Ideological Ends, Pragmatic Means
Posted by: Carol Platt Liebau at 10:10 PM

This AP piece just points out what should be obvious to everyone by now -- that Barack "Change you can believe in" Obama has been filling the top ranks of his administration with Clinton era and/or beltway insiders.

What should, of course, be obvious is that such a move is probably necessary for a relative novice like President-elect Obama.  If he chose to surround himself with people who are as lacking in national experience as he is, the results would resemble . . . well, the Carter administration.

Obama is a true ideological believer when it comes to the ends he wants to pursue, but he's a hard core pragmatist about the means for achieving them.  If a certain frisson of excitement is lost among his liberal base when they learn that the West Wing will be filled with a bunch of retreads, no doubt he figures that's a trade-off everyone will be willing to make, so long as the results are worth it.  And make no mistake -- he's committed to making sure the results are worth it, at least for those on the left.

Obama is already making himself
last year's model several times removed. Time to trade him in for something new? All we need is his registration card, i.e., a bona fide birth certificate, and we will then know what he is worth on the used lot.

Change We Can Believe In
We're changing FROM BUSH. What part of that don't you understand?

I'm happy with Clinton's people being in the administration, just as I was happy when Clinton was the administration. I know for certain that most of them thought that Clinton was a little too moderate, a little too passive. This is a second chance for them to do good, and it's a first chance for all the new people Obama's bringing in. And make no mistake, over half of the people suggested for positions in the new administration are NOT Clintonites.

If you thought that Carol was complaining about the Clintonite retreads in Obama's Cabinet, go back and read it again.

Change
We're changing back to the failures of the Clinton administration. And we still remmeber those changes: military reduced 40%, peace dividend that went where?, Waco, just to name a few. So, yes, it is change.

Defending the indefensible
I see the irrational Clinton fans are going to put us through that agonizing drill of defending the indefensible. It has started with Eric Holder. It is a mystery to me why they vote in the crooks and crum bums in the first place. This will be another countdown to see who goes to jail next. 14 convictions of Clintonites last time.

changers.
Whether I like it or not, I can see the logic in bringing in experienced people from a previous illuminati administration to compensate for the president's lack of hands-on experience. Obama is smart. He's going to make smart, careful decisions even if they require idealists to sigh in disgust. This is one of those decisions--it's best for the country, even if it doesn't embody the purity of the "change" concept.

...It's the 3rd Clinton administration! Change we can BELIEVE in? LMAO.

Maybe Al Zawahiri's obnoxious point about Mr. B. Hussein O. had some validity after all. It just needs a more PC variation.

A Marxist is a Marxist
Whether they are a bubba type from Arkansas or a peanut farmer or a jew with gangster affectations or a suave black man from Chicago.

I haven't seen a Mao jacket, Mrs. Clinton excepted, on any communist Chinese for a very long time. But no one rules China but the communist party. They still "own" the means of production. Exclusively.
