Optimistic
Posted by: Patrick Ruffini at 2:39 PM

I am cautiously optimistic that there will be a Republican YouTube debate. CNN is now working to reschedule the debate, and Governor Romney says that he’d be open to participating in a rescheduled debate. Mayor Giuliani expressed support for a date change as early as last Friday, and in fact says he enjoyed the format. Both candidates are fully on board with the idea that a scheduling conflict is no reason to pass up this unique opportunity to speak the American people.

SavetheDebate.com will continue to keep the pressure on. As Ronald Reagan said, “Trust but verify.” We’ll continue to hold the candidates’ feet to the fire until all the candidates are confirmed to attend the first Internet-driven Republican debate. And then we’ll turn to the next phase of our effort: taking the lead in driving intelligent, quality questions for the candidates from grassroots Republicans online and off.

Please keep visiting SavetheDebate.com to sign the petition and catch our roundup of all the great media coverage this weekend.

mmmmm... I don't really think tin-pot dictators are on my team. Strikes me as the same as me asking you and your fellow conservatives why you aren't in Singapore caning children. Thanks for the input, though.

Manfred, if you're a "hard left", . . .
shouldn't you be down in Zimbabwe helping Mugabe exterminate capitalists or something?

Please read. Just return to what I wrote, read it, and tell me where I said that. My complaint was with the term "hard left." I consider myself to be a part of the "hard left," and I don't think it is a careful assessment by the right to lump the moderate left (whether it is CNN, the NYT, TNR, or Democratic politicians) with the hard left -- which doesn't identify with any of them. I don't care if you call CNN liberal, sissy-left, soft left, left-leaning -- who cares? But not hard left.

Fix it, don't save it
You want to save the debate, you need to fix it.

If it's going to be a replay of the DHIMMIcRAT debate, with snowmen asking questions, it's going to be a further degradation of our political process.

Co-opt CNN, or STFU.

Yeah right, you going to tell us that CNN is not a lib network.

PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Only idiots make deals with Ted Kennedy,
Muslims, or George Soros...

All three have a history of lying their tails off. And probably for the same reason. It gets them points in their version of the Hereafter.

Using YouTube will put hundreds of millions of viewers in contact with YouTube adverts which will make the donkey candidate donors more rich.

To advocate for this is either STUPID (if you want a Republican to win the White House in 2008) or SMART (if you're secretly working for one of the candidates sponsored by George Soros.

Which one is Patrick... The world can only guess...

Beck gets about the worst ratings of any cable news host. I think it is not the ratings.

employ Beck and Dobbs?

Because their numbers have been in the tank for a long time. Odd how they bring other side in and the numbers go up.

A few of us manfred will not forget when CNN lied to the world about IRAQ and their connection to Saddam.

Yeah that's a truth telling new org..... LOL

This will
in no way engender these men to most conservatives--especially those of us who, just now, are disgruntled and will not necessarily vote for somebody because they have the R.

I am a registered republican and will be voting in the primary. And I expect these men to speak to ME about their positions on issues I care about.

If they want the independent vote, then fine. Let them pander to them, but they are trying my patience.

et tu? What is going on with the easy manner in tossing the "hard left" around? If CNN is "hard left," why do they employ Beck and Dobbs? I couldn't care less if you call them left-leaning -- that would imply that slightly more than half the time they tilt slightly to the left. I can live with that (even if I am not sure it is true). But "hard left"? Give me a break. No corporate media source is HARD left -- they are too heavily invested in the status quo.

Can we have a cease-and-desist order on this sight from calling mainstream media or political figures "hard left"?

Idiocracy
If you haven't seen the movie, you need to.

The youtube debate is a significant step on the road to the idiocracy.
Larry writes: Monday, July, 30, 2007 4:10 PM
a complete waste of time
As long as CNN is involved, no republicans will listen because the questions will be inane and from the hard left, and the CNN audience will like the questions but won't vote for any republican anyway.

Yes, I understand the DNC operative(s) at CNN are trying to mobilize the nude-lesbians-for-debate crowd to make a few submissions.
