Dodd's Countrywide Discount

If it wasn't okay for former VP vetter Jim Johnson to get sweetheart housing loans because of his cozy relationship with Countrywide, I think it's safe to assume it's not ethical for the Chairman of the Senate Banking Committee either, right?

Sen. Chris Dodd (D.-Conn), who oversees housing issues in the Senate, got the same kind of "Countrywide Discount" Johnson did, according to this story.

And the conflict of interest is much worse than it was for a VP vetter. As Chairman of the committee Dodd is now pushing a $300 billion bill to pump tax dollars into the housing industry and help those lenders, like Countrywide, who gave him healthy discounts on his mortgages because of his occupation.

Good Grief
Does anybody have any morals anymore or respect for each other? How about taking responsibility for your actions. I guess Dodd won't be on the VP "short list." As for the bill, stuff it! Some of these lenders committed fraud, along with brokers, agents, etc. And as for some of these homeowners, please learn to understand your mortgage. I have a few friends who had no clue why their mortgage jumped. One actually asked me what an ARM was. I almost fainted. And of course where I live, eyes are bigger than your wallets. A lot of people helped with this crisis and a lot of people should be punished for it. As for getting a discount for his "occupation", that needs to stop and end now. And he is chairman of the committee. Good grief. Can we send them all home?

Dowd should be stripped of any committee appointments dealing with the banking and finance industries. What a disgrace. Delegate him the task of working out the details of privatizing the Senate's bankrupt dining facilities.

This is typical of the corruption in congress. Our leaders in washington continue to sell out our country, undermine security, pay-off themselves and friends, all for their own greed. No one investigates because they are all guilty as the mafia. The US is just another corrupt third world country. The people are too stupid to do anything. They are dumbed down by marxist educators and the propagandizing media. The US is dead.
