Very funny, the real hero John McCain against the make believe hero Mitt Romney (is Mitt Romney supposed to be Tom Cruise or Val Kilmer?) |
|
The Anchoress defends McCain: There has been some really shameful demagoguery against McCain from people who ordinarily would show some respect for a man who spent 6 years in a VietCong POW camp, too, which to my way of thinking says many more negative things about the sign-holders and aspersion-casters than it does about McCain. UPDATE: Here is an except from ... the statement of a fellow POW of McCain’s who does not support him politically: A friend, whom I know to be reliable, was across the hall and one door down, from McCain’s cell when McCain was first captured. He has told me that he saw Communist officers enter the cell where the wounded John McCain lay, incapacitated. He heard them offer McCain early release and heard John answer that he would go home when we all go home. He heard the voices of the officers rising until they were shouting angrily at McCain and threatening him. This was followed by screams of agony from John McCain, and a stream of obscenities from him. He could not see what they did to him and I never heard from John McCain what it was. This does not sound like a collaborator. The man has a son in Iraq and one at Annapolis - he is undoubtedly a Patriot. To call him a “Benedict Arnold” as these people do is disgusting and out-of-line. It is, more than anything, what I find disturbing about the excesses of the far-right. - End Update

The over the top attacks of McCain are disgraceful. Anyone who does this is no better than those individuals who attack Mitt's faith and the LDS Church. I know many of you do not do this (you just support Mitt and is ok to support your candidate), but some of you do cross this line and should be ashamed of yourselves. It needs to stop.
And no MKH's Video is not an unfair attack. It is funny! |

Stoic endurance, but having survived a POW ordeal no more imparts heroism to the victim than does having limped away from a bear mauling.
But on the pressing policies of our time--imperialism, debauch-and-delay monetary machinations, amnesty and arrogation of dictatorial powers in the executive branch of federal government--McCain is Hillary is Romney is Obama.
Should Ron Paul be unavailable this November, I am going to cast a vote for the CFR as a write-in. |

Great video. These are both men of strength and honor. My vote goes to Mitt. GO MITT! |
|
|
I believe the appropriate phrase is "Bravo Zulu". |
|
|
This isn't going to settle down the McCainiacs or the MittBots. Oh well. |

from Top Gun.
"God help us all"
(PS: Vote Romney) |

That's really good, M-Kat, as are all of your HamNation episodes. You have a good eye for storytelling thru images.
You should bolt DC and come out to Hollywood and become a film editor.
Of course, on the other end of the spectrum, we have Joe, who fails to see that not only is McCain's nickname "Maverick," but he admits he fails to see the symbolism of the outlaw McCain in Tom Cruise's "Maverick" character vs. the symbolism of Mitt Romney in Val Kilmer's "Iceman." |

Put one in Huckabee's column. The right wing is talking today. |
|
|
They were decommissioned far too early. What is the candidates position on that? |
|
This is tradgic. You all laugh, while the party eats its young and ensures a Democratic win in November. Its all fun and games for the pundnts. As a mother of a young Naval EOD officer headed to Iraq to disarm IED's to help continue the surge, I find this sickening. I'm scared to death my son will have Hillary or Obama as his Commander and Cheif. I'll personally blame Rush, Coulter,Ingram and Hewitt. Rommney, McCain or Huckabee can lead my son and he'll be represented. Rush, do you really think it will go well for our troops as they pull out of Iraq, once Hillary or Obama start an annouced withrawl of our forces? You'll have helped to elect our defeat in the War on Terror and made a mockery of the scarfices of so many. |

McCain might be called a war hero for getting shot down, getting captured and getting out alive. Most heroes are called that for their action, not for things that happen to them, reverse serendipity. Point is how is it relevant today, thirty years later?
What's he done lately but sell out his party? Will he nominate Jane Fonda for VEEP or leave that last insult to Hillary? |
|
First, we all thank your son for his service and I'm keeping your family in my prayers.
Second, the video is about the most lighthearted and fairly even-handed of mockeries you're going to see. The point of it was for everyone to have a laugh together, and most people did so-- McCainiacs and Mittoheads alike. I don't wish to tear McCain down too much, even if I disagree with him, but I will razz him for a few things. Same with Romney.
Thanks for commenting, and everyone try to keep it clean in here. Like I said, let's try not to tear anyone down too much. Either one could go up against the Dems and I, for one, will be supporting him whoever he is. |

But many of us have held our noses for two long.
After the 2006 drubbing, McCain got on national TV and, like a beaten dog, moped that the Republican party lost because they strayed from their conservative principles.
The next day, as if in advanced stages of alzheimers, he went right back to work being what the voters had repudiated the night before. He even tried to ram the amnesty through one more time.
Fool me once, shame on you. I will stay home if McCain gets the nod. I will not repeatedly give my approval to the decline of the party.
As for the supporters of McCain telling me that I can't harp on him because of his time in the POW camp, I have this to say: CINDY SHEEHAN.
Yep, you're pulling the same stunt.
