Translating Rudy's New Ad

Listen to Rudy's new radio ad going up in New Hampshire, and it's clear what Rudy's message is: He's running as the candidate best prepared to keep us safe from terrorism. But there are some other, subtler messages that he also communicates. Here's my interpretation ...
1. "... They're not going to find perfection" - Translation: You know about the skeletons in my closet. I'm not gonna try to hide them...
2. "There are two big things at stake for the country..." - Translation: Social issues aren't included in the "big" issues. And my personal life's not one of them, either.
3. "If they agree with most of them (his issues) ..." Translation: Don't get hung up on social issues. If you agree with most of my positions, vote for me.
4. "The Republican that Democrats just don't want to run against." - Translation: I'm electable. Otherwise, you'll get Hillary!

Designed to get you to nominate the ONE guy Hillary can thrash. If the GOP want to win, don't nominate Rudy. Period. |

I know, I know, it's a poll. And yes, it was conducted by WaPo and ABC News. But there was an interesting number that popped out at me. Deep inside the poll numbers which finds Rudy Giuliani leading the field with 34%(second is Thompson with 17%), you will find that Giuliani also leads the candidates on who they trust with "social issues" with a large 41%. Thompson again comes in at second with 18%.
From the WaPo article:
'More curious was that Giuliani led on whom Republicans trust to handle social issues. Despite his support for abortion rights and gay rights, 41 percent of those surveyed cited Giuliani as the one they trust, with Thompson a distant second at 18 percent. There was no clear explanation for that finding, given a previous Post-ABC News poll that showed concern among many Republicans about Giuliani's positions on those issues. But the poll did not specify which "social issues" respondents should consider.'

Republicans know social issues. Republicans know Giuliani's social record.
Is this poll in error, or does this poll show a distrust amongst Republicans of the other candidates that is so high that they trust Giuliani more on social issues in which they may dissagree with him more?

Not Rudy. Anyone but Rudy and McCain. Don't think Hunter would back either of them anyway. |

The MSM polls (especially Fox) overstate Rudy's true support. They often poll adults and then ask for self identified party members and leaners or they poll self identified registered voters. That includes a whole lot of people who will not be voting in the primaries. The results are deceptive and created by poor (and in my opinion unethical methods).
Only about 25% of those polled in the ABC poll (that has Rudy at 34 %) will be voting in the primary. Actual Rep primary voters tend to be a lot more socially conservative than adults. Further, the ABC sample size of 397 (more or less) has only captured about 100 actual primary voters. That boosts the margin of error to about 10.
Rudy benefits from both bias against socially conservative voters and from margin of error as he has the best name recognition. |

You know that I think the world of Duncan Hunter and his family and I appreciate your energy supporting his campaign. The time will come when Congressman Hunter drops out of the race. It will be interesting to see whom he will give his support to. When this happens(and I know you don't believe it will) will you follow Hunter's lead and back the candidate whom he endorses? If he endorses a candidate you find too "liberal", will you back a different candidate. I ask this with all the respect I can and I'm not trying to force an answer or anything like that. |

Republican voters still get to decide who their nominee will be. Money only buys elections when people act like sheep. If 80% of Republicans are indeed seeking a conservative, we can nominate one. We can nominate Duncan Hunter. The money players won't like it and are trying to convince us only Rudy, Romney, or McCain can win. Hogwash. They want an open borders candidate. Give Americans a chance to vote for a candidate who WILL secure the border and watch turnout soar. Americans want their government to fulfill it's most basic responsibility.
The primary responsibility of the U.S. government is to protect the territorial integrity and people of this country. They have completely abdicated this responsibility. Both parties have been complicit in this. We are being told it is not possible to control our borders, enforce our laws, and thereby control our destiny as a nation. Hogwash. We are being sold out by corporations intent on importing workers for jobs that can't be exported with the taxpayers paying the true costs, financial and human. If we act like sheep and don't stop the inundation across our borders, we will lose our country without a bleat.
