state, the constitution only allows for land to be given to the feds to run federal facilities. The whole national park system is unconstitutional.

Another issue of federal intrusion?
Is the camel's head inside the tent yet?

Seems as if the federal government has found another area in which to mandate what the states can/must do!

Too bad states are used to monies from the feds - money with strings/steel cables attached - like a puppet on a string and the big brother government above the stage view but invisible to the puppet and viewers (us).

What happened to that part of the Constitution that declares that all other rights are reserved to the states. Are any rights left?
