Understanding Honduras

The editorial over at National Review Online is required reading for anyone who wants to understand what really seems to have happened in Honduras.
In fact, President Zelaya -- the victim of the supposed "coup" -- was making a play to transform his presidency into a dictatorship, following in the footsteps of his friend Hugo Chavez.
So it's no surprise that Chavez denounced what happened. It's no surprise that Fidel Castro did, too. Same goes for Nicaragua's Daniel Ortega.
What's a little disappointing is that the President who wouldn't be caught "meddling" on behalf of the cause of freedom in Iran added his voice to the left-wing chorus of Chavez, Castro and Ortega.

Lucky Pozzo is an internet buddy of mine. We hooked up years ago, with a shared taste for right-wing lunacy. He went off to a right-wing site and I went over to Powerline, and we would share stories. I learned long ago not to reveal any personal information on sites populated by half-civilized right-wing knuckle draggers. That's probably where you and the onanist Roy Rogers got the idea that I didn't know about things that a Marine's father should know, because I won't play your stupid little swinging Richard games.

RE: Honduras - the National Review seems to think that since the Supreme Court decided Zelaya was GOING TO try to do something unconstitutional, they could order the military to depose him.
Does this mean that the National Review would have no problem with the U.S. Supreme Court ordering regiments from Fort Myer to remove President Bush because they considered his surveillance and detention programs unconstitutional? |

As military "coups" go, the one this weekend in Honduras was strangely, well, democratic. The military didn't oust President Manuel Zelaya on its own but instead followed an order of the Supreme Court. It also quickly turned power over to the president of the Honduran Congress, a man from the same party as Mr. Zelaya. The legislature and legal authorities all remain intact.

1) Advertise and Promote the Fact that you are forming a Grand Jury in Blogs, Local Newspapers and Community Organizations.
2) Form the Grand Jury and select a Foreman.
3) Select a Private Attorney General to make Presentments to Grand Jury, if local DA refuses to make presentments.
4) Select a convenient Meeting Place.
5) Communicate with all Citizens who have criminal information to present.
6) Schedule presentments by said Citizens.
7) Subpoena documents from Government Offices and Officials.
8) Schedule presentment of said Documents to Grand Jury by Grand Jury Attorney General.
9) Have Grand Jury Attorney General present said Documents to Grand Jury.
10) After investigation and deliberation is completed, vote and issue a True Bill (Indictment) or No True Bill.

What a novel idea, actually following the constitution. Hondurans has more guts than we the American people have. They saw their constitution being violated and they took action to protect it and what it stands for. We on the other hand are standing back and watching ours be shredded on a daily basis. Obama and Zelaya are of the same mindet. The constitutions are obstructing their quest for ultimate power. Obama does not really care about the people of Honduras but he does care about promoting a system that takes the power away from the people and gives it to one leader and his followers.
