I was always a little skeptical of this sheriff and the fame he has aquired. But having watched this interview, I'm convinced he is a good law man doing a good job of enforcing the law.

decent interview although, as usual, the liberal got a bit emotional instead of sticking to facts. Sanchez is CORRECT in that corporations, business owners and Dem and Repub pols love having slave labor Mexicans/Guatemalans etc coming into the country however they can. Cheap labor, ripoff bancos and slumlords profit, and the Dems get a new permanent lower class base of voters. Win Win all around except for the American citizens who see this whole thing as bad. And who is stuck in the middle? The law enforcement officers. This is shameful. |

It seems that some have a soft spot for those who are here illegally. They see them as victims of oppressive America, not as people with who broke the law to get here and who are essentially invisible in our society.
Is it so horrible to apprehend and return those who have defied our laws to their countries of origin or do we reward them with turning a blind eye or granting them entry for their crime?
Some are here to avail themselves to our ever dwindling largesse and some are the dregs of the societies from which the fled. What would you do, flip a coin and decide which is which and take your chances that the coin was right?
Evidently, the answer to that question is yes for some. How foolish!

He repeated, repeated, repeated, and repeated until finally Mr Sanchez realized HE was being the dunce! You, too, can don the hat! Obviously you are unaware (or aware just unwilling to admit it) the law enforcement work in teams: senior with a newbie, hence further on-the-job training. It is clear why you continue to worship at the Captain Obumbles altar!
Crispian, I thought he did, though, using the Fed's formula: clothing, speech, body language and demeanor. Sheriff Arpaio did contradict Sanchez by saying they don't sweep people off the streets, i.e, the innocent jogger. |

Sanchez sees little reason to enforce our immigration laws. Arpaio did appear to mispeak, saying people could be arrested without committing a crime. He didn't clarify clearly enough.
But in the end, the whole interview hinged on arguing in favor of upholding any immigration law. Best response to Sanchez is, if you don't want the laws enforced, work to have them repealed. |

Well we all know where President Obama, John McCain, Lindsay Graham, Biden, and Clinton all want a kind of immigration reform so the much bigger issue here is Obama going to use the DHS to sipercede local authorities in an effort to "cool out" the immigration hot heads.
The good sheriff is using a pretty broad form of profiling based on what certainly would not pass for probable cause in most serious courts but in the Federal law that the good sheriff USED to followed allowed him a certain degree of latitude in excising his duities.
Funny how he claims that 5 months of ICE training makes somebody an expert but its just another slice of GOP type hypocrisy; the law is great right up untill it no longer favors my position.
I did enjoy watching Sanchez try to play the race card-"epic fail" as they say. |
